I have received a few calls from this number over the past week.  Mr. Andrew Metcalf calling about an urgent matter that needs my immediate attention (or something to that effect).  He does not say what he's calling about or where he's calling from.

I see from another respondent above that Mr. Metcalf apparently works as a collection agent for Capital One.  Since I have no past due account with Capital One or otherwise, maybe he's tracking a deadbeat realtive of mine as well.

A few messages have been left on my home phone this week: 'I'm calling from the office of Mr. O'Donohue. There is an important matter possibly involving someone at this number. We're available to speak with you today. Please return the call to 1-877-234-1835.'.  If you're not entirely sure, then don't call!!!

We continually get voice mail left that says "Mr. Metcaff needs to speak to you at (877)234-1835, it is urgent and we don't want this matter to escalate."

Whats fun about this phishing scam is they never, ever say who the message is for, or what company they "represent".

If its so urgent, perhaps they should say who they want to speak with.     Since it's computer generated, if you pick up, there is no message left, if you don't then the computer program is designed to leave a message.  The scam only works if you call back, identify yourself, and provide them any information.

Boy I wish that the TV show 48 hours or 20/20 would do an investigative show on this scam artist.   It would be great to see a handcuffed Mr. Metcaff on the way to federal court or prison.

I've gotten 3-5 messages from this number this week. I Googled the number and found this site.

About 6 months ago "Mr. Metcalf" left several threatening messages on my home machine and said I had to call this number regarding "an urgent matter of a personal nature" or something like that. I'm never home during the day so my OGM includes my mobile number "in case the call is urgent" but obviously they don't listen to that because they never called my mobile.

So I called the number pretending to be a confused and scared old lady and asked how he got my number. I kept repeating things like "I don't want to be in trouble, am I in trouble? Am I gonna get somebody in trouble? My son and his wife handles my money, is they gonna get in trouble?"

After much hemming and hawing, "Mr. Metcalf" confessed he's from a collection agency, that my number is listed as an alternate contact for a Capital One credit card account that has an outstanding balance and he could never reach the primary account holder at the number they have on file.  I asked who it was they couldn't reach but he wouldn't say. After more stalling and me sounding like I was on the verge of tears he gave me a number that turned out to be of a relative of mine.

I called the relative and found out that they did have a CapOne card with an outstanding balance and that they've been ignoring their calls.

Hope this info is helpful.

These guys were calling me about an account that was real old.
You can't expect me to pay for something from 5 years ago!!!
I tried talking to them but they didn't seem to get it.
I googled their company name "Global Credit" and found their website.
I sent a request to stop bugging me.  A manager called me back a couple days
later and told me they were closing my account.

Receiving spam calls from this number (877-234-1835) requesting I call extensions 6664 or 8731 and ask for Armond.  Regarding my Capital One credit card which has not been in use or had a balance in several years.  This scam needs addressed.

I called back the number and pretended to be some super confused old lady. The guy that called me Solomon, felt oober bad & told me he's a third party collected for Capitol One. I then told him the truth. I was a 15 year old pissed off. I promptly & politely told him to f*** off & die in a hole & then registered with the National Do Not Call List @ 1-888-382-1222 or online @ www.donotcall.gov & registered all phones including my house & parents. This f****n scammers think their the s*** & can get a way with stuff like this?! Well guess what? They f****d with the wrong teenager. Total douches out bi****s.

I have been receiving these calls on and off for almost 6 months.  I get someone on the phone and same story we will take your number out of the system that lasts for all of about....maybe 3 weeks and the calls start again.  Half the time when you call the 877-234-1835 number back it rings and then disconnects.  My thing is if this is such an urgent matter as he states why don't they know who they are calling for?!?!?!?!  Don't give any information to these people!!!!!!!

