Per FCC regulations, you do not have to inform the person on the other end of the phone that you are recording the call.  Federal law requires only one person that is actively part of the conversation needs to be aware of the recording.  If that person is you, well, it sucks to be the person not aware of the situation.  Trust me on this... the ex-wife looked like someone had body-slammed her kitten when the judge said, "I'll allow it," and explained the law to her very-confused attorney.  Slam dunk, shattered backboard and all.

Just received call at my house asking for me by name. Wife said caller stated I wa sin violation of state and federal laws and told her to tell me to call this number, extension 34216; of course , I'm not gong to call.

I got a call on my cell phone from this number. No message left. I called back and got an indecipherable outgoing message. I decided to wait on hold. Finally, a woman came on the line. I asked who she was. She said her name was Leah. I said, "No, I want to know the company you're call from. Why did you call me?" She said again that her name was Leah. I asked again for her company. She said again that her name was Leah. I said I was going to hang up. She asked me who I was and what number I was calling from. I asked her what her company was. She said, "Calvary Portfolio." I asked her what her company did. She asked me for my name and phone number. I told her I wasn't giving her such information. She asked me again for my name and phone number. I told her again that I wasn't giving her such information. She tried yet again for my name and phone number. I am ashamed to say it, but I yelled "F*** you" into the phone, and then I hung up.

Someone above opines that this is a collection company. I owe no money to anyone, unless there has been an identity theft I do not know about.

I think it is despicable to get these calls, especially on an emergency-only cell phone with a plan that charges by the minute for calls coming in and going out.

I realize that people like Leah have one of the worst jobs in the world, but I'd rather that people like Leah were on welfare rather than bothering us all day long.

Your life is not everyone else responsibility. I think that the dis-function I see in this room is the same in congress today. One guy talking about how he is learning how to avoid paying his bills and the church is teaching that! Doesn't sound like a church I would accept any instruction from. Who here understands that with the economy in such term oil that it is up to us to show our government how to behave. We are doing a poor job in our leadership we are AMERICANS once happy and proud to pay who we owe! That is what AMERICANS do! We are united we are strong, We rely on God to lead us through sound instruction and we do not blame others for our mistakes. It is ok to ask for help and friendship and then and only then will we be a strong united people. Please don't be discouraged in life and don't fall to a enemy who would see you fail, But rise to victory and be strong and united through your actions. Do something positive say something encouraging. Be a voice that people trust and look up to. Your friend in Jesus. If we live as debt free leaders there will be no one to speak against us. If we have a choice avoid borrowing but rather save, borrowing means you owe and if you owe you are a slave and if you SAVE you are free and a free people truly are an American People.

I have been receiving calls since December 2012 through February from this place, privately and with the 877-266-8810 number.  I call back and ask for the company name and all of a sudden the line goes blank.

Just who IS this? I will not answer, of course. Anyone have info? Can we report on them? Thanx for help.

They called my phone asking for a mark baker. He asked for my name I told him I want to remain anonymise then I told him to remove my number and he asked if there was someone named Mark Baker there was no Mark Baker here he asked if this was a Baker resident I said no he said alright and ended the call. If they call again I will be reporting it to the do not call list.

This number calls on my office phone all the time, leaves no messages - today, they called the front desk of my employer (I have a direct number), and left a message with receptionist saying thier name was Robert, that they've been leaving me messages with no response, and that I need to call them immediately.

Can collectors leave call my employer's main line?

This is obvious a collector calling and by nature they do not leave a message in the hopes that you will call them back.  According to the collection rules they are allowed to call at anytime from 9 am to 8 pm YOUR time. But to harrass and threaten is not allowed and they must immediately identify themselves. If you can record the conversation do it, it is your best defense, but you must tell them that you are recording it. I got a call while I was gone and no message was left. My policy is to never return a call if there is no message left. If it is important enough to them then they will leave a polite message stating who they are and their business. I learned a lot about collectors and the rules from the Financial Peace University classes at my local church.

Which is why the callers are breaking the Federal Debt Collections laws about times, attitutdes, etc., right?  Legitimate my butt.  Another bunch of losers who can't get a real job.

This is a collection company called Calvary Portfolio. They are a legitimate company. A debt that someone has not paid gets sent over to them. They may also call from 1-877-728-3486. They will work out payment arrangements with you.

We've gotten calls from this number a few times during the last 2-3 weeks. We never answer and they never leave a message. I s there anyway to report this number to the propper authorities? What they are doing is considered harrassment especially considering we did not give them our number.

I just had a call from this same number. The guy was asking questions, but when I asked him who/what he was he would ask me why I wanted to know. He did say he was from Calvery Portfolio.

It is 1056 A.M. on Saturday, June 11, 2011.  I just had the EXACT experience.  A woman answered the phone and refused to identify the company. Then she DEMANDED my personal information.  I just hung up.  Who are these people?

Called me last night.

Whats up all, so I called this number from a VOIP phone using a sound board, first time I got a lady, asked them "who r u" in an arnold scwartzanager voice from the soundboard and they hung up. Called back got a diffrent lady, this time I asked who they were again in a D.r Phil voice from the soundboard and then was transferred to some guy, I asked some personal questions recoreded from the dr phil show and got hung up on. At any rate they wont say who they are, but hope all of u getting these calls know that trolls like me grab #'s off this site and mess with em back.

I don't know who the "F**k" these people are, they keep asking for my 80 yr. old father, whose had a "sugar crash", that caused brain damage, &  some Dementia/ Sundowners. Then they want ME to fax them a copy of my P.O.A., but the IDIOTS won't tell me who they are, what their Companies name is, or what it concerns! I asked if they could send me a letter with their Companies Letterhead, so I could check them out, and they reply with the privacy law. So, I told them to send the letter to my father, because I take care of his mail also. I TOLD the REP, that I'm not faxing any information to just anyone that calls, if I don't know them!!! SO, I told him to F**k THEMselves and hung up!!!

The guys name was "Matt Houston" and was ultra evasive, when I asked him where he was calling from he said um, Saint Paul, umm... and I said umm? He then asked me if I was having attitude and I said yeah you called me, and he hung up.

I received two calls from this number in an hour time. I called the number back and some one answered the phone very causually I asked what company this was because this number keeps calling my phone. I refused to give him my number and i told him all i wanted to know is what company this was. he asked me if i was fishing and that this was the wrong creek to be fishing in. I told him then they need to stop calling me and that all i want to know is what company this way. He was very rude and told me this was a personal number for his desk. I asked again what company it was he asked for my name. I told him I wouldn't give it to him just to answer my question. He told me he won't help me without that information. I told him I wanted a supervisor and he told me he was a senior rep. At that piont I disconnected the call because he was very rude and sarcastic.  I still dont know what they want or who they are. Any ideas??
