It is indeed someone claiming you owe money to columbia house.  I receive these calls daily!  I do not know how to make them stop! They call from different numbers as well. The other number they called from was 866-202-1027. Do not give them any information! It is a scam.

I received several calls from this number and didn't answer since I didn't recognize it.  I finally did answer and they hung up.  I called again and some one answered with an accent.  I asked who they were and they asked what number I was calling from.  I didn't tell them.  I just asked who was calling me.  He said Daniel.  I told him he was calling the wrong number and to quit calling.

It's someone claiming you owe money to Columbia House and if you don't pay he'll report you to the Credit Bureau.  Its fake.  The claims are for such small amounts ($20-30) that most people probably just pay.

They were calling hot & heavy for awhile, then stopped and then called me again last night.  The first time I spoke with someone (about a month ago) it was some Indian girl.  She refused to give me any concrete information and wanted me to give her my credit card # so I could pay an old Columbia House bill.  Like hell I would do that!  I told her I'd never heard of it, and to send me an invoice or some kind of proof.  She refused to and kept me on the phone for 15 minutes.  Then this Indian-sounding joker called me yesterday identifying himself as "Eric Woods" with Takhar Group in Niagra Falls, NY.  He gave me the same story about CH and said that if I didn't settle the matter it would go on my credit for "7 long years" (trying to stress the aspect of harming your credit).  I also told him to provide me with some kind of documentation, which he refused to do for a very flimsy reason.  He finally gave me his companies website www.takhargroup.com and it looks very fishy.  So I Google it and arrived here.  Thank God I did!  I was close to paying these morons because they refuse to get you off the phone and keep repeating the same drivel over-and-over again to get you to give them your credit card or bank info.  I feel sorry for anybody who falls for their crap because they want to protect their credit rating.

This number calls but I never answer because I have a telephone service  with a special ring tone when It's telemarketers and such types calling. To be on the safe side I do a *69 and sure enough, it's 877-207-0305. For your own peace of mind I suggest you check with your telephone service provider and subscribe to this type service if it's available.

I've been getting these calls also over the past year or so. I contacted Columbia House last April and had them send me an email confirming that I owe them nothing.
Takhar continued to call 3-4 times a day, and finally I called my cell phone carrier to have the calls blocked. The cell phone carrier dialed the number and spoke to the guy herself, got nowhere, then asked to speak to his supervisor who's name is "Nathan Jones." Jones finally agreed to stop the calls, and she has a recording of that conversation.
After we hung up with him she told me that she'd gotten the same calls herself, and it's quite a common problem.
Bottom line: complain to your phone company and ask their customer service department to make the call with you. It seems to have worked for me.

I get 2 -3 calls from these jerks a day.  The first time they asked for someone else so I told them they had the wrong # & hung up.  After days of receiving their calls I answered the call and told them they would be reported if the continued the harrassment, as this line was registered with the do not call list.  They still call...I don't answer anymore, just delete it.
I am getting ticked with all these calls, as they call at all times of the day. I'd gladly be a part of any who want to stop these scumbags...

Keeps calling my cell phone but sometimes I pick up and don't say anything. I have called the number back, at first it would never go through, then after a few times a middle-eastern man picks up and I ask what company is this...I couldn't even understand him. I asked like 3 times but still do not know the name of the company. I hung up! They keep calling though, at least 2 times per day.

This guy calls and says he must have a debit card number to pay a Columbia House bill that I don't owe.  I told him he was mistaken.  He threatens that if I do not give him the debit card number, he will "take action".  He has been calling every single day (except Sunday.. guess he takes one day a week off).  How can I stop him?  My telephone company does not have selective call block.

I have been getting calls on this forever.  My cell phone.  I don't answer numbers I don't know and I am sure glad I didn't this time.

If you are being harassed by a person claiming to be a collector just remind them about the Fair Debt Collection Act.  They are not allowed LEGALLY to harass you, threaten, yell, call you at work etc.  If a collector or "so called" collector gets nasty with you just hang up and dont let them upset you.  They are also legally required to send you documentation and proof of the debt and you are allowed 30 days (by law) to dispute the validity of the debt.  It is in the US Constitution that you can not be jailed or arrested for a financial debt (Just dont defraud the IRS).

Call, no message. I returned their call. "Michael" of the thick Indian brogue claims it to be a collection agency for Columbia House. Asked for my phone number, which I gave (figured they're calling me, they already have that ;-) and "Michael" accurately confirmed my name, address, and end date w/ CH. The problem here is that he's asking for $48 on an account I have paperwork as showing closed, zero balance. I, reasonably I believe, asked them to send me a bill. For this, I have to talk to his supervisor, who basically says "no".

"We've already sent you a bill."  Meh, I haven't seen it. Not saying you didn't send it, I just haven't seen it. I'm calling essentially a random number, NO I'm not giving you any account information over the phone. Send me a bill.

"This will go on your credit as a bad debt in less than 24 hours." You've been calling me for a week & not leaving messages, I'll take my chances. Send me a bill.

