They call my home every morning on my cell asking for my mother, saying they are from Amex Pharmacy and they wanted to conduct a study for health problem my mother doesn't have. Her name is Lisa. I never heard of a pharmacy doing that. BEWARE!

CRA & ASSOCIATES ARE A SCAM THEY ACT LIKE THEY CAN DO SOMEHTING ... DON'T THEY KNOW THAT TEXAS DOES NOT GARNISH YOUR CHECK FROM DEBT OWED AND THIS LOAN IS OVER 7 YRS. OLD.... THEY ACT LIKE IF YOU DON'T PAY THEM THEN AND THEIR THEY WILL FILE WITH THE COURTS AND COME ARREST YOU.....

This company CRA & Assoc. called my house asking for my fiance. I told them that he worked out of town and I have no way to call him because my house phone does not call long distance....but they pretty much called me a liar and would not listen to anything i would say. Then they told me that I was a lunatic and was going to red flag his account because of it!!! These people are rude and....just not right..they pretty much told my mother that she was sleeping with him and they wanted her to have him call them as soon as he gets home from work......but in reality he won't be home till late in the week!!!

A lady left me a message with all kinds of threats. She didn't even know who was at my address, because my name is not on the answering machine greeting! Very threatening! She wouldn't identify her name nor her company. I did some Internet research and found out that it is Consumer Recovery Associates out of Virginia Beach, VA. It is a company listed as having "1 to 4 employees" and no revenue this year. It seems that they also read these chat boards. When they find that their alias is blown, they change it. "Richard Scott" now is "Chris Adams". I suppose they have a whole list of aliases. It looks like they look at credit bureau reports and try to collect on expired and uncollectable debts. If you are silly enough to send them any money, don't count on it clearing up your credit bureau account. Also, if you send them EVEN ONE PENNY, that starts the statute of limitations all over again from day 1. You don't want to know what the interest charges will be!

I too also got a rude message from a Wendy with CRA. She stated that they have a case with me in which it needs to be cleared up ASAP. They are trying to bluff their way through threatening people.

I received a call from a woman who said she was the secretary and from a legal processing firm called CRA (turns out to be Consumer Recovery Associates)she was calling from 630 242-6623 HINSDALE, IL. She gave me the return call number of 877 245-1482. She connects me and he tells me his name is Samuel Clemens that's "Mark Twain" I guess. Very original. Claimed I owned money from 10 years ago and he was processing a 1099 form to claim the amount and sending it to the IRS. But I could stop it by paying him. I could hardly stop laughing. Anyone would have to be petty stupid to fall for that. I told him I would be having my attorney call him concerning this matter. He said he didn't care. The Federal Trade Commission really needs to put a stop to this guy. I am filing a formal complaint, he has broken the law, and having my attorney call him. Law suit time.

This lady (Dori) called me, looking for my sister, who I don't even talk to anymore.
Then I called the number back and the guy said he wouldn't remove my number, for me to tell my sister to call or they were going to keep calling me.  I live on the other side of the United States then she does.
What an A hole, if they call me I will sue for harassment.

I received an URGENT phone call from this company... She did NOT leave a name and when I called to find out what was going on.... a John Thomas told me they were reporting me to the IRS for a debt that that I owe them... and 'whatever' this company's name is... (they would not tell me...) when I told them that they were wrong and I wanted proof...and this was the first I had EVER heard of this 'so called debt'.... he hung up on me. When I called back, asking for proof and this is the first I had heard of it and how dare they send false information to the IRS, 1099 on me... his response... was 'I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT WITH THIS"... and hung up on me!!

These people have not called me but I have just heard about them today. They even track down people that they somehow find out you are associated with and call them trying to get information about you.
The phone number they are using now has been traced to a cell phone out of North Georgia. The very ,very, very rude man is a white male. I think it is past time to turn all of the information ya'll / we have to the news media and your local police departments for an investigation.