Prank Call
I am surprised that these people are still in business bugging innocent people and harassing. I don't even have anything from capitalone or owe anything as loan or mortgage to any financial institution . These people won't tell me why they are calling several times a day except leaving voice message asking me to call them with no details, other than saying "important message they  to give me", yeah right. They knew I blocked their a** on my phone now they are also using another partial number starting 905 as caller ID to fool phones that block by caller ID. I don't know how they sleep every-night pissing people off all day long. Here is a sample vague message they leave on my voicemail....

"Hi this is Chris. I'm calling in regards to a very important business matter of yours. That is in our office and collecting to contact us to try and resolve this is not benefiting you. We have available options to help you in resolving this matter. You can. Contact me at 1-877-234-1835 at ext. 6379. I'll be in the office until 8:30:00PM Eastern standard Time

This company is NOT related to Capital One, it is a SCAM.

If you did give them personal information, you should report it to the Federal Trade Commission ASAP.

Typically these folks are trying to reach someone who has bad debt, and it most likely is not you. However, you may live nearby, or even be related to the person they are trying to reach. They will try to solicit your help in reaching the realperson they are after.Best advice is to ignore the call, or simply confirm with them that you are not the person they are looking for.

Got a message from some woman named Dina, she claimed she spoke with her supervisor about ways to solve my apparent business problem.  Called from a location near me, but told me to call this number.  Of course I didn't, but I was curious and looked it up online.  I have one whole bank account that I opened just months ago in a bank completely unrelated to Capitol One.  Why are they even trying me?  Not going to bother wasting my minutes to talk to scum like them.

We have been getting calls from Mr. O'Donahue's office.  Here is the deal.  We now live in a house that used to be one of our rentals.  We continue to get calls from previous tenants with bad credit.  They are not calling us personally but the number attached to this address, so to speak.  Also over 12 years ago we got a new phone number and it came attached with a person with bad credit so we have been getting calls for years for this person.  I spoke to the Washington State Attorney's General and he personally told me that my best recourse was to change my number.  This wouldn't work if they keep looking up the property.  Also, the poor schmuck who got our number next wouldn't know what hit them.  I just thank goodness for caller ID.  Also some of those sneaky collection b*****ds are showing up with the word telemarketing on the caller ID.  With computer dialing they have no incentive to stop making the calls after several months of no answers because it doesn't take man hours to do it.

I also received a call from this company with a message left about a business matter. After I googled the number and saw the posts referring to Capital One I returned the call as we had just opened a Capital One business card. As it turned out, they were trying to reach someone who recently had a card opened and gave our business name and phone number as their place of employment. (a previous employee).  They said they would remove this number in connection to the bad debt.

I got a call from 877 234 1835 from a MR Metcalf saying I needed to call them back today to settle this matter but never said what the matter pertains to. This Mr Metcalf called leaving his vague but "serious " sounding message that they needed to make arrangements by today. How these people want you to call them back if they dot not even address you by name? I blocked my number and called and they just stated they were from Global with no other ID whatsoever. I do have an account with CapitalOne that is two months behind but I already make arrangement to be current by the end of month. I do not understand why jerks like this are allowed to get your phone number and make this harrrasing calls with no punishement or repercussions whatsoever. Whay I need to do to have this guy stop calling my house with no valid reason to do it????

I also just got a call from an "Andrew Metcalf" from Global.  Who is Global?  I found out through the posts on this site, that it is a 3rd party collections agency for Capital One.  Sneeky  (:()  Can't they just leave an honest message and say who and why they are calling?  Maybe not.  I won't call them.

Got the same call everyone else has gotten.  He indicated that he had left a message yesterday, which he did not do, and that I had failed to respond to it.  He indicated that privacy laws prohibited him from providing any more information.  If I hear from him again, I will pass it on to the AG of my state.

The recorded message was already rolling when I picked up the front desk phone. Caller ID said they were calling from 702-410-6503, which yields no results on Google. The recorded male voice was saying that due to privacy act, they are not allowed to leave any info on the machine (which is funny because a real live omg person picked up the phone!) and to call them back at 877-234-1835. Bunch of bunk, if you ask me. Probably nothing to bother with. Just irritating when they call at work.
