Same as last. First caller was Marian, "unavailable unavailable" ID, strong accent. I was resistant and was given 1 877-212-3634 x253. My husband called the bank and was told "Financial Consulting Services" does not represent them. I called the number back and told Elizabeth who answered that we thought this was a scam. A little while later, we got another call from a local number, 321-332-0990, asking for information, again claiming to represent the bank.

I got a call from 402.982.0771 which identified as "Card Services." An automated message said if I was interested in lowering the interest rate on my Visa card, press 1.  When I did so, I was transferred to a number that my caller ID identified as 321.332.0990, and a young woman identifying herself as Pamila Hoffmann (with a very strong accent) answered and offered to lower interest rates on two of my credit cards.  She gave this toll-free number to call back with any problems, specifying ext #267.  This is clearly a phishing scam.

Received an automated call telling me to press "1" to lower my interest rate:  Was connected to Lamiza at extension 233, who had information on my credit cards, including the interest rates, some of the card numbers, etc.   We went back and forth (very difficult language barrier as she has a strong accent) about my skepticism on the services they provide and the pressure to do something on the phone.  Then received a Florida call from 321-3320-0990 from her going over the same things.  Hung up from that call and received a call from "Lynn" who is a manager and her called ID was blocked (I have privacy manager and it caught that one).  She was very nice, but high pressure sales tactics to get you to sign up for something on the phone.  They could not email me anything or send me anything before I made a decision.  Ended up telling her that I couldn't make a decision until I see something in writing, which she plans to send.  We'll see what it is.  Just think it's odd that they have so much of my information that they read to me.

Also odd that she could not provide a web site when asked.  In addition, she said "Listen to this" and I could hear her hit her fist on the desk three times.  She says, "Sarah, that's opportunity knocking".  At that point, I could feel the sh#t getting deeper and told her to send me the info in writing.  It's too bad, because if they are legit, it'd be nice if someone could help consumers to get lower interest rates.  I have never missed a payment, not late, etc., but have one card that has moved the rates up to 34.99%, which apparently is above the legal level of 32.0% (the 34.99% interest rate is through Advanta Bank, who I have called many times and they will not raise the rates.  Normally, I'm in a situation to pay these off, and I say for sure that the banks who are uncooperative with their best customers are going to lose them when things turn around.

Received Recorded call from Heather at Account Services stating I was elgible to have credit card rates lowered to 6%.  Caller id was 402-982-8771.  Pushed one to speak to an agent.  Spoke to Sarah who said she was from Visa and Domestic Card Services.  Sarah asked for the last four of my ss# and my credit card number, which I refused to give her.  I asked her for her phone number which she gave as 877-212-3634.  I asked her for her address and she said Miami Florida and said she had to call me back after she asked me for my home phone which I gave her as 847-733-8907.  Then she hung up.  I called 877-212-3634 and spoke to Rebecca.  I asked for her website to check them out and was told it was under construction.  Then I asked for their name and address which she gave as Financial Consulting Services, International,  616 Corporate Way Suite 2, Valley College, NY  10988.  We then hung up.  Could not find the address in Google Maps.

I too received a recorded call (display number 202-459-7122 - cell phone DC)regarding my Visa & MC accounts so I pressed "1" to see what it was as I was just waking up to this call and a bit groggy yet. I talked with a guy who said his name was Erik Hamt who could be reached at 877-212-3634 ext 265. They did have information on my account numbers such as balances and rates. He told me I'd receive another call to move forward on reducing my rates. I received that call from some guy (missed his name)who was impatient with me as I was looking up my information on my accounts and his company online. That caller ID was 954-889-7371 in Hollywood, FL.
I have talked with such companies before as I have one credit card through Barclays who jacked up my rate from 11.99% to 32% because I was one day late with a payment as my father passed away last year and I was one hour late posting a payment online this year with more personal tragedies in my life. I will cancel that account as I have the balance down to just above $200. I don't need the services of Financial Consulting Services, and I don't appreciate their tactics even if they are a legitimate company though I have my doubts.

Got call offering to reduce card interest rates. I requested Tel number to call to verify rates: gave (877) 212-3634 number.  Caller wanted me to provide him with information regarding my cards, stating that since he was not going to ask for security codes there would be no problem.

Got a call from "Angelina" at 1-888-333-3857 x234 saying she could lower my interest rate on my card down to 6% or so. She claimed to be from Visa and Mastercard Services or something, not any specific card issuer, which made me suspicious. But I had been paying down my highest-interest card very aggressively over the past few months, I thought it was possible they were trying to salvage whatever profit they could and stop me from paying it down so fast.

