Non stop and annoying! Call comes up as a "Toll Free 800#" but they always hang up when the answering machine comes on.

Get the call all the time all hour, don't know the caller can't understand the name and they won't leave a message

Not sure about the paying for postage, but you are correct about how they solicit donations. My neighbor got suckered once and sent the pamphlets to everyone on our street, and let's face it, many people will donate just to be neighborly.

They call and don't leave a message.  I don't answer calls from an unknown number.

Have received calls almost daily for many months from this and other numbers that display "800 Service" on caller ID.  I never answer; callers never leave messages.  I'm afraid that if I answer, the barrage will only increase.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

No, it's the "Ameican Institue for Cancer Research". A bogus operation. The AICR tries to get people to mail out their brochures for money - you paying the postage, collecting the money from your neighbors and then sending in the contributions back to them at the end of a certain time frame.

They also use 877.275.8236 and 8318

How do you stop these annoying phone calls?  I guess the "Do NOT CALL LIST" does not work..

When I get unavailable/anonymous calls, I just pick up the phone and set it down and let them listen to silence (or family noise).  I don't say hello or anything.  It may not do anything but it lets me feel more like I'm in control. Maybe I took up a little more of their time than they did mine! LOL

Calls month after month!  No message.  Am on Do not call.  Hope they can be stopped.  May 9, 2011

AICR calls from multiple area codes.  If they don't get you from one, they'll try another in a day or two.  This "charity" spends most of its income on telemarketing and salaries and bonuses.

One call or more a week.

I just let the phone ring...usually three times and then it quits. I am not wasting my time answering it.  Any call that comes in as unavailable does not get answered, either. I DO have to be careful of the "out of area" calls. My daughter's number comes in as "out of area" and she lives 3 mi. from me. 1-877-275-6835

Thank you so much. I called 202-328-7744 and requested AICR put my name on their don't call list. I had been getting a couple of calls every day from 877-275-6835 for at least a month or more. I can't understand why AICR would even want to keep doing that, especially since when you answer they don't give any response. How can they expect to get any donatons that way? When I called the 7744 number, they connected me to a pleasant sounding young lady who took down my info and said they would take my name and number off their list. She did ask for my name as well as the number. I don't suppose it was a scheme to get my name.

Called multiple times this month. Sometimes it shows ACRI (American Cancer Research Institute) on ID other times nothing. Fortunately I have a CALLER ID monitor which wipes out whole prefixes or specific numbers. Phone does not ring but it registers in the call log. These devices are great if your constantly being harassed by vendors, politicians, collectors, etc.

Like the above messages I get calls from these people every day and because I have CallWave on my computer(answering service)I don't have to talk to them but...........they never leave a message.  I just wish they would stop calling even though my CallWave intercepts their call and saves me from hanging up on them.

This will continue until some physical damage is done to these people. Our government is of no help and in fact is a great part of the problem.

We have a society where the scum of the earth like these maggots have all the laws protecting them but maybe they will push us too far.

Called back today to have my number removed from the list.  Have to wait at least 30 days but I'll just wait and see. Charities should have to play by the same rules as others about the "do not call" obligation.  That goes for politicians as well.

This is from Charity Navigator's site:  "If you receive a call from a third-party telemarketer on behalf of a charity (rather than the charity itself), then you can ask that firm to stop calling.  If the telemarketing firm calls again soliciting for the same charity, then that firm could face a fine."

These nuisance calls are not coming directly from the charity, but from some hired gun.  Tell them you want to be added to their do not call list and make a note of it.  If they call back after that, you can (and should) report them to the FTC.

Thank you so much for your advice.  I called that number you recommended and the woman was very kind and took my information.  Now I will wait to see how long it takes the calls to stop.  Nothing else had worked.
