They told me they were "Search Marketing".  They sell online advertising, but are incredibly annoying, and getting more so - they've called my business twice so far today.

Take the time and call them back and hang up on them, remember it costs them foe people to use their toll free number.

They have been calling my job repeatedly. I called back, and was placed on hold for 7 minutes, and hung up. They also call from 877-244-9179 which is a fax line. I faxed them a cease and desist letter yesterday, but they called back today. I'll be reporting them on Monday.

I've had the exact same experience...multiple calls throughout the day with no one even being on the other end of the line.

Yea, they call here and never say anything eiter.  Time to report them to the BBB and FCC.  If your local state supports a do not call list, contact your congressman or other state official.

These guys are really zipweb. A bunch of crooks. They claim you will be the featured business on Google and Yahoo. The following month you get unauthorized charges on your phone bill. WARNING!!!!!
DON"T GIVE THEM ANY INFO!!!!!

It seems like these callers try to engage you in revealing personal info that can be used for fraud and burglary, like starting out asking you if you like movies, and getting down to just what time you will be out of the house next Saturday night.

Yesterday when they called from this number it was Google selling ads "We want to feature your company" and today it's Zip Web doing the same.  When told to remove us the person with what soundslike an Asian accent curses at you and keeps going while you hang up.

I have received several calls from this number;  what is strange is that it appears in my caller id as an attorney whom I have listed in my address book.  I contacted the lawyer and he has no idea who these guys are.  Have these guys gotten access to my address book????

This 877 number calls my office constantly. When I answer they hang up. When I call back I get a fax number in my ear. I have even faxed them asking them to stop calling my office. How can it be stopped? Has anyone been successful?

Trying to prevent thousands of small businesses from being ripped off by these scammers with their cons is stupid? Really?

Let me explain what these jokers are doing. They are calling small businesses and telling them that they will be listed for free in their online directories (they drop names like google and yahoo, but they are not associated with any legitimate search engines).  They explain that all they need to do is verify the company's information. They record the conversation and edit it so that a completely different script explaining that you are entering into a contract with them and agree to pay to be listed in their crappy online directory is supposedly read to you. After this, they edit your voice in as you respond, "yes" after they finish reading your information to you for "verification". Then, they add a third party charge to your phone bill, hoping you will never notice so they can slowly bilk hundreds from you for as long as they can.

VERY IMPORTANT: anyone who has gotten these calls, no matter how brief the conversation, should monitor their phone bills and other utililty bills/invoices. Better yet, call your phone company today and ask them to put a freeze on your account, so that no third parties can add charges to your phone bill without the phone company calling you and asking if you approve! We have to be vigilant, because as "undisclosed" pointed out, no one cares if you are ripped off. Worse, they'll blame you for it.

Same phone call from this number and 877-244-9197. They're going to get me on the 'front page' of Google. When asked how they're going to do that they tell me I have to talk to a sales rep. One time they said they would use the keywords ' Massachusetts Hotel.' Lovely. I if I had a hotel in Massachusetts, maybe it would be profitable for me to be on the 'front page' of Google.

Just called them back (on-line marketing deal). Asked them to take our # (all 4 of them) off their call list. Very courteous in helping me. We'll see if it works. I know it's a pain, but at least this time I got a real person, who was professional & well-mannered. Let's see if the honey vs. vinegar strategy works.

I just reported this number to the National Do Not Call REgistry at 888-382-1222. All you have to do is register your number, wait 31 days, then reap the harvest. You never even have to talk to anyone. In this case I dialed *69, called the company, got their name, called NDNCR.

Al settle down man settle down.  You are seriously scaring me.

This call comes in at all times of the day and no answer when I pick it up.  Please investigate

They also call using the number 877-244-9197. I answered they hang up. Thank goodness for a great feature on the Panasonic cordless 6.0 DECT phones. It has a call block feature that if you enter the number and they call, they will get a fast busy signal. Your phone will ring once and read 'Call Blocked' on the caller ID screen. It works for me since they have been calling the past couple of days. Google the 9197 number and check it out. Same scam.

Rec'd junk marketing ph call from 877-244-9179 - [4:35 pm, Sat. afternoon at 4:35 pm, no less, of all times!] - did not answer, no msg left. Reverse Lookup provided ZipWeb dirtbags.

We dump all of these types of sleazy ph calls into voice jail, each and every time.

Hopefully it really pisses them off, given how irritating these recalcitrant and contumacious telemarketing types can be.

Remember dying for your own country, doesn?t make you a hero. Having the dirt bags die for you is what makes you the real hero!!!

They all, and don't leave a message. After all, just like Obama, never unveil your true intentions. Keep your hideous, sneaky intentions close to your vest, and try to high-pressure the sucker at the other end of the phone.

This is why we automatically program our phone switch to route dirt-bags of this ilk into voice jail, after their first attempt. And I'm sure it pisses them off.

If they had any modicum, one iota, a small shred of integrity and business ethics, they would clearly state what their real intentions were, the purpose of their call, and easily accessible information on who they were, to check out on the BBB.

Nope, can't have that. Let's be like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Obama. Say one thing, and lie thru our teeth, and do something else.

AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANLTY:  Sure wish we could spray D.D.T. on these telemarketing dirt bags to solve the problem!

I realize the liberals in the audience will no doubt take offense to this. They take offense to anything that works. After all if it works and solves problems, tax it to death. If it moves and runs, regulate it to death. And if it just sits there, then drown it in undeserving entitlements at the expense of others.

Another RoboCall...this one hangs up as soon as you answer...they call at 10am and then at 11am including saturdays!

A call came in from 1-877-244-9179. I didn't pick up. Caller didn't leave a voice message. I returned call, and was initially greeted by a robo-voice asking me to "please hold." Moments later, a male voice came on the line with this introduction: "Customer service, this is Gabriel, how may I help you." "Gabriel" offered no further identification.

They are Zip Web. They have called before and I tell them we have no interest in advertising with them ever and to stop calling and remove us from their list. But, they continue to waste our time so I will report them.

They want to sell online advertising but to be honest? If they are still calling after being asked to stop then they are up to no good and out to scam someone. If they were legit they would act like real business people.
