Yes you can make a Complaint to the FTC. However; the federal act that protects us is the following.   http://www.federalreserve.gov/boarddocs/supmanual/cch/fairdebt.pdf

Read the entire document. It is written in language that is understandable. If you try to read the actual act it is confusing. You are protected by the government. Record all calls if you can. Write down all calls time date and who you spoke too. If they leave recordings save them. If they call any other family members; you need to tell the family members to state they do not know your business and to please remove their phone number from their list. IBS also uses this phone number 877 452 9201. You have rights federally. The attorney generals office in each state has to follow the federal Act. It is best to complete the complaint form from the FTC.

You are welcome Monique!  It really hacks me off when these ppl think they can get away with this kind of crap!  My dad is 91 and he was TOTALLY freaked out and upset thinking I was going to jail.  Not to mention, my friends and family members that they contacted also.  I just feel that if ppl can inform someone of what is truly going on, then these type of scam artists will eventually be stopped.  Be aware though, probably in a few months, the calls will start back up, but they will be operating under a different company name.  That's just the way they are, but they will still use the same BS as before.  Just please make anyone they have contacted aware you ARE NOT in trouble, NO ONE will be coming to serve you, and keep the above letter so you can send it to next line of scam artists that come along trying to collect on something you probably don't owe anyways.  Be sure and file your complaint with the FTC also.  The main thing is ALWAYS do research before giving out ANY information.  I've learned the hard way.  Glad I was able to help!!!  Have a great day!

Update:  sent a cease and desist letter to the only information that the FTC could find.  Their email address is:  info@isdgroupllc.com

I have already gotten a response back stating:

Your account at International Systems Development has been set into a cease and desist status.  All phone numbers have been taken off file and you will no longer receive any calls

Got this response in a few hrs.  Here is a sample of what I sent:

Re: Claim number:

Dear Debt Collector:

Pursuant to my rights under federal debt collection laws, I am requesting that you cease and desist communication with me, as well as my family and friends, in relation to this and all other alleged debts you claim I owe.  This means DO NOT CONTACT me at work, on my cell or my family and friends home or cell numbers as well.

Consider this your ONLY OFFICIAL notification that if you do not comply with this request, I will have no option but to pursue other avenues.  I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and if the contact DOES NOT cease, then I will be left with no option but to contact the State of Texas Attorney General's office.  I will also retain a private attorney to pursue civil and criminal claims against your company due to the slander and defamation of character by your employees Jodi Barker and Gina Brown.

I was unable to locate a mailing address, but the Federal Trade Commission gave me this email address.  They stated this will suffice.  You have thirty (30) days from today to acknowledge receipt of this letter.

Sincerely,

Your name

I got a call from these people, Gina Brown and Jodi Barker to be exact.  Not only did I get a call, but so did my family and friends.  The message went something along the lines of This is a message for (my name).  I am trying to contact you in regards to a fax received on my desk in regards to hot checks that you have out.  The purpose of this phone call was to set up a time/place to meet at, but since I was unsuccessful in reaching you, I have no choice but to serve these papers to you at your place of business or residence.  You can contact me at 877-239-1206 and reference claim #138054.  You have been OFFICIALLY notified.  Naturally everyone started freaking out, but I did my research.  Since they continue to call, I filed a complaint with the FTC.  I spoke with a lady there that was very helpful.  There is no actual mailing address for these ppl, so I had a email address - info@isdgroupllc.com  Per the FTC I was to send a Cease and Desist letter to them and I was also informed to go to www.usa.gov and type in payday loan scams.  If you have ever applied for one, either online or in person, your info is out there.  It doesn't always mean you owe the money, but they want to freak you out.  Needless to say I haven't nor will I be served.  But they will be.

Just got a call from a Jodi Barker at this number threatening the same thing. I used to be a collector and according to the FDCPA, NO they can't just come to your home or place of business and they can't just call your relatives and tell them your business. I haven't called them back yet.

Change any information they might have, bank accounts, credit cards, phone numbers.  Warn people you know that they might call and it's a scam.  Put a fraud alert on your credit.  Report them to the police, your state's Attorney General, the FTC and http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx  If you have a TV station with a consumer reporter call them, too.  They need to warn people.  Too many are falling for it.

If you have to answer the phone, tell them you have reported them, they are under investigation for funding terrorists and you were told to record their calls.  Tell them to say hi to Seal Team 6 when they get there and good luck.

@ Kimberly,
I just had the same thing happen to me, and I am scared to death...I NEVER write checks and they are claiming that I did and they are going to deliver legal documents to me. They asked that I return their phone call to set up a "meeting place" and if I don't they are going to my place of employment or residence.

Anyone...what should I do??

I was contacted by Mr. Steven Cooper from ISD.  He left a threatening phone message that stated that I was being served with papers about a recent "bad check" I had passed and needed to contact him in order to arrange a meeting.  He said that since he was unable to contact me he would be serving me at my place of employment and that this message was notification.  It was quite alarming as I have not done any such thing.  My immediate impulse was that this was some sort of scam or case of mistaken identity.  I tried to contact them at the above number to see what info. I could find out with my case number 1315593, but there was no one to take my call at 4:30. I was immediately suspicious. I googled the firm and saw that other people had filed complaints over the last year and in a varying number of states, and that my hunch was right this indeed a scam.
They threaten people and attempt to coerce them to settle "out of court" for a reduced fee, which usually is several hundred dollars.  I am horrified that people would prey upon innocent hard-working people and am concerned that less savvy individuals would easily fall victim, such as the elderly or such.  I suggest reporting them to your local attorney general's office. I did!  Do NOT give anyone your credit or debit info. on the phone!  This is a SCAM!

Just so you know if you leave another message on this machine as rude as the one you just left for somebody who is not even employed at this business nor have I ever heard of this person. you will be notified by the Attorney General. You have picked the wrong business to leave rude messages on machines  with more information given that is allowed by law.

And You   ISD  have been warned!!!!

I have been getting phone calls at work of them asking to speak to my manager they have been calling my job 5x a day... They say that they are gonna serve me with court documents first they were saying that i am writing fraudulant checks, then they say that I owe a payday loan 300.00 dollars... I am getting complaints from my manager about these phone calls because they are never ending.. They asked me for my for me credit card information so they could post date a payment plan.. This is ridiculous.. And I do not know how to make them stop I am going to be contacting the police very soon regarding this issue.

I do NOT owe these people any money.  They said their company name is "DISD Group," but a Google search of that name turns up nothing.  They keep calling my cell phone number, which I have had since July 2006, looking for some woman I've never met.  When I tell them that, they are very rude and keep asking how to get a message to that other woman.  I HAVE NO &*%$# IDEA WHO THAT OTHER WOMAN IS.  Obviously this company is incredibly incompetent; they are using phone numbers that are outdated and have no idea who they're calling.  No wonder they can't find anybody.  Idiots.

Very rude. They started calling my family members that lived in another state claiming that they had information that I passed multiple bad checks and if I didn't contact them that day that I would be served with a court summons.
