I should add that he phoned 3 times!  I didn't answer the first two times as I felt the number was likely a telemarketer.  Shouldn't have answered at all.  What does it take to get them to stop these calls!?!?

Man with a non-North American accent phoned on Oct. 20th wanting to know if I remembered his call about a certified check!  I said he must have been talking to someone else and told him I was hanging up, which I did.  Interesting to see what the other approaches experienced.

I don't know why they'd waste their time telling you you won $2.5. That's barely a cup of coffee.

Many of the scammers who pretend to be PCH are calling from Jamaica.
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt148.shtm   - read that, it explains the FTC's Project JOLT.

Caller had thick foreign (unidentifiable) accent, reported he was with Maximilian (?) Publishing, and that I had won $2.5 in the Publisher's Clearing House.
I haven't submitted any entries for PCH in many, many years, and of course PCH loves to do the surprise knock-at-the-door thing, so I immediately knew this was fake, and hung up on him.

Received phone call from John Peterson, Stating with Mega Million and that you were selected as one of the mega million prize winners for $90,000 dollars, wants to know if you received a letter stating your winnings.  Gives you a Ref# and ask you to call back at this number when you are able to leave.  States affliated with Publisher's Clearing house although not with Publisher's Clearing House.
