First things first---STAY OFF THE PHONE! They are trying to reage this debt, which is beyond the statue of limitations and uncollectable in a court of law.

Second---Go to this website and check the SOL in your state:

http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/statue-limitations.html

Third--Send them this letter VIA certified mail with return receipt requested. Be sure and keep a copy for your records:

RE: [insert account number or name of account or name of debt]:

Dear [insert collector's name or company name],

This letter is in response to your [letter dated xx-xx-2005] (copy enclosed) or [phone call on xx-xx-2005], concerning the collection of the above referenced [account or date].

I do not believe I owe what you say I owe therefore I dispute this debt. I am well aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and my state laws so I hope to save both of us a great deal of time by letting you know that not only do I dispute the validity of this debt, I have also checked with my State Attorney General and verified that the Statute of Limitations for enforcing this type of debt through the courts in (insert your state or the state in which the contract was signed) has expired. Therefore, should you decide to pursue this matter in court I intend to inform the court of my dispute of this debt and that the "statute of limitations" has expired.

This letter is your formal notification that I consider this matter closed and demand that you, or anyone affiliated with your company, stop contacting me regarding this or any other matter except to advise me that your debt collection efforts are being terminated or that you or the creditor are taking specific actions allowed by the FDCPA or my state laws.

Be advised that I consider any contact not in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act a serious violation of the law and will immediately report any violations to my State Attorney General, to the Federal Trade Commission and, if necessary, take whatever legal action is necessary to protect myself. Be advised that I tape record all phone calls and violations of the FDCPA can result in you or your company being personally fined up to $1,000 per incident.

Well My mother sent me this letter since my husband is military and we moved. I have contacted them and they told me its a credit card from 2005 . That was 9 years ago isnt there a law against that?
Also they told me 252.00 and it will go away as soon as i said i can pay them low monthly income they told me I owe 842.75. Well when I told them I am paying 2 student loans back plus paying bills and work a part time job they response was cant you ask someone to help you. Or take out a loan! Really !!!! If i had the money you would be out of my face! I explained to the guy on the on the phone my situation and he acted like I was lying to him! He told me they will garnish my wages Um i only make 125-150 dollars a week its part- time and pay 50 dollars (25 dollars each ) to student loans WTF! Than told me in 2011 They contacted my job and garnish some of my pay! How the hell did you contact them they said they only got like 300.00 HELP

It's Fulton, Friedman and Gullace. They collect for Asset Acceptance who bought a debt that is almost 6 years old. It would be over statute of limitations, but I'm in Ohio that has a 6 year SOL. They aren't getting a penny from me because Asset Acceptance sued me because I couldn't agree to pay 250 down+150.00 a month equaling 400.00 for the first payment. Seriously, who has that kind of money? Not me. I ended up paying it 2 days later, but they still sued me.Be careful with this one. They collect for other unscrupulous debt collectors like Asset Acceptance, who shouldn't be a publicly traded company.

Ofcourse it's not a legal notification.  Listening to a message on your own phone to find out what the hell is going on is your right. Everyone will listen to their own phone.    These idiots aren't even on the Radar.....dumber than soup..

OH!!  I forgot, here's a tricky underhanded thing they did:

The answering machine got it, and we're not even home to answer the call if we wanted to.  So the message says that if "by listening to this call, we are acknowledging that we ARE the person they're looking for" (which we AREN'T!), and if "we are not, then to just 'hang up' the call" (which you CAN'T do on an answering machine!).  Tricky, tricky, tricky.  I'm sure this is totally illegal, since they are asking you to do something you can't possibly do!

They identified themselves as:
Fulton Friedman & Gullace LLP
law firm for a collection agency

Have been receiving calls for a person I never heard of since 2007!! We just don't answer it, we let the answering machine get it and then delete. I've read that as soon as you talk to them, they then know they have a "live one" and will never stop calling you. They call a lot less than they use to, Now it's just hang up calls (3-4 per day), but I just got a new one today with this new law firm, but still looking for that same person we never heard of. Only this time it was a live person, not a robo call. Over the years, they seem to try every tactic to get you to answer the phone or call them back. Maybe I WILL report them to the attorney General, although I doubt that does any good. If it did, then these guys (and others like them) would be out of business by now.

Shows up on my caller ID as   F F & G. Not sure what type of company it is. I would not be a bit surprise if it is a collection agency. They seem to come up with a new number everyday, and I have to keep on adding them to the blacklist.
