The calls started back yesterday.  So I reported back to my phone companies and the Federal Trade Commission.  They call both cell phones and landlines.  So I filed a report.  FTC.gov or 877-382-4357 to file a report.  The phone company says do not pick up the phone at all.  The more you communicate with them, the more calls you will get.  The more noise gets attention.  Walk away.  My phone company has a block # feature and allows several to be blocked.  They have a trace and trap which is why they involve FTC once it gets to be so many calls a day.  Plus, they target the person at home (i.e. the homemaker, retired couple, etc.), by having your cell # then they can even text you  or send inappropriate photos.  They can leave inappropriate messages on your answering machine for your spouse.  It can escalate if you interact with them at all.  On one forum, I read where it almost cause a divorce due to all the targeting of the family they were doing...pure evil.  Be aware and stay away.  Period. If you don't know the # do not answer the phone.  Same with an email.  Don't read forwarded messages, etc.  Be safe.

You are right.  They starting writing on page one to make people think, I need to call and give all my information and save my credit.  No you, do not need to call.  They are cunning enough to try to jump start the game.  Never ever give anything over the phone or computer.  Scammers and Hackers.

Same .  Automated call.  Except states Suntrust Bank.  Asks for our actual names.  Gives us a # to call back and then states there is no message.  Total scam.

The calls keep coming, even use a family name.  But, I check back here to read and I know not to respond.  It is a scam.  I felt like it had to be since our bank is local???  We know our banker, personally.  If there is a issue, they will contact us personally.  Not with an automated machine.  And on a first name basis.

This number is a fraud.  All those stating it is "legit" is part of the fraud.  The person on the phone asked me for my entire Soc. Sec. Number (scary).  What the hell was she thinking?
This is a SCAM and my bank comfirmed it.  Especially since my name has been changed and the bank uses my new name and the automated call used the old one from 10 years ago.
THIS IS A SCAM people.  And the scammers are writing in this block to make it look real.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

WRONG. It is a phishing scam pretending to be Citibank. Call your Citibank number on the back of your card and they will tell you exactly that.

This is what my Google voice recorded from them - it is identical to what the Indian speaker was saying, and I have no idea what they are talking about, nor do I know anyone with that number or by those names.  "A  spot  HI,  My  name  is  Max  and  I'm  calling  you  from  David,  No  fees.  Office.  And  that  look.  I'm  checking  on  the  text  as  far  as  the  Member  Janet,  Bessie,  their  number  right  number  is  (148) 004-4159  and,  I  called  that  number  is  (677) 215-6331. And  extension  on  Bristol  059.  I'd  You  can  call  me  back.  As  soon  as  possible.  Thank  you,  bye."

I didn't call the number given but instead called the number from their website. Citi confirmed it (phone number) was legitimate. They had concerns of various charges on my account. All were fraudulent. Some originated from France and other were multiple charges from Vonage.

I agree with previous posters. Don't give information just because a posting states it is a legitimate number. Take matters into you own hands and call Citi directly using the number on the back of your CC or their website.

This is a legitimate call.  I did not give out any information, but called the Citicard telephone number on the back of my credit card.  They confirmed they were checking on out of country charges that came through my account.  Glad they called.

This is a legitimate call.  There was unusual activity and they were confirmed with me before allowing the charge to go through.  I authorized the charge and thanked them for asking.

I work for citi as a fraud analyst.. and i do understand that it is suspicious receiving voice messages and tells you to call a certain phone number and then asks you for your cc number. you just have to be very careful guys.. BTW... it feels so good that some of you are very appreciative of what we do. Your protection is our top priority! thank you for choosing CITI!

This is a ligit number under Citi Bank. I got the same call, at first I was very skeptical, checked with my credit card company who said there was nothing unusual and couldn't explain why my charges were denied. And, my card was blocked still, even after their assurance. So I called this number and they confirmed some suspicious activities (nothing fraudulent though, and the card was unblocked),  So sometimes, the right hand does not get to know what the left hand is doing; (as it turns out, my bank card was issued under Citi Bank).
It's still advisable to call the number in the back of your card.

After reading all the discussion on this and other phone number search sites I took a chance on calling 877-215-2648.  The number is legitimate.  It is a 100% automated system wanting to ask you about specific transactions.  You only have to give your zip code.  I would not give my full CC number or other vital info if asked and was ready to hang up at any suspicious point.  It knew 2 specific transactions from 2 different stores that were legit.  There is no realistic way someone attempting fraud would have known about these transactions (2 different stores and the exact dollar amount and the day of the charge.)  After responding by hitting "1" to both, the computer voice said it will acknowledge these charges as legit.  It was that simple. This system was probably set up to reduce costs of asking customers about suspicious transactions as it is 100% automated not requiring a live person.  Before calling this number or the number on your card, have your recent receipts ready to confirm transaction dates, stores and dollar amounts.  Like I said, it focused on 2 specific charges out of about 30 charges I've done over the past month.  They will ask you details first.  You do not have to volunteer anything vital at any point nor should you.

I got a call from this number but decided to call directly to Citibank by phone number on the back of the card. They told me that there is no suspisious activity on my card. They also told me that 877-215-2648 number is NOT a Citibank number and gave me a REAL fraudulent department phone number.

Had voice message from 877-215-2648 saying it was CitiBank Fraud and to call 877-215-2648.  I phoned the number on my CitiCard and asked about the number. They informed me that both are VAILD Citibank numbers and that the 877-215-2648 went straight to their FRAUD department. I was able to take care of the info they needed with a call to the number listed on my card.

if there is an alert on your account. even though you dialed the customer service # at the back of your card. you will not be speaking with a cs rep. your call will be routed automatically to the fraud department.
good thing that citibank has this kind of service. if your card has been denied for some instance. and if you are confident that you dont have payment issues with the bank, dont be upset or embarassed, the bank is only checking the transaction. it's better to be safe than to be sorry :p

This is LEGIT.  When you call the number and enter the personal message code, it retrieves a message asking you to verify any recent purchases.  It does NOT ask for your card number, social security number or anything else.

I'm uber suspicious about any type of automated credit call call but this one is legit. It was triggered by a weasel website merchant who was charging me for an unauthorized purchase.   Just thought you should know...

I also got a message from this number. I called the citi customer service number and they asked for my account number also right after I input it by touch tone.

So I didn't speak to that person either.

just to let you know guys that if you retrieve the message from this #. it will not ask you for any personal information. you will only need to verify your zip. but if you called the # directly. of course the rep will ask for your cc # because you are the one who's calling the bank directly. afterwards rep will verify some basic info for you to confirm your identity. you guys can save this # for your future references. if you have questions about the security of your card you may call the fraud unit directly. instead of you waiting forever calling the regular cs #. anyways, calling the # on your card is still safest way if you are unsure of any phone # calling you in regards with your card :p