"We can take the payment as $48 right now, that's discounted 55%. If you wait for a bill you won't get the discount." Yeah yeah yeah, I don't think so. A minute ago $48 was the total charge, so that's all you're ever going to get out of me, assuming I actually owe that. I just want it in writing. Send me a bill.

And on and on and on. Ten minutes of, essentially, me shooting down his objections and helpful suggestions and sticking to my simple 4 word request. I'm not angry. I'm not being rude about it. I'm not making an unreasonable request or demand. SEND ME A BILL.

And that's when they hung up on me, your honor...

I didnt get a Middle eastern man but instead got a Jamacain woman. She gave the same threats about an overdue Columbia House bill of $54 and that she was putting it on my credit report if I didnt give her my account info right then. When I first got the call I didnt know what was going on and with fear of messing up my already sub-par credit I gave her my account information. I then called Columbia House to see what was going on and they asked me to send them the billing statement from the collection agency and that they would work with me. So after I tried calling the "collection agency" back the number of course didnt go through. Thats when I did some research on the web to find this website saying that its a fraud. After I found this out I talked to somebody who said that it didnt sound right and I immediately went to my bank to cancel my account. Luckily I got there in time. So later that afternoon, I get a call back from the same Jamaican woman saying that the card information was declined (whew!!) and that I had to give her a working debit/credit card account. We began to argue about the situation because she insisted that I didnt call columbia house and that she couldnt send me or them any info until I gave her my bank information. finally I asked to speak with someone else and she got mad and said she was reporting it on my credit and hung up on me! I never signed up for any columbia house anything, nor have i recieved anything from them. I just hope its over

I received a call today from a man with a foreign accent so strong I could not understand him. He knew my name and address. I told him I couldn't understand. After a few clicks another man with an accent not quite as strong, but still hard to understand came on the line. He was very rude and blunt. Telling me unless I gave him my bank account or credit card information immediatly, he would report me to the credit reporting agencies. I tried to explain that I wouldn't give him my information over the phone. I wanted written proof of my bill. After much discussion he said he would send it to me , but I need to give him my bank information today or he would still report me to the credit agency and I would have bad credit. I was back to the argument of before. I can't beleive that by the time I hung up I was in tears. I was in the process of paying the bill (which I don't understand, he said it was from Columbia House, for $87.00)just to save my credit when I decided to look them up on the internet. I clicked onto another web page that led me to this web site.  The number that came up is 877-207-0305 but the man who called himself Lee Williams, gave me a different phone number it is 866-202-1013. Lee Williams, has a strong accent for having a last name of English decent. I refused to give him my back account or card information. With more argumnet he gave me the following address. Takhar Collection Services, 1623 Miltary Rd, Unit #3537, Niagara Falls, NY 14304
I find the address and name of the company simular to that of the above comments.

I receive a call everyday from this number claiming to be TGC/TCS/Takhar Collection Services. The people have indian accents or middle eastern accents but names like "Phillip Thomas"...yeah right! I got so annoyed that I registered my number on the do-not-call list. But they still call, but now it shows up on the called ID as "out of area" or "unknown". They insist that I owe $256.27 to Shop at Home. I asked them what credit card was used for the purchase or what item was purchased...they said they could not send verification of this. I told them they had the wrong person, I did not have an account with shop at home, nor did I purchase anything from them for that amount. They said once that it was affecting my credit report, then on another call they threaten to report it to the credit agengies. Which is it??? I told them that I check my credit quite often and that nothing like that is showing on there. They asked me to send them a copy of my credit report to them so they can "verify" that. I asked them for a physical address, but refused to give me one. They said I could fax it. They are very rude on the phone. Today after the most recent call from "Phillip" I was extremely pissed. I told him up front that this call was being recorded. He then became irate and told me that I could not record the call because HE didn't give me authorization to record the call. I told him it was my phone and I can record any damn call I please. And I declared that I was recording the call up front, and that it was his choice whether he wanted to continue, or he can hang up. He then put me on hold so he could verify this from his supervisor. He then came back to continue with the debt I owed. I told him that they were violating the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about, he just kept saying "uh-huh", and continued to argue. I then asked for a physical address again so that I could send a formal verification letter that this account was not mine. He then said "Ok have a nice day" and hung up without giving me anymore info. I decided to find out what I could about this so called "collection agency". I called the number back to see what company or person I got. It was TGC. I pretended to be another person returning one of their phone calls. I gave them a random number off the top of my head, and as suspected he could not find my account info in the system. He asked if I was calling about the DVD debt with Columbia House...I playingly agreed. I told him that I wanted to send a payment, and to give me the address where I could send it. He quickly gave me an address : 1623 Military Road Niagra Falls, NY 16203. He also gave me an account "reference number" to include with the payment. I asked him how he was able to give me a reference # if my account info wasn't showing up with the fake # I just gave him. He then got nervous and was stumbling for words, then said he made a mistake. YEAH RIGHT! You just got busted SCAM ARTIST SCUMBAG! I wonder how many people fall for this scam?! BE WARNED! Anyway, I filed a complaint with the do not call registry and the FCC. Hopefully they will quit calling, and I work nights and sleep during the day!
