I just received a call from a very rude Frank Douglas, who could not give me his number. He is a processor,etc. I asked for documents of proof and he said that he was giving me a fair opportunity to contact "STATEWIDE" law firm....before he serves me. He gave me this phone number to contact 877-239-5603. When I called, there was a message but no identification of business name, etc. then it rings once and hangs up. None of us have time for this nonsense!

PAY ATTENTION !!!

My brother called me on May 2nd and told me some guy named Marcus Brown (private processor) called looking for me and actually told my brother that I was in big trouble. He gave me a case number and a telephone number (1-877-239-5603) to call. Marcus Brown was extremely aggressive and very threatening !! Marcus told me that I had all these charges pressed against me and that he was around the corner from my old job.

I called this number and spoke to Jonathan Lewis (Litigation Manager) at ext 304. He told me I had an outstanding balance from a payday loan was from July 1st, 2011. Jonathan then told me that he knows they intentionally wait till interest and penalties accrue before they threaten you. Jonathan then told me that my balance was $695 when supposedly the loan was $200. Because I was so scared and stressed, I ended up paying $500 on May 2nd and had arranged for them to take the remaining $200 at a later date.

On May 2nd, I went immediately after work to Wells Fargo and had them get my archived statements from that year. I also looked up the FDCPA (fair debtor collection practice act) and this Statewide Mediation company is not in compliance what so ever with how they went about contacting me. I also called my local court house and they said if you are ever being pursued with a summons, any processor will just show up .. they would never notify you !!

On May 3rd, i called Jonathan back to express how extremely stressed out I was over this whole situation and how they took every last penny I had in my bank. Jonathan ensured me that Marcus Brown was on suspension and may possibly be relieved of his duties ... I don't know how much of that is true !!

Today (May 7th) , I received a phone call from a "no caller id" so I answered it and it was Jonathan Lewis. He apologized for calling on a blocked number as they were experiencing phone issues. I told him that after researching everything, I was deciding not to pay them another penny until they sent me a letter in the mail stating all the information especially since they had gotten a hold of me. I also told them that I was still no matter what going to be seeking legal advice because they again are out of compliance on many things and the threats were not ok !! Jonathan told me he would talk to his "manager" to get my $200 reduced down to $100. I said I would call back later because I was at work ... Not even 5 minutes later, Jonathan calls me back and says that he came down pretty hard on his manager and they said they would accept the $500 I had already paid and drop all my charges. He then told me they would be sending me a payoff letter to my email. When i told him I wanted it mailed, he said its much easier and cheaper for the lady that handles those to just email it.

These people use scare tactics to steal your money, I am currently in the process of reporting them to the police, FTC, FAA, BBB and my state attorney general

PLEASE READ THE FDCPA AND KNOW YOUR RIGHTS !!

This happened to me  just today.  They called my dad in a different state and told him I   had to call (866) 336 9473 immediately or  I'd  be  served  papers  and arrested. Savannah Lewis would not  tell  me which company  I  owed  this  725   to.  She  even  went so far as to lower my payment down to 250 if I gave her my credit card info right away. That's not how you handle legit legal debt collections.  She had all my information including the bank account number supposedly associated with the loan I took out in 2012 except I didn't have that bank account at that time. She even had several previous addresses of mine. She gave a number to a "locater" who demanded that I pay now or he be would be at my house (which was no longer my house). My mother in law made me aware of the fact that it was probably a scam so I looked up the company and find this. I'm so relieved I didn't pay. When I called back to confront Savannah Lewis I was told she was no longer with that office even though I had talked to her 20 minutes before. Ill give them a piece of my mind if they call again, that's if my very angry husband doesn't get to the phone first

