I get several calls from these criminals, too. But all you ladies and gentlemen need to understand that CRINIMALS are what they are! They are trying to "scare" some money out of you. You can talk all you want about FDCPA, calling your attorney general, wishing to speak to their supervisor about their behavior, etc. ... they don't care - these people are CRIMINALS, please understand that.
1) you can't be arrested for not paying a debt, nor can you be sued out of state - they must file papers in your home town, and they certainly have no intention of doing that
2) your information was "purchased" by a bottom feeding PDL company - if there was a debt, it could've been more than 5 years old, and most likely paid off
3) the phone numbers they use don't necessarily indicate where they're calling from - thanks, US Gov't for deregulating the phone industry in the 1980's! NOT
AGAIN, these people are comon CRIMINALS - you just have to be strong and not let them get to you!

I meant to say "from the payday loan company" .  Additionally, even after amount owed is payed these predatory lenders sell the information to other illegal companies and the cycle continues until the bank is made aware and the accounts are closed.

I appreciated your post.  I do, however, want to comment on the payday loans.  Oftentimes the loans are paid in full but because of the "creative" structure of the payday loan amounts owed continue to accrue long after debt is paid.  Many of the tactic are illegal in New York and New Jersey and as I result my family member was able to receive restitution for the payday loan company.  However, RPG doesn't recognize that restitution and has continued their tactics to recoup what amounts to as phony debt.  People need to understand the structure of the payday loan and these horrific debt collection agencies that are in tandem with them.

sounds like you may be a debt collector.  It is illegal to use the tactics used by RPG.  They buy bad and oftentimes phony debt for pennies on the dollar and begin the harassment proceedings in an effort to recoup their investment.  Two of my adult children have been involved in illegal attacks by these type of predators.  My one child was in college and had his name attached to debt that belonged to someone with his same name (not middle name - wasn't important criteria to the debt collectors who called constantly threatening all sort of stuff before we did our own research)  Most recently, my other child was the victim of predatory loan scam that resulted in their bank account nearly cleaned out.  This child reported the crime (and yes it is a crime in NY and NJ) and was able to receive limited restitution of the monies stolen from the account.  However, RPG with or without knowledge of the restitution made to the real victim has bought this phony debt and has broken every  FDCPA law in contacting everyone with the same last name all across the country, threatening imprisonment, and at times, resorting to the most foul mouth name calling and verbal bullying that I have ever encountered.  I can only imagine the impact on vulnerable populations when affronted by these attacks.  I urge all to call their state's attorney general and local authorities.  I am including some of the numbers used RPG employees  877 215-9182, 855 393-4770, 980-225-1166, 716 568-7925, 716 853-8404

I received the same type of call. Was scared at first and I work for an attorney.  I called the Ohio Atty General's Office & the Ohio Deputy Office and they both said they cannot come to my job. RPG also told me that they would "freeze any/all of my bank accounts", also NOT TRUE. Atty Gen office also told me to request from them a written document stating what I owe, I did same and RPG sounded pissed.

Wow! I thought I was the only one with this issue. RPG started calling me in October, talking about a payday loan I had. This payday loan was back in '09 I think and they just start calling about it. So I go out and  purchase a Green Dot card. I made one payment, not really thinking about it because I know I do have a loan out. Well, do to different issues taking place, I was not able to make the next months payment. They began calling my job. Claire Coleman at 716-568-7925 is the most unprofessional person I think I have ever come across! She has made several threats to me about how she is going to send court ordered papers to my job and to my house ordering me to pay like 35% of my income. I dont know whether to believe her or not. It seems fishy, but I just dont know.

Received a very threatning phone at work stating they were from the county courts and will be serving a summons Friday Jan. 18th from between the hours of 12p-4p. Wanted to know if I would be at work. I told them no and they said I would be served at my home. Stated they could stop the summons if I stop at Walmart and purchase a prepaid card and start working out a payment. Stated they preferred prepaid card versus taking money out of my bank account. They emailed me a letter that I asked for that showed a debt. I told them that I had no money deposited in my bank account at that date and time. They were rude and hung up on me.

