City WIde Capital had some locator or processor calling me stating charges were being filed against me. A very very rude woman, provided phone number 877-881-4392 and a claim # to call to discuss the matter and said she would contact me again in 45 minutes. I spoke with Melissa Ford @ ext 316 who stated I had a loan on my closed Credit Union account. Gave a date and amount of when it was supposedly deposited in my account in Oct of 2011. Still had bank statements which didn't support their claim. She stated that I would have to show the court my proof that there was not deposit in my account. The processor called back from unknow number, pushy and very rude. Stated she was going to serve me. I asked her where advised I was not available at the address she had, she then stated at my job, advised her I was not at work. Asked what address would be best and I provided her a friends address. She warned me to be there and she would call 30 mins before coming and for me to provide ID . She never showed up. I called Michigan's Attorney General who states sounds like a scam. I really wanted her to show up..........

I received a call on Friday 4/18 from an obnoxious shouting man claiming to be Marcus Shaw presenting me with the same claim number I had already received several messages regarding earlier in the week from an Ava Monroe.  Marcus Shaw left a contact number for the so called Firm of 877-932-7829. Ava Monroe left the contact number 877-418-0330 which answers as City Wide and claims to be a pre-litigation company outside of New York.  This morning I am receiving a call from a person claiming to be with City Wide and that the above Locators have failed to reach me and  they (City Wide) are going to go ahead and procede with serving papers to me if I do not contact them by the end of the day today.  The number left today is 855-606-1325.  All of the callers come through as Blocked on my cell phone and as Out of Area or Private on my landline.  Oh and the caller today referred to me as the wrong gender.  The scripts they are using are all basically the same.

These idiots called relatives, left rude, threatening messages as well.  The number they gave for callback was 877-418-0330.  They stated that I owed some company from back in 2010, claimed that the threats were from their locator company.  When calmly told them that I needed a written verification of debt, they stated that they did not have to provide that because they are not a collection agency.  All attempts to get them to send me a written verification were met with "we're not a collection agency, we don't have to do that."  VERY aggressive, VERY threatening.   Absolutely refused to provide any mailing information so I could send a request for verification because they "already have verified the debt internally."  I called the company back to request a mailing address and was told they could not provide that due to safety concerns for their employees.  They wouldn't even provide a PO Box.

I too have been harassed by Citywide.  They claim to be a pre-litigation service that does not have to provide a "validation letter" as the Federal Trade Commission says they do.  I work for my attorney and was unable to get a mailing address and then had some process server/locator that said if I was not served in one hour I was going to jail.  This debt was not even for me, it is for my husband, but since he is a truck driver I was doing the leg work for him.  The number I was given was 855-253-8386.  Needless to say they were very rude, hung up on my husband and would not give an address. They did not want to send me any papers showing me that they were a legitimate company.  They do not have a web address, and I was transferred around to many people.  I got my attorney on the phone and he spoke with someone in the hopes of getting some information.  I am not holding my hopes out.

I too received a call for one of my employees - they called my personal cell,  and the main work number, that number for city-wide is 855-307-4948. The caller threatened me, her employer. When I returned the call a sweet voice responded and she took the numbers I did not want called again, telling her I knew this to be illegal. She stated that the threatening call was from their locator. She forwarded me to some complaint response department.
I am filing a complaint with the attorney general of California. I know that this is a scam.

Very rude man claiming to be Michael Cole contacted my place of work and asked for my supervisor.  This person left them a message yelling something about legal action against me and provided some kind of number they claim is assigned by the court system.  They have also contacted my relatives and anyone in my past also yelling the same in a threatening manner.  I filed a claim with my state's attorney general's office who advised to send City Wide a certified letter to cease any further communication.  However,  City Wide will not provide an address to do this and I am unable to locate their business on the web.  Is there anyone out there that has actually found if this place actually does exist and if so what is their address? The number they provided is 855-810-3587.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been getting calls from a number that caller ID says Unavailable or Restricted.  I receive voicemails from a guy with a heavy accent screaming into the phone that I have charges against me and gives me a case # to refer to then screams that I have been offically notfied. I called the # 855-515-3518 and it too is City Wide.  They wouldn't give me any information regarding this claim saying they didn't have to, even after I got an attorney on the phone to talk with them (I am a paralegal and work with attorneys).  The guy I got was very beligerant and said he was going to end the call because "what he was telling me didn't matter anyway" Then he gave me a supervisor named Miguel who wanted to me verify my address and SS# and such.

This collection agency has called both my work number and cell number 3 times with the same line about having just once chance to pay a debt, that they need to verify my name and address to serve me with papers.  Man that leaves the message is very intimidating in voice, but I still know that it is a collection agency.  I called a law firm, and they are now going after them for harrassment charges since I have followed the law, told them both verbally and in signed written form to stop the phone calls, and put anything they have to say in writing for my attorney to handle.  Since then I have gotten two more calls with same voice saying they are giving me one last chance to comply and pay my debt within 24 hours or I will be served at work and possibly arrested for non payment of debt.  Such a scam it is unreal.  I would love to meet these people in court with copies of both my letter as well as a letter back from them stating that there is no record of my account with them and recordings of all of their calls.