I have also been called by Statewide Mediation group and they contacted my family member (who I have never given out their phone #). I had loans, however ALL of them were paid in with my Loan Consolidation company with paperwork showing what was settled and how much. This is a SCAM! They said the same to me about owing from a loan in 2012 (which was paid), I told them this and they still proceeded to say I would be served with papers if I didn't give them more money. I almost fell for this but I have been threatened before and no one has ever "served" me with papers, as much as I have been told that. What is funny is they gave me this # of 866-336-9743  and when you call if directly goes to an automated system and then you are transferred to a "manager". The phone number cannot be found when searched either. This "manager" said to me after I told him I paid all of my loans, "these are interest fees". Pretty sure, my loan consolidation company settled with this loan they called me about over a year ago and they are still harrassing me. I asked for a bill to be sent to me and I would pay it and he cut me off by saying they will send an email...It all started sounding really fishy to me. He gave a made up name I'm sure of Anthony Richards, extension 403 and you cannot call an extension when you dial the 866 #. These people need to be stopped and please be aware of these scammers!

First some guy named Nick and today a different person called. I told them I knew it was a scam and my lawyer would press charges against them for harassment and having my personal information without permission if they called me again. I told them if it was legit then they would be happy to send me the papers to prove I owe money from this "loan" they speak of that was 6 years ago. The guy got really loud with me and I hung up. They are crazy!!!!  I did call the BBB on them too.  Not even a legit business name or address and no web page.

I got a heated message from "Katie Brooks" too, saying that I have been "officially notified" that there are charges against me, did anything ever come from your call since it's been a few months? I do have a couple things in collections so I am a little wigged, I just am worried about them calling my family or work and putting my job in jeopardy. But it seems like a scam.... I just wanted to know if anything came of it for you.

This company by the name State Wide Mediation ADR @ address: 120 Broadway, suite 1 in 33rd Floor, New York, NY 10009 keeps calling stating i owe 600 dollars from Advance Payday Loan. When they called me they knew my full, DOB, address, SS#, etc. They stated if i didnt pay they would send someone to summons me and that person kept calling me stating they'd see me in 1 hour. I was very scared, i spoke to Unike and a Katlin too.
I called the Assistant Manger at the building mentioned above and she stated she did not know a that suite in the 33rd floor no knew this company name and that it was not on her roster. Thats how i knew it was a scam, plus they would not want to mail me a "Validation Notice" until i'd pay, they also wanted my email instead. Its weird how they got all my info though.
Has anyone else gotten calls from this company. Please be careful. Also, they call block.

NEVER pay any caller who refuses to MAIL proof that the debt is yours and proof that they have the legal right to collect said debt.  Per federal law - the FDCPA - if they refuse/can't/won't mail this documentation to you, they are owed nothing.  It is also illegal to threaten people with court for failure to pay a loan.  Report the caller to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General.

You may also want to record all calls they make to you - and advise them of such.  Keep a log of dates/times they call too.  Again, any caller who will not identify themselves, including company name, physical and mailing addresses, as well as refuses to mail a debt validation letter proving you owe the alleged debt to them, is owed NOTHING.  They actually only have five days from the date of the initial contact with you to mail this documentation.

ADR Statewide Mediation. After calling 3X at both my work and cell phone numbers in the space of a minute, 'Katie Brooks' left a heated message, virtually screaming in their voice mail that 'I had charges against me', and that 'I had one opportunity to cooperate'. As if that weren't laughable enough, they proceeded to demand that I provide with an address and a work address where they could serve me. This is a scam, of course, but it's not even a very good one. Don't fall for their pathetic attempts to scare you. Are you listening, 'Katie Brooks'? Thanks for the best laugh I had all day!