I got a call from these people and I only have one outstanding debt that I am making monthly payments on, so you are not correct in assuming that because people recieve calls like this they deserve it or they have outstanding bills. If a debt collector wants to actually obtain any money from someone then they need to adjust their behavior, and they need to have written proof that they are readily able to supply to the correct address and name of the person they are looking for; the people recieving the phone calls shouldn't have to argue with them for them to do their job...you want money I want proof in writing!

I too have been receiving calls from a Resolution Performance Group or RPG as they like to be called.  Say they are collecting on a supposed payday loan that if I don't make resolution they are filing charges on me for fraud and theft by check.  What they won't answer is whether or not they are licensed and registered in TEXAS or even NEW YORK where they say they are located to be collecting debts.  SABRINA - the lady that is the supposed MANAGER on the account states that they bought the debt - GUESS what that makes them - 3rd party bottom feeder debt collectors that MUST obey the FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT and all her threats have incriminated her and her company.  If they were legitimate they would send ORIGINAL PROOF of the debt with no problem.  She states they are sending a "LETTER" concerning the debt which is not what I asked for - I asked for ORIGINAL PROOF! She has 30 days from the date of my request.  Couldn't make that request in writing because she refused to give me a mailing address - another FDCPA law breaker!

GET A LIFE RPG AND SABRINA!  YOU HAVE NOW BEEN TURNED INTO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE OF TEXAS, NEW YORK AND ALSO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION!

These people called me asking for someone else. I asked to remove my number because no one here by that name.  Next thing I know I had been placed on hold with out even being told.  I waited so I could complain how rude that was and the lady went off on me and said I was wasting her time and she didnt care about anything i had to say, but shes the one who called me.  She yelled at me, was rude and ugly. Small sad, sad people doing a scam job because they are worthless and cant do any better.  I decided to play a childish game and continue calling and calling and calling, then was told I am being tracked and will be reported to my sheriffs office. So i called back again and again and again.  oh boy do i hope i get a day in court with them!  Maybe everyone should just start calling them several times a day....
the number they used is : 443-957-43074
I have had my share of dealing with collection agencies and NEVER have been treated so ugly.  Im sure this is a scam and feel bad for anyone who they try to get a hold of.

Had a call from a restricted number today, decided to answer it. It was a man claiming to be an investigator, and he had a court ordered summons to serve me, but i could call this number to talk to the collectors. I called the number and pressed 0 like the automated recording said. I get a man he tells me who they are collecting the debt for, which was an actual legitimate debt i owed. I stated that i could not resolve the debt now, as i am unemployed and my UEI has actually run out. He stated that i should talk to one of their "specialists". After being on hold for 5 minutes a woman answers and she is speaking to me with a very condescending tone. I stated i have no income and she asks how i am supporting myself. That in my opinion is not any of her business, and i remark that i am living in a trash can behind Wal-Mart. The she said she doesn't need to hear my psycho babble b***s***, and if i want to be a smart a** she will have the sheriff come to my address to see that i do not live behind a wal-mart and blah blah blah. I paused and asked her if she just cursed at me. Then she hung up. I called back and pressed 0 again to ask where i file a formal complaint about their employees using abusive and derogatory language with me, and it was her. She told me the call was being recorded (no duh) and i should know there are laws about harassment over the phone. No kidding, i replied, i am calling to report just that. She hung up on me again... Maybe i will call back tomorrow.

I got a voice mail today from a Mr. Gaston claiming he was calling me from the local county court office. cracked me up because he said office and not court house. claimed I would be served a summons to appear in court within the next 48hrs, unless I called 877- 215-9182 immediatly and that he would work out a settlement. I called a friend of mine who just happens to work at that particular court house and she said there is nothing in my name going out.

