Today I was looking at my checking account online and noticed a charge to my account for $9.70 that looked very suspicious. It said it was from HOMEBASE FTM. It had a phone # below it 877-238-8349. I searched the # online and found out that this has happened to many people and its a scam. When I called the # back I got a lady who said it was her private business #. She didn't seem to concerned that this # has been associated with many scams. I told her that the # has been reported the the Better Business Bureau. I let my bank know and they have agreed to refund me the money. If you get a charge like this immedialty let your bank or credit card company know and cancel the card. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD SCAM! Also lately I have been bombarded with calls from suspicious 800 #'s and when I call them back it says the mailbox is full. One of the #'s is 866-841-4741. After researching this # I found out that is happening to many many people. I think the phone calls and the charge on my account are related.

Yep, a $9.70 charge from HOMEBASE 877-238-8349 CA on 11/30/2007. I don't remember getting the call because I never answer unknown numbers. This is total BS. The Feds should be cracking down on this.

In terms of reporting it needs to be reported to the Federal Trade Commision at 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357) and if you ignore all the prompts and press 450 each time then you get routed directly to a person and you can file a complaint.  It can also be done online at FTC.gov.  I recommend calling, it's a bit easier and you get a case reference number.  I've already reported it but FTC can only take down info pertinent to YOUR experience (IE they don't accept that I offered that this is happening to many people or my offer to tell them all the alias names of the company) so the more reports the better (I assume).  Good Luck!

I got a fraudulent charge of $9.70 to my VISA checking account debit card from this company posted on 2/1/08.  I reported it to my bank and they had me complete an affidavit to remove the charge.  But, I had to cancel my check card which means changing my numbers with several places like Paypal, etc.  I also filed a report with the Illinois Attorney General's office.  Someone needs to stop these people!!

Dude if you think that's bad; I saw a news report the other day where banks and credit card companies want to ship there servers that keep all of your credit card and bank statment information overseas to India. The best thing to do is to be sure that the web-site that you are using you credit card on to make a payment or buy something; is to be sure that site's ULR reads https:// and not http:// the s means that that site is secure. as far as keystroke software; that can be tricked by typing some fake key strokes and using the back space a few times be for entering you real key strokes, that keeps those hacker fustrated and they will back off and move on to the next person.

I was charged $9.75 by "Homebase" - never heard of them.  Off my checking account card.  Will report them tomorrow and called the 1-877-238-8349 number and there was a recording.  Left a message.  We'll see about this scam.  This is the second one on my account in 2 months.  Some one has my card #.  Time to change things at the bank.  Why can't these bozos get a real job.

Here's the strange thing about my situation; I never received a call. I just happened to find this site in a search for a HOMEBASE charge. Are they going around randomly billing credit cards now? I'm issuing a chargeback with PNC.

Just got this charge this past weekend... called then and actually left a message on their machine.. thanks to this blog, I know now that they are a scam.  Who are the pople behind this.  I had to go to the Bank and get them to try and investigate this.  I think banks should have scams like these updated to them because they were clueless.

Go straight to your state's Attorney General's office website and file a complaint.  Print out messages from this forum plus a copy of the website at http://www.3wgifts.com/affiliate/contact_info.asp and provide the information to the Attorney General's office.  The AG has a lot more resources to investigate this kind of scam where the amount is too small for victims to pursue.

Don't waste time contacting the Better Business Bureau.  Go straight to your state's Attorney General office and file a complaint.  I just had the charge removed from my Wells Fargo business account and advised them of this website.  Thanks for reporting your experiences.

I recieved a charge of $9.75 on my Visa Check card on January 3rd from this Homebase business which I did not authorized.  Had to cancel my card and put in a dispute claim.  I guess these people don't expect you to go through the hassle of cancelling cards and disputing because the charge is so small.  I don't know if they are being investigated or not, but it is now January and they are still hitting people's accounts.  Called the number but was only able to leave a message which has not been returned.

Discovered the $9.75 charge from C A* Homebase on my Chase credit card with posting dated 12/31/07.  Called the number and got a voice mail that recorded messages, but no return call of course. They may be under investigation, but they're still in business.