She asked to "confirm" my full card number and expiration date with them which rose a huge red flag for me, but they did seem to know a lot of intimate details about my account, like the current balance and the amount of the most recent payment I'd sent in, so I went along. Then she said her supervisor would call me back in a minute to tell me the lower interest rate.

In a minute got a call from "Adam Clark" who congratulated me on qualifying for a lower interest rate in the 6% range and said I would save $2,900 over the next year by accepting. I said, "Sounds great, thank you, will this come into effect by my next statement?". That's when he brought up the fee.

"Only $810 to lower the rate for the life of the balance." I questioned why I would ever have to pay for my card company to lower my rate, to which he was evasive. I said I would have to think about it and call him back. After a couple minutes of wrangling and him trying to pressure me into deciding right then he gave me his callback number, 1-888-826-1162 x303.

Looking at my statements I found he probably arrived at the $810 figure by multiplying the finance charges on my last statement by five. But have no idea how he could arrive at a $2900 figure for my savings. My 2010 YTD interest wasn't even that high, and much of that time my balance was two times higher than it is now.

So I called him back to confront him with this info and try to get some real calculations from him. He maintained that "credit card finance charges are compounded", which explained his impossibly high savings estimate. When I mentioned the x5 arrival at the $810 figure he immediately said, "Have a good evening", and hung up. I'm pretty sure all credit card representatives are required to stay on the line until you tell them they've satisfied all your questions and must ask for permission to end the call. Another red flag.

So called up my CC company using the number on my statement and talked with the fraud department. the rep there agreed it sounded like a scam and offered to either put a watch notice on the account or send me a new card. Though I had never approved any charges to my card when speaking to the scammers, I opted for the new number to be safe.

I'll be talking to the OCC and my state Attorney General's office to try to stop this. My mom would have completely fallen for it and who knows what it would have ended up costing her.

So, Wayne John (yeah, and I'm Martin Dean) at FCS and at number 1-888-826-1162 and at 1-888-889-8025 called today (extension 608 works at all numbers). Tried to scam my 77 year old mother out of $995.00. Said he could lower her interest rate at Capital One. He didn't do anything at Cap One - but sure charged her Bank of America card quick enough.  How do these parasites get their jobs...what exactly do they put on a resume to be qualified??? I cross referenced the numbers listed at the top of this blog with the number included in this post - both reach the same company.  He told her they were located outside of NY City - which is correct, I guess, Montreal is outside of NY City.  Mr. John said he could lower the interest rate from 19.9 to 7.4.  When I called to stop the transaction, Mr. John was not available.  The idiot I spoke to actually tried to convince me they were not scammers - duh. Anyway, she said they put my mother on a "payment plan" - which is not the same as lowering the interest rate.  I told her "just keep lying, I am not buying any of it". I told her I called Cap One and they had never spoken to FCS on my mother's account. I told her the actions had already been started at B of A to dispute the $995.00 charge. She puts me on hold, then comes back to tell me the transaction has been canceled.  Which is a ploy to have my mother stop the dispute process with B of A - which is not going to happen. B and A is well aware of the scammers FCS. The problem with these people is they judge the average Joe by their own intelligence - got news for you jerks, we're smarter than you.

I hten got on the phone with the credit card comopnay and cancelled my card.

They haven't stopped, just changed the callback # now it's 877-283-8065. Called today. I usually just hang up on these automated calls from "Credit Card Services" offering to reduce my interest rate, but I've been getting a lot of them and wanted to tell them to remove me from their list. The person I talked to wanted to know if I had $3500 in credit card debt and then started asking about my card with the highest interest rate. Mastercard or visa and the expiration then he asked the # and I told him I wanted more info on the company before I would give him that. He tried to tell me my card couldn't be charged with out the security code on the back and the card # was just for verification. Good one. He gave me the 877-283-8065 and x224 Charles to call back when I want lower interest rates. Called back just to get the Company name, so I could look it up. Good thing I did.

thes people continue to call my house, always sounding foreign, they keep rattling on about consolidating and lower interest rates on vredit cards in our house.  the joke of the matter is, we do not use credit cards at all, don't have any.  everytime i answer the phone, i repeatedly tell them to take me off of their calling list, tell them no one has credit cards, and the hang up on me.  this time the number on the caller id was 202-459-7122 and it said it was a washington d c call.  this omar gut gave me the number 877-212-3634 to call back, ( i tried to play it out, i am so sick of these calls )  then tried to tell him about having no credit cards and to take our number off the list, and he hung up.  i too have been on the do not call list for a long time.  i tried calling the number back to get info to reprt them to someone, but the 202 number says it is not inservice and the 877 number had me on hold for like 8-10 minutes.  after reading some other blogs, i will report this to the ftc and bbb