YES. It is a scam.  A HUGE one.  they will call and threaten to serve you with papers to go to court and be "charged" because of a so called unpaid payday loan.  They called ME; and the 'charge' was for my ex-husband.  I really read them the riot act; told them that I knew they were a collection/fraud agency, and that He was in Afghanistan (he really is!) and if they wanted to serve him to go ahead and book a plane ticket to AG; I told them that they could find him in the Konegal Valley, about 1 mile from the Pakistani border.  When they started stuttering and stammering; I smiled.  They continued on to say that they were going to serve ME. That's when I REALLY let them have it.  I said, "Oh, really?  You are going to serve ME with papers for my EXHUSBAND, who is in afghanistan; and at the time he got this so called loan, he was already there, so it is obviously fraudulent; and my name would not have been on any checking account, nor loan because we were divorced then.  SO, if you serve ME, I am going to SUE YOUR BUTT OFF for harrassment because I have absolutely NOTHING to do with this." Oh, also, if you call my daughter again...(yeah, they did that too!  Don't have a CLUE how they got either number!!) I am going to SUE YOUR BUTT OFF FOR HARRASSING A MINOR!!  After a few choice words.....I was rather angry....I had the guy so confused and upset, I could picture him doing the potty dance, and turning bright red.  I absolutely DETEST these kinds of scumbags.  They are lower than the lowest form of life on the planet.  I have no words to describe how vile and completely un-necessary they are for our planet to continue to spin.  Do you get the idea that I HATE these people????  LOL
Good luck.  DONT BACK DOWN FROM THESE PIECES OF GARBAGE!!! Stand your ground, and remember, THEY are the bad guys, NOT YOU. Go for the Jugular; and rip their hearts out!

I received phone calls from these people saying I had not paid off my loan with a payday lender named Quik cash.  We had one here locally that closed and i owed them two payments.  I was informed by Quik Cash to mail them to kellog Id which I did.  They are saying that I never sent the last payment so statewide was handling it.  I got told that I needed to prove that I sent the last payment.  This was years ago so i dont have any receipt of what i sent also i never received any type of correspondance saying i was past due.  These people were even calling my family getting my mother all wound up.  So i decided to pay just to shut them up.  and then get an attorney and file charges against Quik Cash and Statewide.  I got a travel debit card from my bank so I didn't need to give them any bank information.  However, i am going to call to get documentation of the money that I am sending them if they cant produce it then I'll put a block on the debit card.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Know your rights.  Do not acknowledge that you owe anyone anything.  If you do owe someone, still do not admit it or answer yes to any  question.  Demand a "validation notice" be sent to your home by Certified Mail. If they are legit they will have your address and provide you with all the information on the debt you supposedly owe via that validation notice.  If they refuse tell them they are in violation of Federal Law and you are contacting your State's Attorney General to have them prosecuted, then do it.  Their threats are all hot air.  They cannot have you arrested or anything else they are threatening to do.  Look for information on Debt Collection Scams on the internet and also information on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act so that you do know your rights.

Your father needs to cancel that credit card.

The caller is a scammer.  There was never any debt.  The scammer is probably located outside the US, out of reach of US law enforcement.  If your father's credit card number is still valid the scammer will more money from it.  Your father and other friends and relatives will get similar calls from this scammer or from other scammers.  Make sure they know this has happened and know not to pay the caller anything without talking to you.

This outfit contacted my father that I haven't spoken with for over 7 years.  They told him I had an outstanding payday loan that was completed online, and that this debt must be settled by 6pm or a warrant for my arrest would be issued.  After several calls, and threats, my father paid the agreed upon settlement amount (it began at $700, then went to $500, and he paid $420.00)  The only way that they verified who I was my father confirmed my date of birth. They processed credit card for payment.  However when I contacted this company, I was told that account was settled and closed so there was no need to discuss it.  I was hung up on several times.  Finally after contacting BBB, and my attorney, I was able to have paperwork mailed to me. BUT it was a recepit type form that showed account status PAID, and on what date. NO ADDRESS available for this company.  I never took out this payday loan online.  Strange how if I was the borrowee why could I not receive paperwork showing this loan, and where it was direct deposited to.  I am turning this over to my attorney because I'm tired of getting the run around, and unanswered questions.  Such as operator needed Manager approval in order to provide me with address for me to mail correspondance to them. Whatever.
