This company called here today to say that they were a company called EOS SCM and that they were acting on behalf of the Ontario Government.  Now the thing is,  the message first said on behalf of the MINISTRY OF FINANCE then the person said the ON Gov.  When I asked for address and location of co. got an attitude from the woman.....then I said the ON Gov. know exactly where we are and could contact us directly.....we file our taxes every year, they have my phone # and my address is on the tax return.  Don't owe the Ontario Government a red roarin cent!  and since when does is the Ministry of Finance hiring collection agencies....that would entail us giving our SIN # out to these companies and THAT my friends is NOT allowed!!!!!

They call me 5-6 times a week and leave voicemail without saying what business they are.  If they are a collection agency, I am not sure why the are calling me since I do not have outstanding loans.....I wish they would stop calling me.  Note that the caller ID on my phone is not the phone number they leave me on the voicemail.

I have been called 3 or 4 times from 1-877-221-2285 but have never been home when they called. They wont leave a message as to who they are trying to reach or who they are or who they represent.  It sounds like the same person that calls each time and they sound really angry or pissed off.  They do tell me to call back with a reference number that is like 12 numbers long.  Other than being rude and not divulging any information as to what this is all about, this person speaks so fast that I had to play my answering machine message back 14 times to understand all the digits and even then she gave 2 different numbers and too many digits in certain places.
I have never had a student loan and I dont owe any money to anyone.  A debt collection agency called several months ago but when I called them back they were looking for someone with a different name.
Who do I report these people to?
They need to learn some manners...................or get a real job!!

Same Ontario government nonsense. If it was legitimate, the government would have sent notices by post, not the telephone. I have moved from a former city where I received these calls for about five years. I have been here five years and am still receiving them. I assume, as I did call and give my address, they simply used that to further harass me, continuing to demand to speak to a person who has never lived at my address.  All I know is, this is not a legitimate caller. Ignore the calls.

Funny if it is a student loan collections calling me, cause I had not one dollar of support from the government. Payed for the whole thing myself, only enough money to get first term text books AND still managed to graduate without repeating anything. I sacrificed so much, worked so hard and it was extremely stressful as one could imagine. Now to have a company "collecting" on a loan that never existed really pisses me off!!! I don't answer numbers I don't know. I would NEVER give my SIN (so they are dilusional in thinking that) and I'm not returning any of their calls, it is obviously a scam. Also; if it was Revenue Canada, they would state that, NOT Government of Ontario.

I continued to recieve calls from these idiots, saying I owed a debt to PC financial.  I have never had a pc financial account or anything else through PC.  I have had a CIBC account for years (which owns PC financial).  They claimed that I owed PC pver 1500$ and they were never able to find me for the last 4 years.  But, how could they not find me if I have a CIBC account for years, again, the company that owns PC financial.  Anyways, continued to tell them this information, to the ends of getting my bank a ccount frozen and then them taking every cent from my babybonus cheque......yes, my babybonus cheque.  I'm a single student mom with two toddlers and they took $959 from my account on the 20th, leaving ghaccount was frozen and funds were still in there) that they would consider the amount paid and I wouldn't hyave to pay the rest.  I told them I couldnt do that, so they proceeded to tell me I was being unreasonable and that I must make more then that on y work cheque, so now all bets are off and they will take everything.  They would not believe me that I was on welfare and recieving babybonus.....they continues to tell me I was working and must be making at least 2000$ every to weeks and that the amount they were taking would not hurt us.is

