They called me and left a voice message claiming to be a collection agency.  Talk about stunned, most people never call back a collection agency anyway!  I've heard there's a cell phone app that does call-blocking, I'll have to check that out.

All of a sudden and out of the blue these buggers have started calling me.  So this evening when they called at 19:52 (Pacific time), I answered my phone with... "Who are you calling, and what do you want?"
I must have caught the caller off guard as no one came on the line to speak to me.  I hope they never call again, but if they do, I will be ready!!!

trg also uses the number 204-818-0126.   I get 3 calls per day for tha last 8 days and I refuse to answer.  I used call display and phoned back to find out who it was. I thought the do-not-call-list was supposed to stop this stupidity.

Yup, yup, yup,,,,that's the best way I've found to get dropped from a call list!  Have sum = fun at their expense.  Go into the details of your hemmoroidectomy last week, your wisdom teeth extraction, your pussed up sty in your eye as soon as they ask "how are you today?"!  Many times they hang up on me and never call back, lol!  I got one of 'em sooooo disgusted after about 5 minutes of venting my personal griefs about politics, religion, culture, workload, etc....she started on her "speech" and I interrupted (again) with "wait a minute,,,,what are you wearing?"....then I heard "click" and went back to work with a big smile on MY face.

I am responding for someone else. But I had a similar thing happen with ted morton, who was running for premeir of alberta.. The prick would phone 2 and 3 times a day with 2 differant numbers, long distance of course.. for months on end.. I returned all calls and gave them s***.. They would hang up and disrespct my privacy and belittle. When I at one point threatened to get ted mortons phone number and phone him at home and disturb him with all my phones.. ted mortons cronnies suggested that that would be against the law and the police would have to get involved.. They will phone the police on me, but I do not have rights to do the same on them.. What a waste of taxpayers money..  vultures parasites scumbags etc... Phone me and and I will guarantee at some point, vulgarity.. I dont want to offend your sensibilities but I have to get you c***suckers off of my phone somehow.. Don't like it don't phone..

This is irritating. When someone is on a poor phone system that costs $0.40 a minute. low income earner. who luckily does not answer to strange numbers.. which is a saving grace... This could get very costly.. I know when I phone and want to give someone s*** I may be on the phone for as much as an hour or more..

I don't know what everyone is so upset about.  I love getting calls from telemarketers!

Since these companies monitor all sorts of stats for their employees (average call times, sales figures, etc), I've decided to have some fun with them.

When I get a call from these people, I make it my mission to keep them on the phone for as long as possible before NOT giving them the sale, or NOT answering their survey questions.

Just keep asking clarifying questions about things.  They will try to answer your questions as best they can.  If they want you to do a survey.....tell them you will answer their questions, but only if you can ask them questions as well.  I once had a telemarketer believing I was almost blind, and he was trying to sell me a newspaper subscription.  He was going to look into whether they offered the paper in big print for me.

There's no need to freak out about these calls, just have fun with them!

Cheers!

Hey just so you are aware. If you are an existing customer of any company they are exempt from the National Do No Call list. So don't get angry if you hear from someone again. You would be exempt from the "cold call" marketing calls.

I'm really insulted with what you said there. I had a friend who used to be a telemarketer just to get by in life. 6 months later, because of rude, thoughtless people like you, he committed suicide.

It's more insulting that you have the galls to call telemarketers the "scum of the earth". You know who are the real scum of the earth? Child molesters. Murderers. Rapists. Not people who just freaking call you.

You know what I do? I answer the phone. I see who it is. If it's something important or something I'm interested in, I continue listening. If it's not, I POLITELY ask them to DNC me. I also have my number on the national DNC to take care of the other calls.

Another thing that bothers me. Everyone expects the national DNC to take care of all the calls. But they don't read the part that exempts things like charities or companies that they are with.

If you get another call after you tell them to put you on a DNC, keep in mind that it usually takes about 30 days to finalize it. If so, ask them again during that time period to put you on the DNC.

JUST. BE. NICE. Going back to my friend, I've heard some really horrible stories about his time at work. People telling him to F-off, people badmouthing and just being abnormally rude.

It's not them that's rude, it's you. You people who want everything done your way. You want everything to come on a silver platter. Let me tell you something. Life does not work that way.

As the person who originally made this point said, they work until the late hours of the night. Way later than some of you people do. I personally feel sorry for them, having to deal with the crud that you people dish out.

That's all I can say right now. I'm done.

You telemarketers, along with all the debt collectors, use practices that are far less than legal and you know it. I got a call after putting myself on their do not call list 5 days ago, not to mention they have called TWICE in the past 30 minutes before writing this review.

