Thank you, thank you, thank you for the instructions for removing my number from their list. They have been calling me for a year, sometimes twice a day and sometimes early in the morning - we are retired and do not get up at the crack of dawn - and my number block option on my phone was already full so I couldn't add them. This information about removing them is priceless! Thanks again!

Did not leave message on answering machine.
Anonimous 2011-06-06 21:04:07 Unknown
they call every day in the morning, and nobody answering on that side of the line
Me2 2011-06-06 21:04:07 Unknown
Started calling me daily about 3 days ago. The number 877-254-7934 belongs to The American Lung Assoc. I blocked my number with "*67" and called them back and got their robot message. First pressed "1" and then option "3" to be removed from their call list within 30 days, although the robot said they would try to remove my number within a few days.
Phyl 2011-06-06 21:04:07 Unknown
They call every day 6 times a day, no one there
Flynn 2011-06-06 21:04:07 Unknown
Followed Me2's instructions - according to the message we'll be removed from their call list over the next few days (although by law they have 30 days). Thanks Me2!

jackie 2011-06-06 21:04:07 Unknown

bj 2011-06-06 21:04:07 Unknown
They called me today 7 times. Picked it up and no one there.
fran 2011-06-06 21:04:07 Unknown
I did the same thing, called backone of these yesterday and requested they remove my number, so we'll see...I blocked most of the 800 service numbers that keep calling here, but they keep changing the number - too bad they are allowed to do that.

The American Lung Association keeps calling me. I definitely will not donate to them. They are annoying. They called me on a Sunday. I told them not to call me and they called back on Monday at 8:28 am. Again I told them not to call me. The National Do Not Call Registery is a joke. I have a sick person in the home and do not need these annoying phone calls.

Some idiot calls me three times a day from 877 254 7934. Answer picks-up, no message. I pick-up ,no response. Cyber says it is American Lung Asso. Tactics like this will not earn my support or dollars. I am a member of "Jenn's Gems" Lancaster Relay For Life, American Cancer Society. We don't cold call and not respond....

American A** Clowns I freely donate 0 dollars and I hope your boiler room implodes while your inside.
Take me OFF your list. I stump for the American Cancer Society. I'll never "BLOW-UP" anyones phone
for a donation, how could you expect to be successful?

I have been receiving calls from this number at all hours of the day, every day. My husband got on the Iine and talked to them very harshly and demanded that they not call us again. We still get calls from them everyday. I was shocked to find out this number is for the American Lung Association. Needless to say I will not be donating to them any time soon. I called the number today to have my name taken off their calling list. We shall see if it really happens. I also get calls from them on another number but when I called that number today they said it was disconnected.

My approach, although it doesn't stop the calls, it does make ME feel better:
Go to http://www.lungusa.org/donate/ (American Lung Association). Let them know that harrassing telephone calls have only succeeded in removing them from MY donation list. Let them know that they're only hurting themselves and all the people they could possibly help with the money. Let ALA know that money they do make on the harrassing calls is 'blood money' painfully extracted from people. If people do donate, they only open the door to more harrassing. There are better places for me to donate that don't share the funds collected with a PROFIT-MAKING calling company. Let the FTC know that it is definitely not a non-profit company calling.
Copy your opinions all over the place -- blogs, FTC, letters to the editor, social mtgs, and so on. Spread the word.
BTW, if I'm home, I just push the speaker button on the phone and go on with whatever I'm doing. Often hear, "hello, hello, hello". I ignore them just as they ignore my requests to stop calling -- and I take pleasure in the fact that the call is costing them.

Received a call and told the man we were on the "no call" list. He insisted that I was a man by another name. Told him to remove our number from his list.

Received calls from 866-666-2190, 866-666-2188, 202-607-2856, 202-607-2914 all Am Lung Assoc.
Never gave them any $$, blocked the calls and they switch to a new number. Hesitant to call
them back to remove number. Will be filing complaint with the FTC this week.

I agree with most of your post and have indeed spent many nights hitting redial while watching TV. The only caveat I offer is that even though you may have call blocking on your phone, toll free numbers DO see your number since they pay for incoming calls. So they WILL know who called. I still think we should all do it.

OK folks - HERE's how to 'get-even' with all the 1- 800 numbers that call you at all hours:
1. Get a caller ID device with large letters that allow you to read (from a distance) the phone number.
(This step is OPTIONAL and only for your convenience).
2. DON'T ANSWER anything from a 8XX-XXX-XXXX caller - let it ring to your answering machine. Eventually they'll give up.
3. When you have some spare time - Call All those numbers back and hang up just after 'they' answer.
Why: It doesn't cost you a dime - but the 800 phone number (owners) pay $1.00 for each call that is placed to them. If a few million of us just do the few steps listed above - guess what's going to happen to their 1-800 business?!!!
Also - you might want to take out a 'short' stock position with the major Phone Companies - as they're about to get RICH and send their stockholders some dividends! Those dividends could be yours!
Bye for now!

I blocked the last call but they seem to have switched lines and keep calling even though I don't want them too.
I think that these solicitations are becoming harassment and the should be something done about them.If we don't answer after say, 10 times, they should not be allowed to continue to call. We obviously are not picking up intentionally.
Mary Jo uu 2010-08-29 02:37:27 Unknown
I have received a call from that number almost several times a day.
Sally 2010-08-28 18:12:25 Unknown
I did not answer this call but I did call back a while later. It is the "American Lung Association". There is an opportunity to have your name removed from their list. I did that so we'll see if they really do.
Sharon Martineau 2010-08-26 16:59:39 Unknown
Also 202-607-2856 These numbers are the American Lung Association. They won't quit calling!!!
Harressed 2010-08-26 02:37:08 Unknown
I have received more than seven calls from this 1-877-254-7934 number. I have called the number and asked that they stop calling me. It only results in more calls from this number. When you call back it says the number belongs to the American Lung assoication, however when you imput your number to be removed it only results in more calls. The calls are from a woman sometimes who has an accent. Sometimes it is music. Sometimes it is just air no voice or any message.

You can remove your name from their calling list by calling the number back, listening to the options, and finally getting to an option that gets you off their list. Be patient. You have to listen to a short spiel about The American Lung Association. Then you type in your phone number, and they agree to remove your number.

Did as suggested above and had my number removed from their call list.
Red 2010-08-16 16:17:57 Unknown
I don't need it, I don't want it, if I had it, I would give to you. SO PLEASE STOP CALLING MY NUMBER. GO GET A JOB or something. You're costing me money each time you call. STOP IT!!!!
DPS in PA 2010-08-16 12:48:53 Unknown
Followed instructions and received prompt that would attempt to remove my number from the call last in next several days. (although federal law allows 30 days)
