I joined this dating website and upgrade my membership. Keep asking me different credit card because the first one was not accepted. They gave me a phone number that is not  even working...1 877 226 3283. It was a scam I called my bank card right away to cancel it....

Hello, I just received my credit card and I see I am billed $34.95 from AVL DATE on 24/04/12. I do not recall subscribing to this, but since you have my card no, I must have.

I just checked my account and i was charged $59.95. I never heard of AVL before and never been on Date.com I know that some nasty site keep poping up and when you try to close it , it wont let you do it. Im very up set but i will be closing my account tomorrow.

This is a number for an online dating service. They may operate multiple accounts, the one I was using was CatholicSoulMates.com (catchy huh?). If you subscribed to this service or any service proctored by Avalanche LLC then you will receive a bill for the subscription. I am cancelling my contract as I've since found better dating services so we will see if that stops the billings. Note that when you sign up for these services there is a disclaimer saying that it is an ongoing contract until terminated by the user. Some of the contracts even state that you have to terminate in writing. So if you are still receiving billings it's possible that you were previously a member but didn't follow through on the termination requirements. Or, it may just be an improper billing. Or someone might be using your credit card to purchase these services, so you will want to check for any other odd billings on your card (got any teenage boys in the house? That might provide a clue :) In any case I haven't seen anything (yet) to indicate that it's a scam. Hope this helps someone out there.

Can you believe the nerve of these people? I had a charge to my Savings account from AVL*Date and the lady at the bank said the charge was not from a card, but the actual account number! I never use that account, and when I got a letter stating that my account had been overdrawn for 20 day, I was instantly angry! So, now my bank is going after the company and gave me all my money back.  I have never heard of AVL*Date and have never gave out my savings account number.

I HAVE JUST BEEN HARGED $141 FOR THIS SERVICE AND I DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS IS OR HOW IT GOT STARTED. I AM GOING TO CALL MY CREDIT CARD CO PANY AND STOP IT RIGHT AWAY, HOW DOES ONE GET ONES MONEY BACK? OR IS THAT A SILLY QUESTION???????????

i have found unauthorised payments going out of my bank account and have been told by my bank that the only way to stop these payments is contact the company myself. This has been an impossible task.

I can't remember that i was called with this number.
But on my account I saw that an amount of 99,95 euro was charged, very strange.

I just checked with my bank and they debited my checking account this month for $29.95- I called the number listed- they are to be sending a check to my bank for the $29.95 within 5 days. Thankfully I check my bank account frequently and found this otherwise they could have taken me for several months.Could not get information how they got my checking information. Time will tell

I got charged today 59.95 today and have no idea who this company is.  What has your bank done to help you get your money back?  I am going tomorrow.

I was charged on my mastercard an amount of 24,95 euro but had never authorize any charges and have never heard of this AVl DATE.
I will call Mastercard to get this money back.

I was today charged 49.95 on my danish creditcard from AVL*DATE registred with number 877-226-3283 - which I've never heard about. I took a look on the internet and found this page. My bank told me that the danish police probably will do nothing in this case, but what about the US police? - Where to report this? - And why are the police not doing anything?

Thank you to everyone who posted about this fraudulent account -- I wouldn't have been able to nip this in the bud so quickly if you hadn't posted.

My CC account was also fraudulently charged, and when I called my bank, they took off two months worth of their charges, and directed me to cancel my current credit card, and get a new one with a new number. My CC company took full responsibility, and "said" (anyway) that they would be looking into the fraudulence of the company.

I HAVE CC ALERT ON MY PHONE AND THE ALARM WENT OFF ON MY PHONE THAT SOMEONE USED MY CC ON FEB 6TH...IT WAS A SNOW DAY AND I WAS HOME NOT ON THE COMPUTER. I NEVER BOUGHT ANYTHING AND IT CHARGED OVER 65.OO ON MY CARD. THEN CHARGED 5.99 ALSO. HOW DO I GET IT BACK? I TRIED TO CALL THE NUMBER 1-877-226-3283 AND IT SAID THE VOICE MAIL IS FULL PLEASE TRY LATER....NOW WHAT?

you are right this is their 2nd mistake we will see what the secret service does with them, credit card fraud falls under their jurisdiction

Debit card charge on my account.  Will call the bank 1st thing Monday morning.

Well unfortunately they have my debit card infomation and there are no blocks which can be placed unless you simply close the account.  I have tons of things attached to this account which would create an extreme hardship to cancel.

I am not a happy camper.

I have the same exact story.  I am horrible about checking statements and basically just go with the balance indicated.  I never reconcile my account.  I just noticed that this MMR*MATCHMAKER crap has been being debited for the past 9 months.  I am not happy at this point!!!  I will be contacting my bank as well as the BBB and this scam initiater.

I was chraged $119.95 by someone. The only thing I can think of is that I bought music sheets on line via musicnotes.com. I will never do that again! I have been getting inappropriate posting on my Facebook, too! What a hassle!

How does anyone get hold of your credit card number unless someone is the employee of the musicnote.com?

I cancelled the card immediately, now I don't have a credit card for 10 days while I travel.

Also got charged with this scam. It is now in the hands of the Federal Authorities. Not a good idea to scam a law enforcement official.
