This is a scam. They are now using a new number - 877-674-7502 and this time it's a lady caller. Be careful out there. Do not get hooked. They will try everything to convince you that you have a case & will try to make you settle the case by calling them back & send money to them via Western Union or MoneyGram or get your bank account.

I received harrassing phone calls at home and at work about a debt collection. I decided to call back because the most recent messages said that I was going to be sued for fraud in that a took out a payday loan from Cash Star Group and never paid in back. Supposedly I took out this online payday loan in November 2008. The person that called me was a "James Sherman" who was a process server and he said he was going to serve me at work. He gave me a number to call - 877-328-8403 and call the Law Firm of Anthony H. Rodriguez. I called and provided the case number that James Sherman provided. The guy at the firm, a Mr. Lomax, said that I took out an online payday for $300 in November 2008 and never paid t and that now I owe $570 with attorney and collection fees. I never took out a payday loan. He said I have the option of paying it now or paying up to three times that amount when they take me to court. What a scam!!

I had them call me several times, I have a friend who is an attorny and she called them and they claimed to have never called me and didnt know why I would say that they were calling, Plus the BAR number that they give you is a fake!

I got an automated voicemail from this number claiming I have defaulted on payment arrangements with them. The message said they have recorded calls with me agreeing to the payment terms and that they will be turning these tapes over to the courts when they sue me. I have never talked to these people in my life and I can't think of anything I would be in default for. Is this a scam?

Same number and saying the same thing.I will not call them back. My bank said they are a scam.

I have been getting the same phone calls so I called the payday loan that they said it was from and they have never heard of that company do not pay them its a scam!!!

I have also receive a call from a "Gary Dell" from the law office of Anthony Rodriguez.877-349-1577.  I just looked at my credit report & I have no past due accounts.  I think this is a crap call & not going to loose any sleep over it.  Come & get me!

There is another number for these people. The number is 877-350-2087. I called it back didnt talk to anyone hung up when it said who it was so i could look up the place.

I have been receiving unknown calls from a Lauren Hunter for Anthony H Rodriguez who said the same stuff about having court papers for me to sign to appear in court and that they would be by tomorrow to deliver them and I must be available and have valid ID.  I like reading that this stuff is a scam because I do have bad debt unfortunately from payday loans, but I certainly wouldn't want any threats from bill collectors at my job or my home or family. the number I am being told to call back is 877-340-6325.

I looked it up by name and he doesn't come up... Tried looking by name on the national Bar Association Data base and nothing comes up.. I wonder how he's there by number but not name... huh.. just wondering

I was getting calls from this number for months.  Then finally got messages from a delivery service that said they were coming to my house on Monday for me to sign affidavits for court.  I called the company back (claiming to be the law office of Anthony Rodriguez).  After refusing to give him my last four of my social they spoke to me. Claimed that I took out a payday loan in 2008 (funny thing is I have been retired since 2006) and I owed 900.00 and they would only accept a prepaid credit card or actual credit card or they will see me in court and will bring me up on charges of defrauding a company. I said I would like to take care of it in court (if it was something that I owed- I would at least know who I was owing it to)  I asked for "Chris" to send me the information in writing and I was told that I was too late for that.  I received another message on 3-7-11 (the day they were supposed to serve me) that they were coming (no court server does that) and if I was not available that he would go to my place of employment.  If he was unable to acquire my signature he would forward to the proper personnel (whoever that may be).  I just happened to be home that whole day and no one showed up.  I just received a call today 3-21-11 from Chris who wanted to go over the claim. When I said that he wasted mine and my attorney's day (little white lie) waiting for Corey Daniels he said he was unclear why he didn't come but he saw that they were setting my up on a payment schedule for 100.00 a month.. I said NO I want to go to court and do it.  He was shocked.  I told him that my attorney wanted to send correspondence to Mr. Rodriguez and I needed the address.  He gave me an address of 1001 state st, ste1400 eerie, pa 16501 (an address that has never heard of anthony rodriguez).  I then asked him for the proper spelling of Mr. Rodriquez bc my attorney was having difficulty finding him listed as an attorney under the bar.  Said it must be an incorrect spelling (hahaha) and he immediately hung up on me.  FIRST OFF ... DEBT COLLECTORS MUST SEND YOU SOMETHING IN WRITING AND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO DISPUTE IT (IF YOU DISPUTE IT THEY CAN'T CONTINUE TO COLLECT TILL THEY SEND YOU PROOF)  IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO SAY YOU ARE AN ATTORNEY AND THREATEN CRIMINAL PROSECUTION FOR A CIVIL MATTER...  This guy is not an attorney (or at least one that can't be identified) and the address is fake ... Don't give them any money.. if you talk to them insist on getting everything in writing and when they won't file a complaint with the FTC and ATTORNEY GENERAL for your state (like I did)  These are guys that buy undocumented collections for pennies on the dollar and harrass and threaten people to get a boat load of cash... Don't give them any info and don't feel bad about hanging up on them.. they did it to me when I asked a simple question that any REAL attorney would be happy to give you....Don't fall for it

YES!!!! I have been getting calls from this 866-255-2158 number ad well. First a man or woman was calling me telling me that they were coming to my house to serve me court papers or for me to call this 877 number to discuss what I supposedly owe. He said he wad going to an old address which I'm sure he didn't. Now I'm getting the calls from this recorded message saying call attorney Anthony Rodriguez back with a phony claim#. This is all a scam, before I became a nurse I was a debt collector for four years, and what they ate doing is illegal. A collector cannot threaten you, they can only say things that are true, or something that is true that they can really do or they are going to do it. They cannot threaten you with false information to scare you into paying them. If a debt collector continues to harass you, you can report them to the attorney general, also you can contact the FDCPA. That is who controls the debt collection agencies and they have to follow the laws undetermined the FFCPA. Do not give in people, this is clearly a scam and if any of us do owe anything, they do not have a right to collect in this matter. Report this guy and company to the attorney general and FFCPA. Take care.

