I got the same message: "Thx 4 Visiting Our Site Call 877-220-2710 To Claim Your $20 Wal-Mart Card Plus $50 Gas Card! Reply STOP 2Unsub".
The only thing I can think of is that I just purchased a flight through Priceline.com, as I have not made any other purchases online in recent history.
REMEINDER TO ALL... NEVER CALL BACK!
It only confirms that your phone number is active. At this point, the company will continue to call and possibly sell your number to other 'fake' companies in attempt to get you credit card number.
SCAM, be careful!

My wife almost got caught w/ this one. She used a pre-paid debit card to pay for the shipping of the supposed $50 gas card. They got upset when they realized it's a pre-paid card. I HATE SCAMS.

I reported this scam to FCC and they replied with a letter stating that this is not an actionable claim because it does not violate FCC rules...what in the...? FCC sucks.

Number has been shut down, however the operate under many different numbers. Don't be surprised if you get the same text with a different 877 number, as I did.

Received a call from 415-745-0964 with the following text message: "Thx 4 Vistiting Our Site Call 877-220-2710 to Claim Your $20 Wal-Mart Card Plus $50 Gas Card! Reply STOP 2Unsub".
Now, I am aware of any site I visit and did not nor do I visit any WEB site that promote free stuff. So I called the 877 number and let some guy with and Indian accent do his pitch. After he told me about the free $20 Wal-Mart Card and the free $50 gas card, I asked hime what this was going to cost me. He said it would only cost me $2.00 for the shipping and if I agreed, they would ship the package out to me right away. I also asked him where he was calling from and his reply was Pheonix, AZ. Since I am a pretty savy guy and I have been around for awhile, this was a something for nothing scam. I did not wait for him to ask for a credit card and he knew I was calling from California. However, he could not read my telephone (land line) number because it is blocked and unavailable to the public.
So, here is the deal ladies and gentlement...this is a first rate scam and should be reported to the FCC and you cell phone carrier. Everyone of these people are from the middle east (get the picture) and they think all Americans are stupid.

Got a phone call asking for a call back from this number to claim my $20 WalMart card. Glad I looked this up first.

I also got text message, from phone number 650-995-6868 at 6:00am. Asking me to call 1-877-220-2710 to get $20 wal-mart gift card and $50 gas card.

I spoke to them last week, answered by an Indian-accent guy. He asked my Visa card number, I was stupid to give it to him. Then he continued on asking my SSN. At that point I realized this is a scam. I told him I wanted to cancel my $20 Wal-mart, $50 gas card FREE STUFF. HE SAID HE CAN NOT DO CANCEL !!
And I had to go through a recorded line to repeat my home address, my Visa card, and answer THREE YES to three ad. I repeatedly told him I wanted to cancel everything, he said it is too late to cancel. I hung up. He called me back 3 times, I saw the numbers are all internet phone number (invalid call back number!). Imagine if I go through their recorded line,....
I called my Visa company, they already charged my card.

This is the first time I have received a text scam! I am LMAO! But I put my cell# on the Do Not Call registry years ago along with my home phone, so I will simply follow the steps provided by them to report these folks - that way they will be less likely to keep my # in their random pool.
It's just more of today's crap - no sense gettin all wound up, just ignore them!
IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE... ;)

This is obviously a scam. There is no intuition required, just common sense and a little, very little intelligence.
Common sense. Thnx 4 visiting our site???? I'm sorry, which site did I visit, and why don't you want me to know which site?? shouldn't read more like 'thanks for visiting webescammers(dot)com......' I mean honestly, it's like getting snail mail from a company that doesn't use official letter head.
Little, very little intelligence. Well did you visit a web site that asked you to provide your phone number?? I know I didn't.
I am not even so inclined to reply with STOP to the text I received, why do I want them to know my number is valid? This is a fishing scam, nibbling at the bait, whether to collect your "prize" or to tell them to stop lets them know there is a fish there. Sorry, no fish here.

My Wife got a text from 415 373 8156, telling her to call this number for a "free" Walmart Gift card. I attempted to call the number, they wanted my bank account information.
The man introduced himself as "Caller's Choice". That's not a human's name its a company name. The person barely had a grip on the English language. The accent was heavy and hard to understand, it was a Indian accent.
He proceeded to ask me for my SSN, Bank Info and other various personal data. I hung up. The scam is obvious.

They kept saying they were part of a company in Pheonix Arizona called "Everyday Shoppers" and would provide me with a name of the person (my case, Lisa that obviously had a heavy indian accent) and her ID number which means nothing.
She kept asking why I didn't want to do it when I just bluntly said i think this is a scam and I don't trust it. She started getting irritated. :)
And I asked how they got my number. Apparently they change their numbers up.
DO NOT USE THIS. Probably a scam, like 100000% sure :D
Either way, my privacy is worth way more than $70 potentially. :P
They said they would only charge $2 and that they would get a verbal recording of my approving it. Blah. Bad people, and apparently outsourced :P
The number they texted me from was 415-373-8156.
And they refused to get a prepaid card too. =P
OH! Also I could not call back she said it was a one time offer. Funny huh?
Text read as follows:
"Thx 4 Visiting Our Site Call 877-220-2710 To Claim Your $20 Wal-Mart Card Plus $50 Gas Card! Reply STOP 2Unsub"

I just received a text thanking me for visiting their site and that I will recieve a walmart gift card and gas card. When I called the lady right away said "are you calling regarding your walmart card and gas card?" I said yes. Right away she said "what is your first and last name so I can get it on the card right." I said what company is this? She mumbled something and hung up! Right away I new my intuition was correct. It is a SCAM! Be careful. Do not give any of your information out!

This message is a scam to get you to pay a handling fee for a unsolicitated prize. Youmost likely will be charge the handling fee and receive a blank card if anything.
