Prank Call
just got a call from the same number.  The man's voice was slow and sounded computer like. he informed me i had won 2 million dollars from pch. I pretended to be all excited, knowing it was a scam.  he was trying to tell me i was gonna have to pay a fee, but i kept talking over him saying "i am so excited, can't believe it."  He then asked me if I were at home. I told him no. (but I was).  LOL and we were disconnected. I called PCH and they DO NOT ever make calls. which I knew that already. gave her the phone number and info.  I never give info to people who call me.

I just got a call from this number. It sounded like they were talking through a computer, or some type of device. They told me that they were from PCH and they were informing me that I would won $950,000 and a Mercedes. They gave me a list of information and a phone number to call and give them the info. As soon as I got off the phone, I googled the number. Thank goodness I'm so suspicious.

I got scammed!! I lost $495.00 plus the transaction fee.  I received a call today at 11:58 HST this morning. A "James Anderson" called from "PCH" to inform me that I just won $950,000.00.  I was a DUMMY and went against my better judgment and went and got the card. He gave me his badge #7701 and a packet #19993 with the verification code of 100230AN. He also gave me a number to verify that (1-866-996-5997 & authorization code #232376) I was a winner, but when I called I got directed to a automated service telling me that I was a WINNER!!  I am a FOOL!!  I am now OUT $495.00 and the transaction fee. I have reported this incident to the police.....I don't see my $$ being returned!

DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
This is not a toll free "800" number, it is the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica. You are charged international and long distance rates for calling this number. Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.

Scammers use these numbers to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.

Do report the calls, Jamaican and US officials are still actively tracking down and arresting the offenders:

They never require any money, purchases, taxes, fees, or deposits of any kind to get your prize.

Publishers Clearing House DOES NOT call, email, FAX, mail, any advanced notice that you have won.

"If you are ever contacted by someone claiming to represent PCH, or claiming to be one of our employees,  and asked to send or wire money (for any reason whatsoever, including taxes); or send a pre-paid gift card or Green Dot Moneypak card in order to claim a sweepstakes prize ? DON?T!  It?s a SCAM. If you are sent a check, told it?s a partial prize award, and asked to cash it and send a portion back to claim the full prize award, DON?T.  The check is fake, but the SCAM is real!

Publishers Clearing House does not operate this way and would NEVER ask for money to claim a prize award.  PCH employees would never contact you personally or in advance to notify you of a prize award.  Our prize awards are presented just the way you see in our popular TV commercials, ?live and in person? by our Prize Patrol, with balloons, champagne and check in hand - - and with no advance notification!"

Received call from this number stating that I won some Publisher's Clearing House money. All I needed to do is purchase a Wal-Mart card, to cover the taxes, and send it to them.  They advised me that they would hand on to the line with me while I did so.  I told them good, because I had the Sheriff's Office on the other line and the Sheriff's Office would like them to hang on also.  They hung up.

My elderly father was contacted by these people last night and told he had won $100,000, and that all he had to do was go to Wal-Mart and buy five $500 pre-pay debit cards and give them to these people.  They also asked him for his bank account information.  He was going to follow through with it until we got involved.  This phone number was where the calls were coming from.  I called it back and confronted the man that answered and he asked me how I got his phone number.

Got a call from 876-893-8401 saying I won $800+ thousand from Publisher's Clearing House. But I needed to pay a registration fee...  I told them I would try to confirm this with PCH. He gave me the above 876.... number to call but I contacted the real PCH
That was the end of that. I contacted PCH's website and see they do not operate that way.  So scam avoided.
