I got a call this morning at 8:00 am from an unknown caller.  Guy with an indian accent telling me I was selected to receive a $200 Walmart Gift card.  I asked what the scam was.  He tried his hardest to assure me it was no scam just that I was a frequent shopper and I had been one of 2000 people selected to receive a gift card.  I asked him that if I was to contact Walmart they would know of his company "Consumer Discount Network" and he said yes and then started trying his hardest to get me to cough up my credit card number since there was just a one time shipping fee for the gift card.  I told him I would need to look into his company and he told me to call him back his name was Austin Vegas (I couldn't help but laugh) his number was 1-877-209-1248 x271.  SCAM

They called me yesterday with the same claim. I declined, so he hung up on me. Then he called me again today, same guy. I reminded him that i had already declined. He stated that he was trying to help me. Like an a**, i gave him my debit card info, because I am a single mom and I need the extra help for christmas. Now, I'm reading all of these negative comments. I JUST cancelled my debit, but they already got their dollar. It's okay though. NOTHING good will come to you rats. Maybe you dogs needed it more than me.

i don't understand, i received a call last week and i was suspicious at first, but then they gave me their toll free no. 877 209 1248 and asked me to verify.
i called them back and gave my Credit card details, and have also received my gas voucher and the consumer discount network package and the $200 walmart card they promised, then i went online and checked my balance in my account and it seems they have only deducted $1 from my account.

My wife answered the phone and someone told us we had won a $200.00 Wal-Mart Card. (remember the kind of card because this will be important later)  But we had to call a differnet number. They gave us a confirmation # and we called the number and gave them the confirmation number.

After a little bit, the person at the call center said the card was for me and they would only be able to talk to me.

So I got on the phone and talked to a person I could not understand. The accent was a very heavy eastern indian accent.

He said I had won a plastic card that I could use anywhere that took plastic card up to $200.00 (the first caller said it was a Wal-Mart gift card) This immediatly rose suspcision. I knew now it was a scam to get my CC # so I played along for a bit.

I told them I was not comfortable giving my CC# so I asked for an address so I could send a money order, and he said it was fine but it would take a lot longer to get my "plastic card". But after several requests I never got an address.

So I asked him where he was calling me from and he said the office was in Phoneix Arizona.  I told him I know that, I wanted to know where he was I asked uhhhh maybe, India? After a long period of silence he said the office was in Phoneix and that is when I terminated the call and told him never to call me again or I'd force him to eat a hamburger.

I got a similar call last night from these guys.  They first asked for Steven.  When my wife told them they must have the wrong number, they asked if the number was 9272, and she replied that he had mistakenly dialed 9277.  He must have had an internet directory because he was then looking for me.  When I got the phone, I asked him why an AMERICAN company would hire someone with poor English to give away Wal'Mart gift cards.  He ignored my comment and continued his sales pitch.  I asked him to send me a $199 gift card and keep the dollar to pay for the shipping.  He said the cc# was to confirm the shipping and only a $1 hold would be used, and then credited back to the account.  I told him the only way he would get my account # was to PRY IT FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS.  He then wanted to validate his scam with a superviser.  So I asked to speak with his cousin, who was watching tv in the background.  So I told him I didn't have a card b/c I had filed bankrupt twice and the bank took my debit card and my credit card was cancelled for not paying.  I thought this lie would make them hang up, but they asked if I knew anyone who would had a card.  I said no.  He then said that the offer was only for Eric, so I told him that that dude had the phone number before me so I couldn't recieve his offer.  He left his phone # so if I changed my  mind.  He said his name was Frank Smith and to call him at 877-209-1248 ext. 359.  The number works.  If you call it one of them dot heads will answer.

I got a text that said...
Hi Lindsey (which is kinda freaked me out they had my name), thx 4 visiting our website call 877-876-8947 to claim your FREE $200 Wal-Mart gift voucher! Gift code: 77bad696.

So I called and the first person I spoke to told me I had won a Wal-Mart card for $200 and I ask him what website I had gone on to win this card. He could not tell me but was trying to continue on with his sales pitch. He had such a heavy Indian accent I keep asking him to repeat himself and he hung up on me. So I called back and spoke with another Indian man who spoke a little better English but was still very difficult to understand. He told me he was with Consumer Discount Network and that I had won  2 cards each for $100 that I could use anywhere not just Wal-Mart but I would have to pay $2.00 for shipping and handling ($1.00 for each card). He said all he would need was my cc# and exp. date. I told him I did not have a credit card on me at the time and he told me to call him back when I had one but that he did not have a direct ext. so I could speak with anyone. I then asked would my gift code number still work and he said what gift code number....I said the one I gave you when we first got on the phone, the one that was sent to me over text. He said, Well I can’t verify that number?? I said well supposedly you just did when I called that was the first thing you asked for. He then said just call us back when you get your credit card info.

So, I then logged into this site and am so glad I did! TOTAL SCAM…1st it was a Wal-Mart card for $200.00 and then it was 2 different cards for $100.00 each.  Oh and he was also telling me about some auto club. Something about just call back in a few days after I receive my gift cards and cancel the membership...this is why I did not give my cc info. It was very hard to understand either one of these men, they could barely speak English! So happy I did not give him my info!