The Government Provincial or Federal does not sell debt. The Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU)  use third party collection agency's to collect the debts. The agency's administrate on the accounts.  These practices are clearly out lined in all OSAP loan documents.
The process goes like this:
You do not pay the NSLC- the government's pay back OSAP on your behalf so that the next group of students applying can receive their funding.
Your file is now 2 loans.
MTCU- keeps your provincial loan in house for 90 days- if you do not clear the debt- or make the minimum monthly payment in that time frame the file is assigned to an agency.
Once with the agency you have 30 days to clear the account by paying in full or a settlement as the file is a demand debt.
An investigation is started- do you own property, have existing credit, etc; this is to determine if you can pay.
After you have exhausted all efforts to get the funds to clear and we can show that you do not have the funds available on any existing credit we discuss a temporary payment plan (as file still remains a demand debt due in full).
On the 31st day your loan listed as an UNPAID debt in the public record of your credit bureau. (As all of you are so smart and educated you can investigate what a government UNPAID debt is compared to ROGERS)
If in your debt goes 90 days with the agency and there is not payment plan in place, the MTCU will place a lien against any income tax that you are entitled to.
To have the tax lien removed you need to meet the minimum monthly payment.

I have read this blog and what a lot of you talk about is what a scam collection agency's are, and how they are unfeeling.  I think that no one takes a student loan and then refused to pay. I think that life happens, I think that they have a job to do and they are doing it, by giving us the information that we need so that we know how we are being effected. Next time the phone rings and it is them-(and they are looking for you) talked to them you might learn something new.

If they call and it is the wrong number tell them that. Don't yell at them and swear- just tell them it is a wrong number and ask for it to be removed.

Political Call
We have received scores of calls from this number, often once and sometimes twice daily.  Even if we pick up a line, we just get a recorded message saying that it is EOS-NCN (I'm not sure I've got the letters right) calling with an important message about the Ontario government and to call back right away.  We have never called back but we are sick and tired of receiving these calls.  We feel harrassed by them.  We do not intend ever to call the number, but we would like to know what to do to get them to stop calling us.  Would the police help?

These people have been calling me for the last 10 years and looking for a Ben Pettigrew.  I did call them a number of years ago and told them to stop calling me!  They don't listen, when you tell them they have the wrong number they continuously keep calling.

This is harrassment and I am saving all of the calls.  Here is a trick for you people with a digital camera that has movie capability.  Put your camera on movie and record the phone call as if you are shooting a movie, then download to your computer.  The digital recording will be saved to you computer with a digital printout of the phone message.

I have no intentions of phoning these people back!  The reference number given is 11412418

These guys have been calling me for a couple of months, I typically just don't answer.  The message says to call as it is urgent & something about the Ontario government.  I've only had this phone number for a year, so they are looking for the previous "owner" of this number if it's about Ontario student loans as I never had any!  Maybe one of these days I will call them back.

I recently got a new cell number and then received a voice mail claiming to be from an organization called EOS NCN, urging me to call 877-221-2285.

So I called from a completely different phone, on the weekend, and selected 1 for English, and got a voice mail greeting that indicated it belonged to a woman, whose name I will not post here.

I simply left this message:

" I will not tell you my name, or where I am calling from, but I will tell you that I have reported this call to the RCMP, and consider the call harassment.

Because I am not giving you details and am not calling from the phone that you called, you will not be able to stop calling me, but if you need further information, please contact your local detachment of the RCMP and ask them for more detail, including the investigating officer. "

Any time I have free time and find myself near a public pay phone, I think I will kill some time by harassing these people in the same way.  It probably won't change their behavior, but will be so much fun :-).

You do not have to put up with these people and thier ignorance. You have rights people, learn what they are and learn the laws.. We have all had hard times at one point or another - this does not entitle these people to harass you, this is illegal and they can face criminal charges. Take notes every time they call you, always ask for first and last name and record content of the conversation. If you are able - record all conversations over the phone, you can buy a piece that connects to your receiver and to the head phone plug on your stereo, just hit record before you answer the phone, say the date and time of call then answer...You may need to use one of the old portable stereos with a tape deck in it, however remember - you must inform them that your call is being recorded. You should also request in writing via fax or reg. mail that all correspondence be made in writing and inform them you will no longer accept any calls from thier office. In your letter be sure to include your complaints and how your rights are being violated....Make sure you can prove the letter was received. If you need a statement, request it in writing - again with proof of delivery and inform them that you will place all payments on hold until your requested document has been received.. Always keep a paper log of communication with these people... If you need help email me at rclsolutions@hotmail.com---------- Good Luck--------- I eat people like these up for dinner!

