Wow all the collectors on here and none of know a goddamn thing.  Asking to verify your social security number is the law,  not illegal.  If you want to stop collection efforts send a cease and desist.  Oh you already knew that though.  Violated the FTC rules seriously?  But you are a collector.  Don't you mean FDCPA you f****ng retard.  

If the bottom-feeders working for the JDBs would adhere to the FDCPA & stick to the legal methods of collecting debt their minions wouldn't be here whining about people that are too smart to be defrauded!
If you're stuck trying to supplement your minimum-wage paycheck with meager commissions, blame yourself. It takes a really low person to want to try to collect on invalid, time-barred & bogus debt. If you'd stayed in school & made a better person of yourself you wouldn't be here trying to validate your failing enterprise.

You people are some of the dumbest, back woods idiots known to man.  Do not call list does not pertain to bill collectors which you won't pay.  Picking up and saying do not call and hanging up does not stop anything.  Try paying your goddamn bills or answering your phone to stop repeated called.  Maybe not post here wondering who is calling.  I picked up and paid a past bill.  Man you people are what is wrong with America.  

This number has called me on and off for a while, but I never seem to catch the call. There is never a message, always just a missed call. My policy is if it's not important enough to leave a message, it's not important enough to call back. I just wish I knew why they keep calling.

Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL proof that you owe the debt. Refusal to mail proof of debt is a violation of the FDCPA.  The burden of proof is on the debt collector to show you owe a debt to them.

Now, off to work you go ...

I got the call, and instead of being an A**, I actually listened to what they were saying and pulled out some old paperwork.  Guess what... I owed the bill, I bet more than half you people are bitching about things you actually owe.  Get off you high horse, cause we have no clue who you are and we wont care if you admit it here..

These people are working for a living, check your own records,  You will be surprised at what you find.

It is mercantile. These idiots called me at all hours of the day,breaking laws. I collect so I know. It's for an ER visit I had. I kept telling them I was insured and to stop calling me,they continued. Called the hospital,they gave me the runaround. Finally I said screw it and set up payments. I was suspicious of the amount owed so I called my insurance provider,who informed me mercantile was collecting WAY more than they should be. Even though I told these retards numerous times to stop calling until I hear back from my insurance,they continue to call. Next call I will be recording my notice to them to stop calling me for this fraudulent debt and then I will drive to their office personally if need be. So if they call you,definitely check validity of said debt!!!!!!

They called and would not pursue conversation without our SSN. Hung up. If debt collectors. They have the wrong #. And violated FTC rules in debt collection. I was a collector. They are bogus.

Going to do not call --will not stop the callers.  They still call.  I tried several times.

These people at Merchatile are not nice.  And they try to collect on bills that have been written off.  In other words, the company said that its no longer a bill as its been so long they wrote it off as a loss.  Be careful.  Demand to see the original bill and don't admit to anything until  you see that bill. By law, every bill collector is suppose to mail a bill to you after contact with you.  Never happens though.  This is the law in NY so check with your state laws before you act or speak.  They don't leave a message with me, as I have turned off my voice mail.

I have been getting calls from this number about every other day and its always at 1 or 2 am. They leave a voice mail almost every time. Its a mans voice every time and its very odd. They say there looking for a Jane Smith for a debt collector. I never anwser because im pretty sure its a scam. Anyways im getting sick of waking up to this call every morning.

I have called this number and left message to *&^$@!!! Stop calling.  The message they leave is for some guy named Sergio Varga....NO SUCH PERSON AT THIS PHONE  NUMBER.  SO STOP ^&$%#$^!!! calling!

i keep getting calls from these dips**ts.. my caller id says SPAM right on it.  Ive answered once and when it said I have to call them back I didnt.. unless they can call me with a human I refuse to speak with them, ive actually started answering and hanging up just so I dont have to hear my phone ringing (I can mute the handset but not the base).

I hate this collection message- a very creepy robot voice says my name, and they call all the time but of course it's just a recording to call them back. Well, I finally did and it was for some small debts I owed the hospital that my insurance hadn't paid. They were polite and let me work out a reasonable payment plan.

Same here.  I usually hang up but today they left a VM.  I called them back to have them take my number off their list as I am not the person they are trying to contact.  These are the nastiest people!  I'm sure glad I don't owe any money!

I keep receiving calls from this number.  They start 'This call is for {name}.  If you are not {name}, hang up immediately.  Do not continue lsitening.'  Being an obedient person, I hang up.  Well today, they left a VM.  I am not the person they are trying to collect money from (YES - it is a collection agency).  I called them and honestly, they are the nastiest people I have dealt with.  I sure hope the calls stop but I hold no hope.

 I have have gotten this call at least 2 dozen times. They say to hang up if I am not ****** I have been hanging up thinking they would get the message, I continue to get these calls, I am not Shelly Alcurron. Please get a different number.

Bill collector calling for no one that lives here . Have had this unpublished number for 7 years

They called my house yesterday and I did not pick up because the caller ID actually said "SPAM" LOL. I even took a picture as proof because it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. The message left on my machine did Identify them as a debt collector looking for my adult son who has not lived with us for 5 years.

Keep getting calls from them on our office voice mail we call back and leave a message for them to return our call.  They never call when someone is in the office.  They never leave the name of whom they are calling for.

It's Merchantile. They called me today. Yes I am well aware of the fact that I have an overdue emergency room bill. (which I feel I shouldn't have to pay b/c the ER Drs. didn't do a darn thing for the stones in my gall bladder, which I still live with the pain). Beside that point the lady I spoke with was very nice and said that she would get back with me after the holidays to set up payment arrangements.