I live here in East Tennessee and got the same call from an East Indian call center. Heavy accent voice tells me "Congratulations"!!! "You get a free $50 Wally World card." Catches? No catches. Hoops? No hoops to jump through. Baloney I say. "Really, it is just being for free sir if you are calling right away with the Gift code"
I'm no idiot. I've been around the block so many times I've worn a wolf circle around it. So I call the number to see which scam this is exactly. I love making those calls. Surprise , surprise, another heavily accented middle easterner answers. I lay on the thickest Mexican accent you've ever heard and dig for details while dolling out the biggest headache this poor woman has had in months.
Just what I thought I'd find.  Discount programs. Free trial first month, automatic charges thereafter. "No obligation" they'll assure you. You can cancel before the paid subscription period begins, they'll lie.
DON'T give these Vultures ANYTHING.  First they sign you up with two outside companies who kick them back a fee. Then they sell your info to every listing company that will buy it, so that you can enjoy a deluge of phone calls, e-mails, and junk snail mail.
But those first two outside companies will not let you cancel. They will tell you that you entered into a contract. The money will come out of your account. You will not be able to stop it. The bank will tell you that only the party initiating the withdrawal can stop the auto-drafts. You will pull out your hair, then close the account. End of story.
How do I know all this? Like I said before, I've been around.

OMG! THIS IS SO HILARIOUS. I JUST CALLED THAT 18772091248 AND A FOREIGN GUY ANSWERED THE PHONE. I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS CALLING TO CHECK ON THE WHEREABOUTS OF MY $200 WALMART GIFT CARD. HE ASKED ME FOR THE CONFIRMATION CODE AND I GAVE HIM A BOGUS CODE. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I GAVE HIM THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF DIGITS. I GAVE HIM 1192054378. HE PUT ME ON HOLD FOR NOT EVEN 5 SECONDS AND THEN RETURNED TELLING ME THAT I WILL RECEIVE IN 7 TO 10 BUSINESS DAYS. I ASKED HIM WAS HE SURE BECAUSE I THINK I GAVE HIM THE WRONG CODE, I THEN GAVE HIM 1192054318. HE DID THE SAME FAKE HOLD AND CHECK AND THEN RETURNED TO THE LINE TELLING ME THE SAME THING, BUT THIS TIME GIVING ME A 1-800 NUMBER TO CALL AND CHECK ON MY CARD. I CALLED THE NUMBER JUST TO MESS WITH THEM BUT IT IS AN ANSWERING MACHINE. LOL!

Got a call from a guy (thick Indian accent also) with the same offer-$200 gift card for walmart and he needed my cc # for the $2.00 shipping fee. He identified himself as Willie Jones and gave me the number 877-209-1248 Ext. 405. He told me to call him back to verify that it was lagit and to also check the BBB. After I didn't call him back 5 min. later he called me back and was very pushy. I told him I needed to speak with my husband and he said that he would call back at 6pm. Beware of this-SCAM!! Why do you have to pay for something that is supposed to be free. I was told I was getting the gift card because I had just gotten a new phone number.

Got the call also since they had all my information they wanted me to charge me $1 for them to ship me a $200 Wal-Mart gift card I told them that I was very unconfortable in giving them my card number. They told me that they did not wanted my "PIN #" all they wanted was my card # and the expiration date on the card. I did told them that I work in retail and did not need a pin # to run a card that a card can be run as credit as well.  I then told them that I didn't need a Wal-Mart gift card since I work for Wal-Mart then all of a sudden I heard a "click" where they hung up.

My mom just got a phone call from these people and actually offered to pay the $1.00 shipping and handling fee with a pre-paid visa.  The rep advised her that they couldn't accept a prepaid card and asked if she had a family memeber with a credit card that would pay the $1.00 for her. I'm glad I googled the phone number because I knew it was strange that someone wanted to give her a Wal-Mart gift card that she had to give them a credit card number to get!!!

I just moved here and immediately started recieving these calls from heavily accented Indian people who claim they have names such as Jim Carter and Mark Lawson. They cliam I have won gift cards from various stores. All I have to do is pay either $1 or $3.95 for s&h. Each time I tell them that I do not have a credit card and they keep giving me the same callback number {877-209-1248} with different extentions so that I can call back when I get a card. I knew this was a scam and have never called them back. Today I recieved 2 calls from them so I decided to go online and research them. There are a LOT of reports about this scam. They may not mention this but you are automatically signed up for some auto club and get charged anywhere from $19.95 up to $59.95 monthly and when you call to cancel they give you a hard time about it and they can actually keep charging your account under a different company name. The only way to stop them is to cancel your account. I truely hope that more people do not fall for this scam. DO YOUR HOMEWORK PEOPLE! NEVER GIVE OUT CREDIT CARD INFO OVER THE PHONE!

I received a call from an individual with a middle east accent informing me that to receive a $200.00 Walmart gift cetificate + some other goodies that I did not uncerstand because of his garbled use of the english language. I him
I wasn't interested on this and 3 subsequent follow-up calls. In frustration during the next call, I accepted the offer and gave him a credit card number BECAUSE he said the ceretificate would be mailed immediately and there would only a $1.00 until I received "somnething else ?? " in the mail.  My thought was when I received whatever in the mail - I was understand better and could straighten things out at that time.  Dumb decision!!  To date I have received no certificat and nothing asking for confirmation of the order. Howevere, my credit card account has been billed $49.96 for MOTIVATIONAL VENTURES IN;$59.95 for HOMEPLUSID; $20.00 for HOMEPLUS ID; HOMEIDPROTECT (some kind of applicance protection insurance I am told); and $49.96 for MAGAZINEENT.  I have not authorized or even discussed anything related to motivational informatin, appliance insurance, magazines, or anything other than a Walmart gift certificate. Last evening (Sunday, 10:25 PM) I was called and subjected to questioning as to I was disputing these charges with my credit card and the caller was furious when I told him never to awake me again.  He said he was with Consumer Discount Network but would not give me a telephone number. He hung up when I told him as turning the issue over to a lawyer.
