Immediately delete the shredder none of us ordered. What a scam. They need to be caught these crooks. So how much damage has this software done to our systems?
They withdraw funds from our accounts from 2 different company names.

Wouldn't be singing that tune had it happened to you, Mr. Wizard. It's idiots that MAKE malicious programs like this that are to blame. Don't criticize because you're not part of the calamity. And if you're reading this don't get mad. If you didn't have a similar issue...then why are you reading these posts?
You didn't get scammed

everyone on here, I have one thing to tell ya, you didn't get scammed. Nothing MADE you open your wallet/purse get your CC out and type it in and order it. Only think you had to do was close the window and run a virus scan. If you dont have a AV on your computer then it's your fault for going to a website that is more than likely a adult site. So please stop trying to blame everyone else and blame your self.

Ditto.

I have Norton but the popups were relentless.  I thought it odd that I had to purchase anything from XP...

Visa was immediately contacted.  They are investigating.  I likely will be refunded.

What you should do RIGHT AWAY is to call your bank and notify them that this amount has being charged on your credit card, so VISA or AMERICAN EXPRESS, DINNERS...........will have to give you the money back . But what my bank did was CANCELLED MY CREDIT CARD INMEDIATELY !!!!.

I suppose VISA will go after those son of a bi*** mother f****rs !!!

I was fooled as well with this XPanti virus. Told I've been charged $71.35 from billhlp.com and given a phone number of 201 478-4951 which I did a reverse look up & found it to be no company & a cell phone number!
I have Norton Anti Virus. I feel now that any personal information can be comprimised on our systems due to these con artists!

Definitely ring your bank and reverse your authorisation as soon as humanly possible.

and then rant and rave about the scam to some one.

Well folks might as well include me in the rip off pile.
I too was getting constant pop-ups stating, you have a virus etc. I called this number 1800 467-1077, and waited for 15 minutes with a count down ( you are caller #18 and as soon as a customer service rep is availible your call will be answered). CRAP I waited and waited they told me if I leave a message someone will return my call within 24 hours.

I too kept getting pop-ups saying my computer infected by virus and spyware and to download this software. Logo looked so alike to the windows XP logo so I purchased. Couldnt get it to work. Tried again this morning to download again but the system was saying I've already purchased this software but couldnt get anywhere with this so punched into a Google search and got this site.

Contacted my credit card company and gave them the detail of my transaction and its in their hands now but I have told them that in no way will I pay this entry on my next credit card statement.

They are to investigate.

By the way, I am in the UK and was charged £99.95 (200$ to you US folks) on the invoice which I printed off for my records.

I received a pop-up that I had numerous viruses invading my computer.  I could not get rid of the pop-ups without purchasing the programs.  Got charged for XP antivirus and File Shredder(without confirming) for $69.95.
Thought this was weird afterwards because we already have an antivirus program.  It "fixed" all viruses and I restarted my computer.  I then ran the program that we already have and it found and froze the XP antivirus program.  I did notice that the icon was on my computer, but then disappeared later.  I called the 800 # 3 times, put on hold 3 times, got a message 3 times from what sounded like a real person that I needed the last 8 digits of my credit card # or my email address, the line went dead all 3 times and I have emailed a note threatening to contact Better Business Bureau and get legal action if they did not refund.  I wonder what I'll hear back from them.  Tried to go to their web site-nothing found and I stumbled onto this site.  Doesn't surprise me!!  My husband said to keep an eye on the credit card bill-possibly identity theft!  I am so stupid and gullable-I even work at a bank and deal with this all the time!!  I will call my credit card Co.  and also report this to the gov.  Thanks for all the info!

Got a pop up and needed the virus protection so I decided to download it.  I downloaded the anti-virus and nothing happened.  Nothing downloaded and my computer froze up and I can no longer use it.  This is definatley a SCAM and I would like some kind of recourse for the money I lost.

Also got a popup about XP Antivirus, saying I had a dangerous worm, so downloaded the anti-virus. Of course, it will only "fix" errors, upon download of full antivirus, for which I was charged for $49.95. It erased everything in temporary folders and more and am now missing many things.  Keep getting error messages that certain programs and/or files are missing.  Geez, what a rip-off and dangerous scam!  Will also report to ic3.gov.  Thanks for the info.  Will check back, for recourse, should anyone find one!
