I'm glad I read this. Mr Joseph canon from barnes gavenski told me not to contact the debt collectors just him that struck a nerve. He told me ill be arrested, which is false. Yes I did have a loan for 400. Then he told me I owed 1100.. I'm not paying that. I contacted the real people. And started payments with them. Go to hell Joseph Canon

They threaten to issue a warrent out for me if I didn't pay within the hour and they said they were an entity with the national crime information center which is part of the FBI  they never tole me they were a collection agency

My household received almost exactly the same message as noted in Nancy's comment.  *They* apparently called - "important" - about the "business I am conducting"....  Yeah, riiiiight....

And yes, it's interesting that the only comments in this thread (as well as in other threads elsewhere discussing the same phone number) which purport this all to be true and valid, are written without proper mixed case letters, employ improper or simply bad grammar, usually lack a majority of (or all) punctuation, are found to be missing words, and make inordinately excessive use of clumsy abbreviations -- collectively all the earmarks of a non-native speaker of English.  Combine that with the reports that this number is a VOIP line, making its source potentially anywhere in the world, and you have at least the first 3 or 4 red flags of: "Scam!" flying in the breeze.

Motor, you are full of crap.  At least read up on Fair Debt Collection before you post on these threads.  What you posted can only confirm that you don't know what you're talking about.  You can't be arrested or have to post bond for owing a debt.

I received a call today, 8/8/12 at 240pm, from a phone number 1-877-206-8031, with the same message, a recording telling me about my SS# for fraudulent activity.  It gave me the number to call 1-800-691-8323.  I called the number, there was no answer and told me to leave a message for GFS.  I did not leave a message, but I called the number back on my caller ID, the 1-877-206-8031, nobody was answering the phone and the recording was saying to leave a message for MRS. WORD.  Who are these people??

But who gave these scammers my number?  How did they get my number?

This company called today. When I answered it was an automated recording related to a complaint against a social security number.  Option #9 was to speak to someone.  When I did I found that they were looking for my ex-husband due to serious allegations using his Social Security Number.  I do not have any contact information but these people have called in the past over and over but did not leave messages.  What can be done with callers like this.  I am disabled and have difficulty everytime the darn phone rings.

Got a vmail today stating they had some fraudulent activity and. For me to press 9 to verify my info I'm not calling back and my number is on do no call list also have proof I paid my bills

Mr. Miller keeps calling me and they have my social security number, old address and my new phone number.  They do not have my drivers license or anything else.  They say that I wrote a check from a bank I have never had for $415.  Can they take this to court and file a felony on me like they say?

And assoc..called told me I had an litigation against me from cashnet for $350.00..from cashnet and tpld them wait a minute thats from 2008 and I paid that with a coll. Agency in 2009...its 2012 now..what the heck ..shee got huffy with me and told me I had 24 hrs to send them proof or taking me to court..meanwhile I have checked my credit report in the past few years and nothing has been on it regards to this issue..i called cashnet...they assured it said its a scam and made note of it and told me to ignore them and they only deal with the coll. Agency on file it the one I delt with back then.

I received a call today on my cell phone and my work phone from a lady saying she was calling from Barnes, Gavenski and associates and that there was a judgement against me and to call back ASAP 678 831 2738 and to give case number JN...

You have all been scamed. I unfortunately worked for the company. Never believe what they say. They should only ask for what you owe but they will tack on 300-500 to your bill for comission. They are not hourly paid thats why they tag on "extra" fees. Some of the employess such as myself thought and think the company is real and legit. I have noticed many people posting the address of the company...thats not it. 1 of the building is located off Ladonna Dr which is off Memorial HWY in decatur georgia. They have no legal office or refusal dept. The person they claim over refusal is Ms Akins and the "legal" dept is Darrell Jay Gibbons which is a jurnalist major....nothing to do with the law. People aren't stupid. We know when you're one of their cronies.  It's written all over your lies.

THEY ARE FRAUDS.  Their address is a UPS mail store PO box.  Their phone number is VOIP.  If you wait long enough, you'll continue to get calls from other numbers as well.

Contact the Atlanta Better Business Bureau, the FBI and the FTC.  Report them as illegally harassing you fraudulently.  They are scammers.  They will threaten you with lawsuits, jail time, arrests, court dates....whatever it takes to make you sweat.

Like the other poster said, give them all the information of your local Law enforcement authorities, as if it were your phone number and address.

They never send you documentation of any kind; not what they claim you owe, not a receipt for any money you pay, (and PLEASE do not give them any money)....not anything legitimate.  They will use any tactic to scare you into giving them information, so be on your toes and do not give any personal information out to them.  Tell them they can get the information when they send you the legal documents, and you let your lawyer look them over.

I just listened to the message again. I was at work so it was hard to hear the first time but listening to it again. "this is a call for (blank no name is said)" the rest of the message was lacking a name. When I called and spoke to Mr Washington, he said, "did they leave you a case number?" I said no and then he responded. "Oh you said that you could not hear the message...." Hey guess what I did not say that. DO NOT TRUST them.