Same as others...claimed to represent Wells Fargo and would have a supervisor call me back.  He did and asked me for my account numbers.  I told him I would not tell them and he said we already have it would you like me to say it.  I said go ahead...he had it already but I didn't give it to him or anyone else.  Then he said he would call me back in 20 minutes with Wells Fargo on the line.  I called Wells Fargo and they said..."We do not call people...and that that was a scam." When an additional call came in, I didn't answer.

Have received mult calls in my voicemail over this summer saying that Credit Card Services was calling to offer a time limited offer to reduce my interest rate and to please call their number.  Since they never ID'd which card they were calling about, I assumed it was a bogus call. I always erased those calls.  Today, while home with a sick child, I got the same automated call and I pressed "2" as instructed to hear more info.  I was transferred to a woman with a thick foreign accent (eastern European?) telling me I could drop my interest rate to 6.9%.  When I asked which card she was talking about she said VISA/Master Card.  Odd, I thought, as they are two separate cards.  When I asked which card she was referring to, she said the one represented by Chase, Bank of America.  Odd, I thought again, as those are two separate banks.  She wasn't able to give me any info that would seem to identify one particular card she was calling about and I said I'd have to discuss it with my husband.  When I asked for a number I could call her back at, she gave me 877 212-3634 ext 237.  When I called that number back, it was just a general voicemailbox for "Financial Consulting Services".

I appreciate all the reports people have made on this website, which allowed me to report the incident to the FTC.  I am troubled that this kind of scam is still being conducted, as I'd guess these reports represent just a tiny fraction of all the people who've been called.

Received a call from this number (18772123634 )wanting to negotiate interest rate on my credit card account. The rep said his name was Joey and he wanted to offer me an interest rate of 6.99%. When asked what was needed to obtain this rate Joey requested the expiration date on my visa account. I responded by telling him I would need to further discuss this with my husband, and if I were interested I would call him back. A short time later, I called back the above number to further investigate and confirm my suspicions. I spoke with another rep who initially acted as if she did not understand what I was talking about, when I pressed her to explain this  service to me and all that it consisted of. (Which only confirmed what I believed to be true-A SCAM!!) I then told her that her services were not needed and politely disconnected the call!!!! Also verified with Visa that this company is not affiliated with them, and a fraud report was completed.

Got a call from "Mike at Visa & Mastercard" offering to lower rates. Was really dumb and gave them two credit cards, though with great misgivings. I checked with my credit card company on my cell phone and was on hold when they called back to tell me my new rate. The call-back person,"Adam Clark," seemed bothered that I didn't have cards with rates as high as they claimed.  He also told me some way off figures about how much I had paid in interest in the past year.  I suspected then that the company was interested in milking desperate people since I haven't paid much credit card interest at all.  He never got to the part about charging me to lower my rates.  He seemed annoyed and said "I will have to call you back."  I cancelled my cards immediately and suppose I am no worse for the experience--just humbled.  Before this experience I would have told you I was pretty quick at picking up on fraud, but I will now join the "sucker" group as well!  What I want to know is this:  If so many people have reported this scam, why can't they be stopped!

Received a call from "CELL PHONE DC" on my caller ID. Calling the phone number back it dials 1-202-459-7122, and I get a "the subscriber you are trying to reach is no longer in service" error. An automated message was played telling me I could lower my rate to 6 percent. "Press 1 to continue, press 2 to disconnect." I got an operator named "Elaina," who was a very hard seller, and was very anxious to get me to give her all the info she needed. Interesting thing was, she knew some info about me. My old address, with zip code, my full name with middle, first 5 digits of my card (easy to generate) etc. etc. But nothing that could really prove they were legit. I told her I was uncomfortable giving her my number, and she told me to call the 1-877-212-3634, number. I did call them and told them I'd just deal with my bank if they wanted to lower my rates, and that I was going to ask if they farmed stuff like this out, and that I was going to report them if it was false. She didn't seem concerned. I then got a call from "HOLLYWOOD FLA." on my caller ID. 1-954-889-7371 is the number called if I dial it. It answers with an automated message that Identifies itself as "Financial consulting services", same as the 1-877 number. I called my bank and they said that they NEVER farm out this kind of thing, and that it was likely an attempt to phish my CC info.

