My call was from XM radio wanting me to continue a free subscription at a discount. Sounded sketchy so I asked him to call back so I could research the number. Looks like it's just a general marketing company.

actually it could be xm. I just got a new buick with free xm and gave my number out. now this number (8772090079) and 5195555555 call me daily. I don't answer and they don't leave a message. does anyone else have a buick or gm or free xm (or onstar) connection to these numbers?

Yeah it was XM RADIO got a great deal for only $5.99 for the first 3 months after my 90 day trial is over. Instead of the regular $14.99 a month. Not a bad deal I hear other people are paying the regular price and never get the chance to take it at a discount.

Hello people...

To confirm your post - I do believe that it is XM Radio calling. I recently bought a Genesis Coupe which has XM radio in it (Free for 6 months) which is expiring this month...

Total PITA

My calls though, don't say anything and then drops after 4-6 seconds of silence.

I have told this company repeatedly that I am not interested in extending my subscription but they continue to call. How do I get them to stop calling?

Any time a company calls frequently to try to sell something I make a point to never buy because of their annoying telemarking tactics.

I can confirm that it is XM Satellite Radio. I called the 8772090079 back and the automated message for XM answered the call. If you are attempting to contact a human, most options will not work (as of today). You can follow most of the options presented and in the end you are told "Sorry we cannot handle your call at this time".

So here's what you can do.

Choose the option that is meant for the dealers. You will be placed on hold and a human will eventually pick up. The key here is to remain calm.

I was expecting them to think I was a car dealer. Seems not to be the case. They will ask for your phone number and to confirm your address. I'm assuming they have this information showing up on their computer screen. I don't have a problem telling them that.

They will then ask for your birthdate, as a security question. If you don't mind revealing that information, go ahead. I don't. So they asked me to choose another security question. I just said "What is my pets name." I could here them key in the question. Then they asked for an answer, so I provided one.

At this point, they were happy to assist, "What can we do for you today?".

Calmly, I told them that we are getting repeated calls from 8772090079 and when I pick up the phone, there is no one there. It hangs up after 10 secs. I then told him the efforts I had to go through just to get to talk with him. He seemed to be really concerned about the fact that no one was on the phone when the call was made and that I had such a hassle with "Sorry we cannot handle your call at this time".

It was then I told him that I wanted them to stop calling otherwise I would seek legal action. A Cease and Desist letter would be effective I think. By this point, he was very apologetic and said he would immediately bring it up with his supervisor.

So this Nova Scotian will sit back to see what happens. If this forum doesn't hear forum me again then you know its worked.

Just an add on.... what really peeves me is that the Bell Aliant phone company will not let me add the 8772090079 to my call block service. There are select toll free numbers that they will not let you block, like federal fund raising, Bell's own telemarketers and apparently this one, XM Satellite Radio.

It is indeed XM radio and they are in violation of the Do not call list rules when they have a machine call you and there is nobody there when you answer. I called back and insisted that my number be taken off their list. If I wanted their service we would have called them.

I received a call at 11:20pm from 1-877-209-0079. My wife works at 6am, so she wasn't very impressed that they woke her up. I answered the phone, said hello 4x and waited for an answer. Companies use autodialers to call numerous phones at once. When you answer your phone it shows up on their screen. Anyway, the call disconnected without anyone even responding to me answering the call!

This is the first website I came across punching the number into Google. Reading these other stories, I realized that the Elantra we just bought came with an XM trial. So, I called the number back and sure enough XM Radio Canada. Here's the best part. I spent the next half-hour on hold, waiting for a representative to answer my call. Nothing. I went back to bed at midnight. Thanks a lot XM.

Yes, it is XM radio.  I recently purchased a Santa Fe, and as another person noted, the number is actually in the XM literature taht came with the purchase.  It is not The Hudson's Bay Company.  I advised XM that I did not want to extend my subscription and to remove me from their call list.  It can take up to 24 hours (this is because they refresh their database every night) but 24 hrs is a lot better then the 3-7 day crap most telephone solicitations tell you.

XM has been calling here on and off for my step-father, as he's recently purchased an XM-capable vehicle.  This call was irritating because their auto-dialer screwed up and all there was on the other end of the line was silence for more than a full minute.

This number 8772090079 called me 3 times in 40 minutes, The last time it was after 9 pm here in Canada and it is against the law to call after 9 pm. I answered City morgue. I hung up.My number is unlisted too, so this concerns me.

I have call screen so I will add the number and see what happens.

This is the outbound sales centre for XM equipped GM, Toyota, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus and Hyundai vehicles purchased new from a dealer. Customers will generally be contacted during their 90 day or 1 year free trial to sell a subscription when the trial runs out.

Haha, they have called me everyday for a week. I haven't answered yet because I was like wtf is a toll free number calling me for. I'm not answering because I don't want to be charged for the frickin phone call, because they always try and pull that. So I'm not sure who is the caller. But it is annoying.
