It also mentions to call Lashanda Ward or something like that.

If you call try and use a payphone or a disposable cell phone.  That is what I will try and get these people to stop harrassing me.  If I owe a debt, send me a letter.

Debt Collector
I started getting calls a couple of weeks ago.  They are multiple calls throughout the day from morning until night and drive me nuts.  I never pick up.  No message has been left.  I assume it is a bill collector.  Probably for someone who had this number before I got it a year ago as I had a similar problem with another caller last year.  These kind of collection tactics are evil - people should pay their debts if they can, but not to these kinds of collectors on pure principle!

They can call all they want.  If they had more than my phone number, I would have a letter in my hands.  Their phone call means nothing.  If you speak to them, tell them to send you proof of debt.

Under the federal rules and guidelines of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) debt collectors are required to send all debtors a validation notice within five days from the date they first spoke to the debtor regarding that particular debt. The notice must be in writing and must inform the debtor of their right to dispute the validity of the debt. Any disputes must be presented to the creditor within 30 days and should be provided in writing.

Proof of Debt
After being contacted by a collection agency consumers have a right to request validation and proof of the debt they are being accused of owing. If the debt is disputed, the collection agency is prohibited from contacting the consumer until they have provided them with the requested information. Consumers have a right to dispute the entire debt or any portion of that debt and have a right to know who the original creditor was.

Any request should be in written form and mailed via certified return receipt through the local US Postal Service. In the instance there is a lawsuit, this procedure will provide the consumer with valid proof of the letter?s mailing and a signed, dated receipt when the creditor received it. Below is a sample Request for Validation of Debt to be placed on personal letterhead.

The best way to avoid this annoying calls is by disconnecting your phone line from the wall outlet and connect it back only when you need to use it..

I have been getting phone calls from this number starting last week.  I don't have any bad debts and would like to know how they got my number and why, but when I tried calling back they had me on hold and after about 10 minutes I hung up.  I thought collections would be a human being immediately if they can get in touch with you.  I would like to stop this harrassment.

Debt Collector
Well for myself, it goes like this.  I get this new phone, and it is only a few hours old and all of the sudden  get a call on it.  Hooray, my first person is calling me.  Its this 1-877-212-7434, and it is a robot voice.  It says I owe a debt, and to call a 1-800 number......  so I hung up.  First off, I just got the number, it has never been given out to anyone.  Second of all, it is a robot voice, not a live person.  Third, I do not know if they are contacting the right person...... I don't have anyone I owe money to.  And of coarse I am not going to call them back and set up their system to automatically start harassing me.   If they have a live person who wants to call me and identify just who they are looking for, then I will talk.  Not before.

This number called me a few times over the past couple of months. When I called back a Computer voice told me that" It would transfer me to the first available representative". I hung up before I was transfered. I don't know how they got my number, I live in GA!