I gave them all the info I could about them..

Was called 8-25-2009 from Financial Consultanting Services offering me a lower credit card interest rate. It sounded normal so I gave them my card number which they did say they were with Master Card and I would receive a call back from a rep that would tell me what rate I would get. He called from 954 889 7371. He was to call me back in 30 min. that was an hour and half ago. They were to charge my Sears card $700.00 but not to worry it was to go into the interest amount. (????)I have contacted Sears Master Card and they are watching my account # and I can stop the charge if it should come through. They are awful to give us hope to lower or bills. He said he could get it to change from 23% to 10%. I am an older person who has lots of CC debt and on a fixed income. I am in tears now because I beleived them.

Pretty much the same as the other comments. When I refused to give my credit card account number (for about 5 minutes), I was given to his supervisor. I insisted that I don't feel comfortable giving credit card numbers to random people that call me at home. They said that call wasn't random, I've been chosen. I said that I would consider their deal if I was given the details in writing, I WOULD NOT "make deals" with my credit card on the telephone to random people. The supervisor said that he cannot give me the details in writing because they need to confirm that I qualify for the lower interest rate. I asked him how he knew any information about any of my credit cards and he said that he didn't have it, he just needed to confirm that I had a credit card balance for $3,000. and that I wasn't over my limit. He said that he was just trying to help me and he couldn't help me if I didn't give him my credit card number and he wasn't asking for any "security" related questions (i.e. SSN, CVS, etc.) I told him that giving out my credit card number is "security" related to me and he said that he couldn't make any charges to my credit card without the other information. After 10 minutes, I told him that I decline his offer.

I also asked if they have a website and they ignored my question.

Telemarketer
i know everything about that company and i will share it with u today
first of all it is called FAS. they r locating in 4 places America, Lebanon, Canada, Egypt
they said that they r lowering the interest rate for your credit cards.
and they will try to get your credit card number, the expiration date, zip code, last four digits of your social and so on
after they take those information they will charge your credit card with $700-$1000 despite they would tell u it is not out of your pocket expenses ( liars )
they will tell u we have already the credit card number and ur information but u must confirm it with me to know that I'm talking to the primary card holder( bull s*** )
they will give u many reasons to persuade u such as the information that I'm asking u is not the information that gonna make u unsafe ( really ?!!)
i need u to confirm with my ur credit card number just to pull up your balance on my computer system ( liars )
they will tell u I'm gonna give u my toll free number, my name and my extension number.
note: the number that they gonna give u is not the number of the automated message that u got at the beginning.
those people have answers for each questions u have just to get ur information
for example they will tell u: to make sure that the card isn't expired confirm with me the expiration date
to make sure that we have the correct mailing address confirm with me ur sip code
to make sure that I'm talking to the primary card holder confirm with me your last four digits of your social or the whole of it in case of people that have direct merchant

warning :
those people have many starting numbers of the credit cards
like visa always starts with 4 and master always starts with 5 and American express always starts with 37 and discover always starts with 6011
and they can also suggest the first four digits of your card and it is normal because if u have a visa from bank of America they will tell u that your card number starts with number 4444 or any number else  because they have a list for the common starting number for each type of credit cards for many banks

by the way the owners r (Mike and Sam)

I'm sorry that i talked so long but i wanted to just let u know some parts of the true

Apparently you can offer you this service inorder to lower rates and you will charge you $900 to do so. You ended my call telling me my rate will be increased to 29% for refusing the offer. No, us Americans are not that stupid. Your buisness is unethical and you should be ashamed to make your living trying to belittle people making an honest living. Thanks for nothing Alexxandro at 1-877-212-3634 ex. 226. And what does "buthring" mean? I believe you mean bothering which is what your buisness is..S**T

They called me today. The same thing asking for expiration date, they knew my address and first numbers of my Master card. I told them how it was possible to lower the interest rate if I called  the bank yesterday asking for the same thing and the bank said they can't do it!! I talked first with a woman named Saara, and after a few minutes I received a call from Adam Clark 954-889-7371 who said they going to charged me $800, when I said WHAT?!!! he hang-up right away!! I called my bank and cancelled my card. The info that they gave me was call: ph 877-212-3634 they answered from Financial Advisory Services,in  my caller ID-the first call was from a phone number 202-459-7122 this phone it's not in service