My recommendation to them is go ahead and serve me, my attorney is just waiting to beat down on low life scum who give lawyers a bad name when they pose as a law firm.

These people are harrasing me at work and dont seem to care that the shifty tactics they are using is breaking the law. They try and threaten you saying that they are a law firm or that they will come to your job and serve you papers. I even requested that they do so so I could handle this in court so that I could at least have the peace of mine to know that it was being handled within the guidlines of the law. They refuse to provide you with any information and instead ensure you that upon collections of funds you will be sent a receipt. There threats do not scare me but instead anger me to the point that I look forward to the day I can stand within arms reach of one of their representatives so that I may express my true contempt for them and the type of business they conduct. I have no problem paying my debts owed to a respectable up front establishment, but I will not be strong armed into anything by these cowards. If anyone has managed to discover where these snakes call home or any concrete contact info for their higher ups please share that info. They call me from a private number but leave a message to contact them back at 1-877-522-7560.

Thanks much on the info! I was scared as heck when they called my work! I since then called the police and warned them of what happened and they took the number and made note. I also called the company back and told them I changed my mind and wanted to be served with the documents. The guy was speechles and struggled to answer me. He finally said that he would inform the man and have them call me when he gets in my area. I told him i couldn't wait and would be waiting with my brother the police officer. The call ended there.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I received a call that was transferred from our main office to me. It was an "unknown" number on my caller id. The man asked me to verify my name, which I did. He then started to tell me he needed my permission to deliver legal documents at my work since they could not catch me at home. I found that odd since if I am not working, I am usually home. The man continued to tell me I was due in court TODAY! I panicked because I just came out of a messy divorce in which my ex created a ton of bills in my name and forced me to file bankruptcy. I immediately felt my heart sink trying to think of how I was going to make it to court since I had to work. He then gave me a case number with a number to call to find out the details. 877-210-9510. I ran out to my truck to call them and I got a place called city wide. The man spoke so fast that I had a hard time understanding him. He said I owed some money for a loan from a cash store that was taken out in 2010. I did not recall ever having one, but wouldn't put it past my ex to have done this. He had info on the date of the loan and that it was done online. I explained to him that I did not do it, but it could have been the ex. He said it didn't matter and that it was in my name and needed to make a payment immediately to avoid going to court today. I told him I was sick of paying the exes bills and could not afford it. He put me on hold and said his manager said they would settle the $6,000.00 debt for $150.00 if I did it today just to close it and get it off his desk. I was reaching for my wallet and I told him I filed bankruptcy and if this was legit, it would have been on there. He then put me on hold again. He then came back and said he found the court proceeding and that it has not been fully settled and that they can still come after me. I was not born yesterday and did all my reseach on bankruptcy to know that once I file I can not be pursued. I told him I needed to call my attorney and he tried to once again get me to pay because once I hang up the deal was void and this was serious. I told him I would risk it and hung up. I caled my attorney and he validated that I could not be pursued for anything after I was filed at the court house. I was tempted to call them back and tell them to go ahead and send the guy with the papers so I could be waiting with a police officer. I am still going to make a phone call to the police to notify them of the scam. Please be aware!!

My supervisor received a call from a 716-748-6869 lady named Selma Wright stating I needed to call 877-210-9570 not even 10 minutes later I received a call from the same woman caller ID said private number stating I needed to call the same number.  called the number and referenced my case number they asked me if I had ever received mail at some address I had never heard of and then wanted me to verify last 4 of my ss#.  I told them I could provide them with an address to send me a validation letter so that I knew what they were referring to she stated they could not do that without verifying caller explained there had to be some other way to verify me as I wasnt giving the last four of my ss.  She stated this call is going no where and disconnected the call.  Seems to me if they wanted to honestly collect a debt they would want to abide by the laws and send out information letting someone know who they are and what it is for.

These people called my cell phone back to back this morning, the number that appeared on the caller ID was 7748283686237 which is bogus in itself. After not answering the first 4 times, I decided to answer on the 5th time. Some clown asked for a person that I don't even know, then she asked if I knew her and begin to proclaim how important it is that she speak with this person regarding their case. I'm an attorney by profession so I completely understand how these things truly work and I knew that her protocol was 100% out of order. The idiot hung up and then called right back leaving a voicemail for the exact same individual that I told her I didn't know. She stated that her name was "Lydia Burke" which I assume is her pseudonym and her scripted threat went something like this "I'm contacting you regarding an order that was submitted to my office this morning. I need an address to present you with a formal claim regarding the charges that have been filed against you. At this point, you have one opportunity to contact the mediation firm dealing with your charges at 877-210-9510. This is your official notification." I know for certain that this some scumbag collection agency posing as a legal entity and I am definitely going to look into this further.

Received a call at my job from a gentleman asking for  HR or a supervisor so unknowingly I sent the call forward. He wanted to know the correct protocol for sending a legal letter, claiming to be a legal firm. He also asked for my correct address. We do not give confidential information out to just any caller.

I called the number and it was not a legal firm, it was a collection agency called City Wide???? I am sure they have my correct address.  I have lived the same place for over thirty years.  Its Bull.........