I don't think so, I am going to file a complaint with the NY AG's office though.

Impersonating a county official or federal employee is a felony, so I hope these people get busted soon.

I understand they do not have to be polite, but they are not allowed, by law, to threaten you in any way. Threats of arrest are against the law. Until they follow the laws of the Fair Dept Act, why should we be considerate to them. If they will use any tactic to try to collect, then we should use any tactic as a deffence. I completely disagree with your post considerring the tactics RPG uses, on my self and others. Please read the posts in full before you make a judgement statement regarding a specific collect agency.

I got the call about attempting to defraud a lending institution last week with a threat of county court proceedings soon if I don't work things our first. The guy on the other end sounded very convincing. I decided to ignore it after reading these posts. I still don't know who he is trying to collect for. He never said. Good to see similar posts about RPGs antics.

well, alot of collection agencies use alias to protect there employees. I heard from a friend of mine though that worked at a legitimate collection agency that by law there required to use there real name, but I'm not really sure.

Oh, that would definitly stop the calls. Collection agencies like this feed off debtors that have little knowledge about the FDCPA. The more you learn about the FDCPA the better off you will be. You will be able to turn the tables on them and be able to ask legal questions to get the answers that the collectors obviously wont have in return. You can catch these collectors at there own game but you just have to learn the laws and rules, you can turn it right around and use there scare tactics against them. Collectors get very frustrated and scared when dealing with debtors that actually know what there talking about

If the collection agency was legitimate and calls are being recorded then the company would need a licensed attorney verifying all recorded calls. The collector would be at fault and there consequence will be termination of employment. If nothing is being done, and the same collectors keep calling you then note: Management is in on it.

Rpg is a collection agency, and for them to tell  you that they work for the IRS is extremely illegal. Hope you recorded the conversation. You can get them big time for that. According to theFDCPA that is misleading you of there representation of who they actually are. And posing as the IRS is definitly not good for them. I hope you take the time to file a complaint with the ny attorny genral and have documented your conversation along with who you spoke with(even if not real name) time, date, and whatever was said. If the debt is legitimate- either way, Posing as a process server,IRS employee, threats to garnish wages and put liens on your home and threats of going to jail or discussion with third parties about your debt is quite illegal under the FDCPA .

The Rpg group uses alias so it will be hard for you to pinpoint persons in the company but Tina swain is not her real name,Shawna Patterson is what was used when she called me so i'm assuming thats her real name. Most of the people that call and harrass you from RPG are not using there real name. Rpg and companies like rpg have been in the business of scamming people so long that they know the loops holes and know what the Ny authorities expect from them. Whether its lies or not the company knows how to pull strings for the matter to not be investigated further. I had to file so many complaints pertaining to the company and nothing. this has been going on for months an months and months. If you feel you are being taken advantage of follow the FDCPA. But be aware that the laws are different in other states.

I have read all of the messages on these pages as I have a friend going through this same thing with the numbers identified.  What I do not understand is if this is so widely spread affecting so many different people and has been going on for awhile (last November 2011 was the initial message logged) all coming from the same numbers, why have officials not tracked this down?  The teleohine comoanies give out numbers, so they can pinpoint where the number is coming from.  Also there is much documentation here about New York and notifying authorities there, but I know of at least 2 people that is happening to in Texas.  Also,  the name Tina Swain or Slain is coming up frequently from what I see here.  What is the FDCPA doing about this?  I worry about all of those that have no idea that it is a scam and are giving out vital info and are paying out $$$ to these people.  There are some ligit companies out there named "RPG" or Resource Performance Groups and how is this hurting them???  It is all perplexing for sure as to why the authorities are not tracking down these people that are terrorizing so many and how they are coming up with so much information - knowledge of family numbers, work place numbers, cell phone numbers, where banks were/are, etc.  It is very scary that so much information about private citizens is out there and being found by this group of scammers.  I have not been contacted by this group but let me assure you all of my family will be informed - fore warned is fore armed!