Received call from 415-513-5915. This is the 3rd call in 4 days all referring back to 866-583-0814. Stated name was Amber from CRA processing firm. 1st call representative tried to sound frantic as if it were an emergency. This call message was a little more calm. I routinely check my credit reports as well as have LifeLock. I have no old or outstanding deliquent debts. Were they find socials and old information is concerning. Not worth a call back. Protect yourselves and do not release any personal information. This threat of reporting to IRS for unpaid accounts is nonsense. Keep in mind that the IRS can only garnish wages for tax debts, student loans, and child support.

This extremely rude man named richard scott called me this morning fom a company called c r a. He was trying to get me to pay on a ten year old debt that had already been settled and threatend to have my wages garnished by the irs. I tried calling back to get there address and they would not give it and became irrate and then disconected the number when i called back. These people are scammimg people and need to be stopped! I am turning them in to the federeal trade commision

My wife received a mail that pertains to me, that I owe 2,737.75 on a First USA credit card since 1999.  Wife called the number and it was A Miss Debbie Hawkins answered.  She said that paperworks are ready for the IRS, that I need to pay it immediately.  While this was going on my wife was harassed and ridiculed on the phone.  Researched the number and told the wife not to be bothered it's a scam.

State that we have to pay the credit card which has a balance of 2,789.00 since 1999.  But the truth of the matter is this is not true.  This is a scam.  People dont fool with these people.  The persons name is Debbie Hawkins.

Valerie called asking for a different first name than mine but w/the same last name.  I monitor my calls so she had to leave a msg stating that it was an URGENT matter at their office and I needed to contact them immediately.  I just deleted the message but used this service to find out who they are.

Called my step mother and said it was urgent with the name Valerie and a case no. So She called back with this guy named Chris Adams who asked her if she ever got out of the house or the hills. Then she told him he was being recorded and he hung up so she called back asking who he was and he told her it was none of her business. If it wasn`t any of her business why did he call her number I ask. Stupid was what she called him when he said be advised not to call that number back and she again laughing told him he was stupid and that he called her..hahaha.

Be advised it is a scam. Very rude when I asked who it was and when I said he was being recorded he got even ruder about it. Who knows what they were. If it was a legitimate company first off they would not have been rude. They would have been apologetic when told the person they were hunting did not live here. Instead he made reference did I not ever get out of the house and hung up on me.

I got a call from (877) 245-1482 stating his name as Chris Adams. When asked who or what he was he smarted off "don`t you ever get out of those hills" and I told him he was being recorded and he said it was none of my business why he called. Well, come on, he called me so evidently it was my business. Then I told him he was being recorded and he told me be advised not to call the number there anymore. Again, he called me..lol.

A message was left for me to call "Wendy" concerning a very important and urgent matter! The caller also went as far as to say that I was affiliated with an organization of whom I am  on the Board! Of course I knew that this information could easily be researched via the web.
I called the number and the person who answered ask me what I was calling for. Go figure! He also threatened to report me to the IRS and file a 1099 as income received on a charge account!!!! He then asked for my address to mail me the tax information. I let him know that they had the resources to get my number and a whole lot of other information, he shold be able to do that also.

These people are nuts!!!!  they just called me.  I spoke with a Chris Adams.  They asked me to call 877-245-1482 but called me from 570-561-0877.  He had my entire credit report!!! How did he get this.  This is scary!!!!

Got a message on my home machine to call 877-245-1482. I get lots of these calls for same name but different ss#. When I returned the call, some arrogant mouth told me I was being sued. After some heated conversation he hung up. I called back to get his supervisor who was going to have a conference with the rude man "Mr.Adair".

these guys are at it again, a year later and they are trying the same person with the same scam.  This time it was a guy calling himself Mr. Gal.  And he needs to speak to me or my legal representative.  I'm still amazed these guys haven't been shut down. They are even leaving local numbers as well as the 877-245-1482 number.  In this case it was a local Seattle area code 206.774.9857.  These guys use old information to try and get money from you. I confronted this guy and his coworkers begging them to send me papers and try to go after me.  I used all the information that I could get from this website against them until they threatened leagel action and hung up.  They basically said I was a deadbeat who didnt pay his bills.  I'd like to go toe to toe with any of thier employees with my credit report against thiers.  People who work for these companies are sad a pathetic.  Call them out on this scam and get them rialed up till they hang up, you will feel better and they will be the ones frustrated the rest of the day.