I keep getting calls from them at my store.  This is a business number and they keep calling for someone with a student loan.  Won't tell me who or when.  Can't be an employee because I don't have one and I don't have a student loan and never have.  I don't even bother answering anymore, they won't listen anyway.  I just pick up the handset and put it back in the cradle again, if nothing else it stops the phone from ringing for a while.  If they really want to get in touch with someone, they can send a registered letter.

Ok, I'm done.

A few years ago I had rude, threatening and harassing calls from this company. They would ask for C. XXX. The family name was correct but I knew I did not owe anything and figured they were just fishing around looking for this person. They did not even know if the person was a man or a woman! I finally got the hang of dealing with them. I would ask: So who do you want to talk to? Charles, Cynthia, Carol, etc... Mr, Mrs or Miss? It drove them crazy and they would start swearing and finally slam down the receiver with a bang. Getting them mad made me laugh. Another way I suggested to a friend who was being harassed was to play the secretary: May I ask who is calling please? Would you be so kind as to give me a message for XXX. and so on, Kill them with kindness, I say. They are not allowed to talk to anybody except the person.

yeah i get these calls from various numbers. i do owe on my student loans but revenue is taking my tax returns to pay them. the way i see they are getting thier money (gov't) so i dont deal with anyone else. I always do it that way. tickes the collection agencies off. see agencies buy your debt off the original company at a discounted rate (10%) of what you actually owe, then they hassle you for the full amount. it's how they make thier money. unless you need to clear your credit record immediately (buying a house but only if your mortgage agent says its required) don't pay em. i don't cause they arent who i ran the debt with. i pay the ones i run the debt with only. i did talk to these guys once years ago and they wanted me to tell em all sorts of info about my money situation and i said that all they needed to know is that i'm a stay-at-home mom with no income so i cant pay. they didnt like that so much and wanted to arrange even $10/mth payments and i said sure, but i don't send you anything til i see that agreement in writing (according to the law if asked they gotta provide) he says they dont do that and i said good luck getting money from me then. ;) also gave him whatfor in regards to all the calls and let him know i knew my rights. calls stopped for about 3 years. they just started again. maybe i'll answer one of these days. its kinda fun giving them a hassle. good luck to you all. dont pay unless they are the ones you actually ran the debt with. cause you WILL overpay.

Robo call from "FSCN" (least that's what I can decipher from the call) asking for Andrea Brendan (sp?). Believe they are a student loans collection company.

I AM NOT ANDREA. I DO NOT KNOW ANDREA. I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF OR CONTACT WITH ANDREA.

This company has called every other night for one solid month. I am on the National DO NOT CALL registry, yet they keep calling me. What kind of incompetent investigation/research do they conduct which gives them incorrect contact information!

I am registering a complaint with the Ontario Ombudsperson!

Holy Crap! These morons keep on calling my house and asking for a Gregory Gittens, No one here by that name, name does not match ours, we don't know him, & no student loan here ever!  I have called them many times to remove my number from their data base, they said they would, but it happens all over again the next year...they have been calling my house for years!!  It started again 3 days ago. I get about 3-4 calls a day from them, it is maddening.  Does anyone know if Bell Canada do something about these people, or can the police do something.

These poeple keep on calling and leaving messages to call them back urgently.  The message is always for someone who doesn't even live at my house.  I have called them back many times to tell them this over the years and they still call and leave messages periodically.  Yes they have been calling my house for the same person who does not live at my address, And I have never heard of him ever in my life.  I had it out with one bi***, she was really nasty.  She tried to threaten me, sue me, for what???  They were calling the wrong person.  They were in the wrong, I told her to go ahead and sue me..  How the hell do we get them to stop...they are calling the wrong address.
