They call ALL the time, day and night, it doesn't matter how early or late. They even call on Saturdays and Sundays. I hang up on them and they still do not get the message and when I don't answer the phone my phone rings and rings, sometimes up to 20 rings. My telephone number is unlisted. How do they get your number? My telephone number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry and I still get calls. I donated money through the mail to Children's Cancer and Veterans fund once and my nightmare began. Telemarketer Companies should be legally banned.

As a commercial fundraiser, ACS is expected to honor an internal no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and ''the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.'' They are also covered to a point by other regulations for telepests, so you can complain to the FTC about abandoned calls, bot calls to mobile phones, and so on.
Like all non-sales calls, these are exempt from federal and state no-call registries, even though the call centers executing the recurring campaigns are very much for-profit and pocket most of what is collected. At times the ''charity'' client is itself a closet profit enterprise, compounding the deception. This has been exactly the unholy business model attributed to ACS and its many sound-alike bogus charity clients.
Because the amounts collected are rather small, these call centers are quite motivated to repeatedly hassle you. The worst of the industry will "reload" a donor multiple times a year, preferring forgetful and easily confused victims. Most if not all such phone farms assume that your no-call order, when given verbally or by keypress, conveniently expires when a client's campaign ends.
In comments from November 2012 and June 2013 linked below, I've discussed simple steps I took to rid myself of a major pain fundraising boiler room by politely rubbing its face in federal laws. You will note that I never rely on verbal cease-communication demands.

Nice softsoaping from a huge charity fraud shop which would file for "restructuring" bankruptcy seven months later.
Large telemarketer for charities declares bankruptcy [excerpts]
http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/large-t ... kruptcy/2170266
"Founded in 1999, the telemarketer keeps as much as 85 percent of every dollar donated by the public. It solicits for dozens of charities, including nine of the 50 worst named in the Times'/CIR series. .....
The telemarketer has been repeatedly disciplined by state regulators for misleading donors in its fundraising calls. Last year it was banned from soliciting in Iowa; last month it was fined $45,000 by Michigan's attorney general for deceiving senior citizens. The company denied any wrongdoing.
......
The company also owes more than $15 million in unpaid taxes to the IRS and more than $1 million in unpaid state tax."

Brian and Rita:
Your callers do not maintain this site or this web page. Your callers cannot magically determine which numbers should not be called based on anonymous comments. You cannot expect compliance with your orders until you deliver them *directly* to your caller, a commercial fundraiser which has been named several times already.

Can you please not set a bad example to other users for years to come?
It is unwise to publish a phone number you meant to protect in an open forum where any data harvester and scammer can find it. I've reported this comment so that Admin can redact it.

They called me asking did I receive my pledge card. I said no. But I never donated $40.00 as the recorder claimed I donated. I'm confused and don't have time for this foolery.

I've begun using the call blocking feature on my phone. I get one ring and no more. Wish I could stop them altogether.

Hard to keep nonprofit agencies from calling. Believe they are exempt from the no-call list
francis 2013-03-27 03:25:18 Unknown
this number and other 1866 numbers kept calling. I don't answer them, don't know who they are.
They need to stop calling and ask for money saying is donations, or collection agency, or some other kinds of services...

I too have been called by this number. Suggestion, have your Phone service provider Block this number
Kattee 2013-02-28 20:15:24 Debt Collector
They call when you pledge money and don't pay to american cancer society. Like a debt collection agency, I don't donate to ANYONE over the phone anymore now that they have mafia after me.

These people have been calling me from 8am to 8pm from this (and several other numbers) on a daily basis. I have never actually done any kind of business with them and have no idea how they got my number or why they persist in calling. It's been several months now, and they have called every single day. I have threatened, begged, and pleaded with them to stop. It does no good. Most are robo-calls but the few times I actually get to speak to someone, they claim to be ACS. I have explained to them that I work night shifts and sleep during the day and their calls constantly wake me up. Unfortunately, as a medical professional, I need to be within telephone reach at all times, so I can not simply turn off my phone. I have reported this number to every agency known to man. I researched them via the Internet and found out they are a quasi-legal organization called Associated Community Services which keeps keeps the lion?s share of virtually every donation it collects. I read that "at least four attorneys general across the country and one Secretary of State, have gone after the company for a whole slew of alleged violations, including engaging in manipulative, high-pressure fundraising tactics, and deceiving its donors." Obviously, my only recourse seems to be to change my phone number. How sad that nothing can be done to stop these scamsters.

they keep calling at all hours of the day, day in and day out. Don't know who they are because I don't pick up the phone.
Rex 2013-01-24 14:59:56 Telemarketer
Calling every day....early to late....wouldn't give anyone over the phone...but they don't take NO for an answer.
What a way to earn a 'living'! Some kind of cancer fund....don't believe them.
JJH 2012-12-13 17:07:33 Non-profit Organization
They call repeatedly, 2 or 3 times a day. I gave to them once for a veteran's fund, only to find out that the veteran's get only about 6% of the donations. They are professional fund raisers, getting most of the money for themselves. I will never give to them, again.
Jo 2012-11-20 00:23:51 Unknown
They called saying they were some breast cancer charity and said I made a pledge over the phone but have not sent in any money yet. I told them there must be a mistake because I didn't recall making any pledge and as a rule, never commit to anything over the phone. Then she got rather nasty with me so I hung up.

These people call several times a day, everyday they said they are from a Children Cancer fundraiser group and asked if i would donate money, first of all they hit me in a weak spot, if on the level i would have donated.
Then i thought about it, no one from this group has ever called me before and they call every day seven days a week, several times a day, and when i do not answer they leave no message and "I am on the no call list", State and national yet they keep calling and they called the first time which should not have happened, lastly i have a non-listed number in which i pay for each month. Wrong, wrong, wrong. and illlegal to boot!
wright 2012-05-31 14:50:03 Unknown
We keep getting calls from this number even though we're listed on the National Do Not Call Registry. They call but never leave messages.
tootzie061 2012-04-26 08:50:07 Telemarketer
This repeat caller is from Associated Community Services. I called back and got the recording informing me they are calling on behalf of several non-profit organizations. I can only assume I now have a collection agency of sorts calling me since I never re-issued the $10 donation I made to the Breast Cancer Fund that was lost in the mail. If this is the case....they (Breast Cancer Fund) will NEVER receive another donation and will receive a call from me informing them to stop or I will file a complaint against them with the Feds. Absolute bull and I do not have to deal with this crap.
