They call and never say anything.  I blocked them from calling me again.  Morons...

This company left a message asking if I knew the whereabouts of someone.  No way would I EVER give out this kind of information even if I had it.  I don't know who these fools are on the other end of the line.

they call at all hours and days. many times there is no one on the line but a recording. the couple of times i got a live person they asked for someone who doesnt live here. i told them not to call yet they still do. how can you stop them? they seem like prevs to me also.

This skank kept talking but was saying nothing. I asked them to stop calling and asked about several names. They were not mine. I finally asked for her mailing address and company name and she got very forgetfull about who she worked for and what number she was calling then silence. I finally hung up. What a bunch of pervs.

This call is from a collection agency. The name sounded like "'ee-ahh' CCA." The female voice was polite and courteous. It emphasized that the call contained personal information and that if I am not the person to whom the call is placed I should hang up. If I do not hang up then I am acknowledging that I am the person they are calling. Curiously, the message continues onto my answering machine so they should provide a method - such as pressing a number - to avoid this message being heard by others who may answer my machine. After a three second pause to "clear the area" so the call is not overheard, I am given account information and told that any information obtained is for debt collection purposes. I heard nothing impolite or rude nor can I suggest that the caller is a pervert beyond the idea that one has to have a predatory nature to be in such a business as debt collection, however necessary such a calling is.

These are bottom feeders collecting for Ebay/paypal.
If you are getting calls from the a*holes just block their calls. They are not going to stop if you tell them they have the wrong number, send them them a certified letter, report them to do not call list or report them to your attorney general.
If you have a home phone all you need to do is get a phone with caller id block. Uniden and Panasonic make them now. The uniden I have does not even ring once, just blocks their calls. If they call on your cell and you do not have caller id block, just save them as a contact and set their ringtone to no ring.

They called and want to very my information regarding a business I have, I which have none.

They told me I was in debt to the strip club on Fourth & Halstead. Apparently, I promised one of the performers I would give her a twenty for services to be rendered and instead gave her a ten. With interest and penalties it came to $200 or what's known in the industry as two rub & tugs.

I get this message a couple of times a day.  I call and tell them I am not KELLY JONES and they say my number will be removed, but it doesn't happen.

This company keeps calling my parents house trying to find my boyfriend.  how they got my parents information is beyond me, he never lived there.  they said he used my dad as a reference which he did not.  not sure what they want, but they are causing big problems.

keep getting long messages from 877 263 1126, I am on do not call registry, I recently purchased a home and have new land line, I cannot understand the name of the person they are asking for and I have returned the call asking them to stop calling - no one answered, just a voice mail

I got one of these messages left on my machine.. VERY weird... I kept it... It says  '"hello this is a message for ____________ if you are not_________________please hang up and call _________to remove this phone number from our records.. If you continue to listen to this message you acknowledge that you are ________________________....  THATS JUST the way the message was ... EVERTYING WAS BLANK... Even when it state this is for account number __________and person ___________....It was a BLANK MESSAGE with NO information...not even the phone number.. The only reason I caught it was I happened to be there when it did it and the actual phone number showed up on my caller ID...  VERY strange..  Like it was an information "fishing scam".. . I dont have any idea who they wanted or why they called.  They have not called back and I dont know anything else.. Who they are or anything.. EVERY PIECE OF VITAL INFORMATION in the recording was BLANK...

Got this message and I called back and he said I owed $143 to eBay but I've never bid, sold or bought on that site.  Never bid on any site. He said my identity was stolen and I should go to police station.   What lengths con men will go to!

Got a message from these guys regarding collections. They wanted someone with my name and I was confused because I've been paying all my bills on time and everything. Decided to call them back anyways, and they wanted my address to verify if it was me, but they had a different address than the one I'm at. Then he asked if I had an email with yahoo, which I don't, and he apologized and said they had the wrong person. Then he asked for my phone number again to take off their records so they don't call again. The guy seemed nice and professional.

ok this person has called me at least 4 times in the past hour and its really creepy and he tells me he is looking 4 a person idk and that they have some debts and it sounds like a black man thats high on drugs when he talks

I live in California, these people called one of my best friends, who lives in Michigan asking for me. Which is odd as hell, I dont know how they got his number but thats just weird.

CALLED 09-01-2011 TELLING US OUR COLLEGE AGED SON IS NOT LOCATABLE.   WE IMMEDIATELY GOT SCARED (HE IS 100 MILES AWAY FROM HOME).   THESE GUYS SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS - THEY SCARED THE SH*T OUT OF US (MOM AND DAD).   WHEN PEOPLE START MESSING WITH YOUR KIDS, IT'S TIME TO TAKE ACTION.    PROBABLY AN EBAY FEE IS AT THE HEART OF THESE ANNOYING CALLS.

1: Fascinating how so many "legitimate" collectors can have such reputations for lawbreaking. Collection Company of America is I believe the U.S. front of German junk debt buyer EOS Group. They're known for poor paperwork and illegal practices.

2: A paper trail is vital in these matters. Send everything USPS Certified with return card to best preserve your rights.

3: It's true that collectors cannot be caught talking in detail to the wrong person, but no one is obligated to verify anything a collector asks in a phone call. This tends to set a verbal stalemate, which brings one back to the paper trail. The caller must at least divulge a business name on request, even if skip tracing.

4: The FDCPA does not ban calls on Sundays, but some state laws do. It also makes no mention of any x-contact-per-week maximum.

5: Too many people have signed on to DNC without understanding its terms and limitations.

I found this an interesting read since most of the people are clueless. As a former collector (hated the job) I am going to set the record straight about this company and collections in genera.

1. This company is legit, they are one of the largest collection companies and have a A rating with the BBB (Look it up) so no they aren't a scam
2. The person is misreading the ftc guidelines,  if you are the account holder saying to stop calls does nothing, a written cease and desist letter needs to be sent.
3. If they ask you to verify an address-DO IT, federal law states they have to and the can't give out any info without that. Trust me they wish they could.
4. Collectors can call you every second of every day between 8am-9pm M-Sat if you don't answer. They can only call you twice a week if they get a verifed contact.
5. The no call list only applies to solicitors not collections.

I did get a call from their eBay division last month, the guy was professional and courteous in helping me figure out a family member racked up charges on my account.

I get calls from this number at least once a day, sometimes 3 or 4 times. The only ID listed is 800 SERVICE but they have started leaving a message saying they are EOCCO collection agency trying to collect on an outstanding debt, and if I continue to listen to the message it will be assumed that I am the Carol Borno(?) they are trying to reach and that I will continue to receive  their calls until I call them back. I do not know anybody by that name. She may have had this number before we moved to this area several months ago, or this may just be one of those "phishing" calls. Since I have read the complaints of those who have called back and still get the calls, I have no intention of calling them back.  

We don't ordinarily answer calls from unidentified or unrecognized callers, but in trying to get our disabled son qualified to receive the care he needs before we are too old and incapacitated to care for him ourselves (which is likely to be sooner rather than later) we need to take care not to miss any calls from medical and medicaid representatives. These people are heartless. Surely there must be some way that phone companies could prevent this kind of harrassment, since the No Call registration is apparently useless.

There was a message on my machine last night.  They wanted to find out about the child of a guy I
dated 15 years ago.  The kid is now 18.  I thought it was pretty weird.