I too received a message on my answering machine last night. Andrew Long needed to speak to me urgently and to call back at 877-245-1482.  When I called this morning (from a blocked phone number), they wouldn't give me any information about what the call was unless I gave them my phone number and name.  I asked what services the company provides and they refused to give me any information.  Also, when I called there wasn't any ringing, but music - like a CELL PHONE that plays music instead of actually ringing and I heard a dog barking in the background.

This number calls me and leaves a message, says it's urgent and time sensitive. Tells me to call back 1-877-245-1482 by the end of business today. I return the call 30 minutes later and it's this guy with a company he would only identify as "CRA". When I asked him what was so urgent he says there's a lawsuit being filed against me for an old credit card I had 7 years ago. First of all, I informed him of my rights in Arizona under the Fair Debt and Collection Act. Second I informed him this credit card had already been dismissed from my credit record. This guy says he works for a law firm and if they don't get $2000 by 9PM tonight, they're filing suit. I asked for the attorney's names...big shocker he wouldn't give them out. Next, he tells me he needs my bank account and routing number to set up payments. I told him to go to hell, I'm not giving that out over the phone. If they wanted to send me an invoice or a statement, that was fine. The bottom line is, this guy doesn't work for a law firm...it's a collection agency looking to make a buck on disputed and dismissed debt that I don't owe anymore. The guy wouldn't give me any information about his collection agency, no address, phone numbers they use or why he was lying to me over the phone.  DO NOT ANSWER THIS PHONE CALL!!! It's not urgent, it's a moron collection agent looking to make a buck by scaring people with fake lawsuits. By the way, last time I checked...I live in Arizona and the only way a suit can be filed against me...is in Arizona!  Same as everyone else here, these people are breaking the law. I hope they call back so I can inform them, I doubt that will get a response.

My boss received a call from these people at his sisters place of employment. I'm sure there has to be some sort of violation right there. I am his personal assistant and make lots of calls for him, and no one has ever given me grief about it before. The number was 1-877-245-1482. The callers name was Sarah. Apparently she did not like having someone other than one of her potential phone victims call her back. I politely let her know that I was calling on behalf of my boss, and that I was attempting to determine what service their company provides. She said she thought it was "fishy" that my boss had me call rather than call himself. I rebuddled of course that I thought it was "fishy" that she had called his sisters workplace rather than call him directly. She asked why he would not call back himself, and I retorted with, "Why will you not simply tell me what service your company provides?" she screamed at me that I need to have my boss call her back, and proceeded to hang up in me. Interesting! This will be handed over to his lawyer in the morning! :)

I got a call from my grandmother of 90 yrs of age, stating "You need to call these people it very important".  She thought something was wrong with one of my kids.  so she gave me a ref. number and the phone number.  I call and spoke with Chad.  I told Chad very RUDLY if he or anyone else better never call my grandmother again.  He got rude with me and said he was sending out judgement papers to sue me.
I asked "FOR WHAT!" he sad for a pass due Discovery card.  I told him i never had one, but to send the paper so i could wipe my a** with it. needless to say he hung up on me.

-866-857-3916 is one of those irritating numbers that show up on your caller ID that can never seem to be identified.   When you return the call, you get the ominous "Can I help you?" or "Case number please."  They refuse to identify who they are when questioned, will not state they are debt collectors, and by tone imply you have committed some illegal act and are in great trouble or they would not have called you.  It is a violation of FDCPA.  It took quite a bit of research and cunning to discover whom the voices were behind the lawbreaking 866 number were...but it's coming together now and they are without excuse.