Got a call from a process server a few months ago that said he was gonna come to my house and if i wasn't there he was gonna go to my job. Well the two addresses he had listed on were very old. Got a recorded voicemail tonight and called them back. Guy on the phone was very nice unitl he asked for a credit card or prepaid card and i refused to give it to him. Said they send info to an old address but had a new one for me. Well the new one they had was where we lived before the old address he said he sent info to. I'm really starting to think this is just a scam. I'm not calling them back or giving them any info.

Another number they are calling from is Law Offices of Anthony H. Rodriguez (877) 299-5501 ext. 112 and ask for Bryan. They contacted my sister and said that I had a claim in their office. How do these people find your real family. They called my job too and I told them if they didn't stop I would file a lawsuit. That all of our company calls are recorded and traced. They have not called me back at work.

They also pose as you being approved for a car loan although you never tried to get a car in years.

Saying their a law office.......but are actually Debt Collectors.

This guy was recently admitted to the bar in May 2010....the BBB has no record of this company or Mr. Rodrigues so for those of you who said you filed a complaint, I would check on the status.

My Brother just got a call from the 877-255-2158 # tonight. I told him NOT to even call it back, that I would try to find out some information about the "strange" call first! I read all your posts, and appreciate the info! Does anyone know how to go about, or whom to contact to report the call? We still have it on a recorded voicemail.

I got another call from them and this time I pressed '0' and spoke to 'Mr. Douglas' who's first question to me was whether or not a process server had been to my house yet HE DID NOT EVEN KNOW WHO I WAS!!! I said no. Then he said 'let me check if I can retract the court orders for your appearance' then puts me on hold, STILL DOES NOT KNOW WHO I AM. Then he comes back and tells me that I owe Ace Cash Store for theft of services! I try to tell him I owe noone at Ace and never have he informed me I better watch my tone! Then proceeds to tell me they will get it out of me ONE WAY OR ANOTHER! I told him I have nothing and he cuts me off calling me a professional debtor and it is is scum like me that keep them working!!! I told him Bless you and hung up at that point. HE STILL WOULD NOT LET ME TELL HIM HE HAD THE WRONG PERSON. I TRULY FEEL THREATENED BY THE COMMENT OF THEM GETTING IT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. IT IS NOT ME, WHAT DO I DO???

I've had the same situation.  A guy kept calling my job stating he was in the lobby and come sign these papers or he would be forced to call the police for fraud.  Well, I knew it was impossible to be in the lobby of my job as you just can't walk in and there are three different security clearances you have to go through.

The next day he called and said he was outside my sister's house and my sister was refusing to sign.  Seeing I have no sisters made it more weird.  Yes, I defaulted on a few pay day loans.  Unfortunately and fortunately, I filed bankruptcy and had them all cleared, which finally gave me peace of mind from the enormous harrassing phone calls, law suits, garnishments, etc.,  P.S.  Live within your bidget.  Avoid the pay day loans if you can....

I did call A.H. Rodrequez and asked them to stop threatening me or i would counter suit and they stopped.  .Peace.

Received a call from this # though it was a recorded voice stating that I or my attorney should call back regarding a claim against me. First time I called got vm stating it was from attorney Anthony Rodriguez & 2nd time I called got a message stating it was a company named Cross Pointe. I don't owe anyone anything so I will b ignoring these calls going forward & I will be contacting the BBB with info. Nice try as they say this is a scam.

Got a call from a female voice which I think was a recording. When it said my name it was a computer. They say either I or my legal representative are required to call back concerning a pending claim. I don't owe anyone anything. I was afraid to call back. They gave me a claim number. I do have a son who has had some debt problems so I thought maybe they were trying to get to him but I found out that is illegal to use a different name. Not sure if I should call back or not. ?? Is this definitely a scam?

I received a call from this number yesterday from an Anthony H. Rodriguez stating there was a claim against me in their law office and I or my attorney of record should contact them immediately before further legal action is taken.  This whole thing is a scam.  They never call me from the same number.  First they started calling me at work.  When I would not fall for their scam and told them not to call me at work again, they started calling me everyday on my home phone.  I know this is a scam because whenever you ask them questions about who is saying I owe them money they can never give you a straight answer.  They just want to get your voice authorization so they can try to get money from your bank account.  Never say the word "yes" if you do decide to take a call from one of these scammers.

Ok, yea I got a call and pressed option two and spoke to a Darrel/Daryl...but he claim someone by the name of nakita/naketa banks provided my information. I told I have no idea who that is, nor have ever had any legal claims. He stated that he couldn't give any information out, but you have my number? Wierdo.

Um yea better business bureau will be receiving a call and I will be filing a police report Law Offices of A.H. Rodriguez who can seem to tell me what the call was in regards to...SMH!

I just added my note to a post related to this one but it was listed with a phone number of 877-255-2156.  I got a call today with the number you reference above - 877-255-2158.  It appears to be a scam and they try to coerce and scare people into giving their private information.  See the post with the other phone number.  
The call comes from someone that goes to a lot of trouble to make the call seem legit - complete with the "recorded" voice giving the File #.

This is very strange.  It is the same message that all of the other numbers have left over the last year but this time they are asking for my brother in law which is really strange.  They say they are calling from a law office and that a file is pending in their office and to call them back.
