I received a call from this number as well said he was an officer and that I was going to jail for all my debt. I'm only 20. I don't have any freaking debt. I contacted my local police investigations unit. When I called the number back the guy answered and said that he didn't call me.

Not all creditors call people that owe them money, if you do a google search on my number you will found the jerk that owes the money to the creditor. I hope one day you get a number that belonged to someone with bad credit and the creditors call you constantly, adn see how you like it. At least I got the satifaction tonight of demanding the name and address of the collection agency calling me so I could report them to the Attorney General, when I told them why I wanted it they hang up. One good thing that has came out is I decided to googled there phone number and found this space.

I have been getting calls from this number and the guy says his name is officer Jack Austin and he tells me I have a serious legal matter. He can barely speak English and he does not sound like he could have a name like Jack Austin, he has a very heavy Indian accent. Does anyone know who this is??

Chase calling from the number to notify that they did not receive a car loan payment. So if you borrowed money from them it could be a payment reminder. If not then maybe someone used your name to take a loan.

HAD THE SAME CHARGE OF $9.85 BY ACM APPEAR ON MY MASTERCARD. HAVE NO IDEA WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE. I AM CLAIMING FRAUD WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY

A charge of $9.85 showed up on my Visa statement.  The bank (WFB) ultimately credited it but would not divulge name of the merchant.  I googled the number and saw it is a fraud.  Sent complaint letter to WFB CEO reflecting displeasure at bank's unwillingness to tell me things.  I will advise FTC and ?? who??

Charge on my credit card for $9.85 from ACM in CA on 1/28/08.  Just received statement today and contacted card company to cancel card and dispute charge.  Tried to call the number several times and got a weird recording asking to leave a message, but no company identification.  I think this is a possible scam and for sure a fradulent charge.  Have performed search for this company and it does not appear to be legitimate.  Formal complaint filed with Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau.
Victims need to ban together.  This will be a start for us to better uncover these types of scams.  Ask family and friends to submit comments to this page if they have encountered similar experiences.

Charge on my credit card for 9.85 ACM is the company.  Same as the others.  I am disputing with my bank.

I saw a $9.85 charge on my credit card.  Smells like fraud.

After balancing my checkbook, I found this charge for 9.85. Called bank they said to file fraud papers, will do. ACM you will be discovered and shut down!

found this charge on my statement as well calld back and got message as well...--filed fraud report with bank ....I WILL proceed with legal action if its fradulant. Does anyone know what the hell "ACM"  means?????           ATTN:ACM I hope you see this.....

Add me to the list. It was charged to my Chase card on Feb. 12. Chase was great, they refunded the charge and issued me a new card. I was just on CNET and there are 154 posts about this situation. I also posted on 800 NOTES, where there were 30 or 30 posts. Seldom use my card, and I don't carry it, but keep it in the safe. On Feb. 6 I used it to file my taxes at ON-LINE TAXES INC. I used them last year and had no problems. My research leads me to ASSOCIATION FOR COMPUTING MACHINERY, some think-tank for computer science.

Calls and screams this is a debt collector you must call and does not leave a number to call back. My number is on a block list as well.

I got this same postcard in the mail also. I work at bestbuy and after reading this info maybe bestbuy is involved Im going to bring it to work today, and find out.

the lady got on the phone and practically called me a liar and started yelling and was really rude, saying that I could afford to pay but was refusing. She was yelling and wouldn't let me say a word otherwise

I too had a charge on my VISA statement this month.  How are they getting the card numbers?

had a charge of $9.85 on my CC card in May 08.  My removed the charge immediately.  I seem to recall getting hit by the ACM morons about a year ago, at that time the number traced back to a shared/virtual office and the building owner told me that ACM was being investigated.....  appearantly it's not going anywhere.

Found charge of 9.85 on my Visa statement -transaction dated 5/9/08.  I rarely use my visa card so thought it was suspect.  I got the same generic answering machine message (as noted in the previous posts) when i tried to call the #.  I will report it as fraud to my credit card company.  This is rather disturbing.

THis is a scam. If you get a call simply hang up as the real owners of the phone cannot be located. Unless someone files suit against the phone provider
for the number.

Got a charge as well - in May of 2008 - called VISA and they credited me automatically because I'm a good customer. I left three voice messages and no response.  VISA said they're an advertising service company... B.S.!!!

This person called my cell phone at 3am and then at 8am. What?!

Unless the phone company looks into this and they wont, no one will get any rest. Only in America.

This number calls me everyday, and has also been calling my parents every day. Not sure who it is or who they are looking for, but they never leave a message.

This company is Asset Acceptance. It' a debt collector . They are ignoring me telling them that they are calling the wrong number, and hung up as soon as I ask to stop calling.

There was a charge on my credit card from ACM - 877-264-8769 CA  MAIL/PHONE.
When I called the number there is an answering mach but no type of ID, I elected not to leave a message...smells like a scam....
