THIS REVIEW SOUNDS LIKE A COMMERCIAL FOR THE PARTNERS AMERICA AND WAS PROBABLY WRITTEN BY ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES. BE CAREFULL WHAT YOU BELIEVE.

Today I received a call from Ron Priest, a smooth talking guy who never lets on the exact reason for wanting to meet you but he claims he is from a non profit government organization that is working with (name your state) to help small businesses.
This man and all of his associates use lies and subterfuge to get into your business claiming they are going to do a no cost business review after which they will come up with a report on the needs of your business.
They use the titles "America or US conference of Mayors or some other legitimate sounding but unresearchable group.
They are actually salesmen from "American Management Services".
Their research WILL find flaws in your organization which they say they can fix if only you sign up for their "For Profit" services. the cost is probably huge and the services probably marginal.

Best bet..Warn the receptionist and ...if they get through don't take the call.

I heard from Nick Kohler today too. He was very soothing and convincing. I gave them a lot of information before realizing it was a scam. Now I am worried...I don't even know how to cancel the appointment I made becuase there is no answer at the 877 number. I wrote to alert the Chamber of Commerce, The Better Business Bureau and also to the local news "Call for Action" team. Has anyone had any further interactions beyond the phone call? What's their angle? What should I be on the look-out for now that I have shared our comapnies information? HELP!! I have never fallen victim to a scam before. I am beside myself.

After answering the caller said, "Would you tell "Bob" that Ron Priest is on the line holding for him.  I could hear the call center noise in the back ground.  I asked, "Bob who?" and was given the name of pre previous owner of this company.  I said, "We do not have anyone by that name."  The caller said, "Oh, has he retired?" and hung up!  I found this website after doing a google...then I found the 1-877 number, so I called it and some chick answered and I pressed the number 9 in her ear until she hung up!

My boss had me look up this number, because a guy named Joe Frangul called saying he was the director of Economic Growth and Developemnt for the state.  I against my wishes put him through thinking he was important.   Like all calls my boss asks for the person name and number upfront incase the line gets disconnected.  Needless to say the guy was very professional, the program even sounded good and offered hope for a company that is in a "bad rutt" like ours.  however he hung up in the middle of the conversation and noone ever called back.  This was after asking a bunch of personal questions about the company like employees and how much sales etc.  Doing a look really proved to be valuable because obviously it was a scam.

I just received a similar vague call from Bob Fryer asking to set up an appointment.  Odd call.  Bob claimed to be working from notes from previous contact with our company, but really knows nothing about us.  He's in upstate NY.  He said his boss is Susan Cronan.

Nick Kohler called from this number for our CEO, whom he got the name totally wrong.  He was rude when I said the CEO was not available.  He said he was with the Mayor's Economic Stimulus Recovery Board... No such entity in the state of Oklahoam. Totally bogus!

Bob Fryer ... made sure he spelled the name for me three times ... called from 877-231-7028.  He said he was with the US Conference of Mayor's Office and wanted to speak to Mr. CS.  I have been here long enough to know who regularly calls and why they call. Never heard of this gentleman or his organization.  Requested he e-mail the information or fax the inforamtion to us.  He had nothing to send.  He insisted on a cell number or voice mail.  I told him that I was his assistant so I was the voice maail and by policy I do not give out cell numbers.  He said we could call back, but he traveled and would not be in the office.  Basically...waste of my time! Don't people know to get past a good assistant you have to do better than this?!?!  Also, thsi is 2009...we google when thinks do not appear quite right!

Erica Vallejo called today for our CEO.  She said that this information could only be shared with him and that a representative for the State of IL would be in town tomorrow and the only appointment they had available was 10:30 tomorrow.  I asked to email her back a response on my CEO's ability to make a "very important" meeting and she said she never checks email and I should just call her back and they would patch me through to her cell if it was after hours.

She gets calls on the cell...but just check email.  Then I found this site.  Excellent resource!

Ron Priest called our company today and asked to speak with Mr. S.T. and I said he was already gone for the day. Then he asked to speak to his partner Mr. R.T. (somehow he had the names right) and explained that he is the Director of Economic Development for the State of Florida and that he was returning my boss's call. After 13 years as Executive Secretary here, I am an expert at telling who the legitimate callers are and who are unsolicited callers, salesmen and telemarketers, so I "grilled him" with questions about the nature of the call. He first got huffy and then he got condescending with me (no dear, sure sweetheart), which is the kiss of death for anyone who I'm not familiar with and who tries to get to my boss without giving me details. Once I got him to give me his call-back number, I went online to check it. Well, 1-877-231-7028 seems to have a long history on this website. Thanks for the info.

A guy named "Mo" called and told our receptionist that I was expecting his call. When I answered he said that he was "with the Sate of Virginia, business development". I asked for his number and he gave me 877-231-7028. I asked him why it was a toll free number when I am located in the state capital, he said that he wasn't with the State of Viginia. When I questioned him why he said he was with the state at the beginning of the call, he said he was "affiliated with the state". By this time, I realized he was a fake and hung up.

These people called, was very polite and forth coming with answers to my typical questions ie, who are you, what company you are with.  Travis H. said he helped to direct the program.  I let him speak with my boss, and they set up and appointment.  To make a long story short, they were who the said they were, and the services being offered turn out to be a blessing in disguise.  Here it is 2 years later and we still benefit from the program, and services that was offered.  Thank You U.S.C.O.M. and A.M.S.  you were truly God Sent!!!!!!!  2 years ago, I feared my job being cut due to the failures of the company...........now I'm enjoying steady raises, and the pleasant security of working for a profitable company...................truly amazing!!!!!!

Marty Forgaurd call and asked for my boss.  She said she had cancelled an appointment with him and would like to reschedule.  She was also very vague.  Claimed that she was not calling on behalf of a company.  But the call didn't sound like it was personal.

Marty Forman called and advised that he needed to speak with Mr.(mispronounced my bosses name).  He told me he was the Managing Director of Economic Initiatives for the State of Virginia.  When I asked the name of the State Agency he was with, he said, "I am not employed by the State dear, this is the federal government".  He was too vague and nonchalant so I checked online and found he appears to be a telemarketer with a survey to sell.