Everyone, these people are the scum of the Earth. I have more respect for Occupy protesters who crap on cop cars than I do for these kinds of company's who call you two or three times a day and keep asking you the same question. It is not bordering on harassment any longer, it IS harassment as laid out by state and federal laws on the matter.

I should also add to the person who made this original post...most people leave their office and actually do manual labor of some kind during the day. The heaviest thing you lift is your coffee cup that probably says"Lets Harass today!" So your comment about the individual who has complained about the phone calls when they are sleeping has a valid point and once he tells you not to call at that time, you cannot call him at that time anymore. if I were him, and while I cannot give legal advise, I would speak to an attorney about this matter.

Don't just DEAL with the phone calls everyone, stand up for yourself. If we stand up for ourselves, I promise these company's that keep doing these unethical and at times illegal things will stop. it is not a bad thing to contact an attorney and tell then you have been called by these people multiple times a day for days or even weeks on end without being taken off their list when you requested to be taken off. Like I said, I requested it about 5 days ago, much more than 72 hours. Stand up for your right, contact an attorney if you feel it is appropriate to do so, and contact your state's A.G. and let them know about this as well. The more people who complain, the more likely something will get done about it.

Hi, I work for the company in question. I may have even called a couple of you. Im here to make a few points, some of which i wish i could say to my customers (i cant, obviously).

*ahem*

1) This is my job. This is how i, and the rest of the 40 some odd people on my team, make money. Some people have been working under the company for over a decade (the company has undergone several name changes, but its the same), and work there because they are retired, or lack the education, or because in this economy its the only place hiring in the city with decent wages ($11/h starting), and said money is needed to get a better education so i dont have to put up with you people every day.

2) I dont like calling you. I dont want to but i do. Something even more so that i dont want to do is Rebuttal. Now, for the uneducated, a rebuttal with when you say "No" (or tell me where to shove it, or tell me to die, ect), i have to respond to that and try to convince you otherwise, especially if you cut us off right away. Now, we HAVE to do it. Twice.

ITS IN MY JOB DESCRIPTION.

I have almost been fired (and i know many who have) because they dont rebuttal, or only rebuttal once.

3) If you ignore the call, because its an automatic dialer, its going to presume your not home, and call you back the next day anyways. As well, dont lie and say we call 100 times a day. Its probably someone else. We are CRTC compliant (google it if you dont know what CRTC is), and we can only call 10 times per list.

4) Each list lasts 2 months. End of story.

5) If you pick up and say right away "Not interested" its a callback for tomorrow. Why? because we dont know whether it was the customer we're looking for or not.

6) ,This is VERY Important, There are Three (3) Magic words that, if used in the correct order, magically stop all calls. Those words are "Do Not Call". Simply say that, and we have to stop rebutting, say a DNC script, and youll be taken off the list. Now it can take 30 days to be taken off all lists upon saying this, so please be patient. We legally have to do so, again, CRTC compliant.

7) Please dont answer your phone while having sex, sitting on the toilet, or in the bath/shower. I get this at least a couple times a month, its very disturbing.

8)  Zedd is calling from Ontario, we call until 12am eastern time. CRTC allows us to call until 9pm in each of the time zones. So, BC, when your complaining that you are in bed trying to sleep at 8:30pm pst (i get that 10+ times between 11pm-12am),  We are up working til 12am while you get to sleep. Enough said.

9) Its an outbound call only, we are not equipped to receive incoming

10) This is through RBC Insurance. Not RBC Branch. If you go into your branch and ask why you are getting called, they will look at you as if you're growing an arm out of your head. While this is all under RBC Financial Group, only RBC Insurance deals with Telesales. Call them, their number is on there website.

11) I need sales. Goal for the program im in is 4-6 a day. While that may not seem like a lot, it is very very difficult. While i do make an hourly rate of $11/h, i also get bonus for sales. Also, i get to keep my job. Apparently the whole purpose behind telemarketing is to get sales. Not getting sales gets write ups, which, if sales are not achieved, results in termination, which results in me being kicked out of my house, me losing funding for school, and creates a whole mess of trouble.

12) Lastly, the 2 programs we offer, the spiels take 2 minutes to go through (3 with rebuttals, 5 if you take it), yes its all scripted, but thats because its insurance. If you do agree to take it, we just confirm the spelling of your Name, Address, and Date of Birth (DoB), and one program asks if your a smoker, thats it. We transfer you over to a verifier who confirms everything (asks the same few questions) to ensure you are enrolling. the verifiers are Licensed Insurance Agents (LIA's). As im not licensed to actually sell insurance, my job is to essentially make sure the info is correct, then the LIA's make the actual transaction.

2 side notes to that last point
-We dont have your DoB, we ask it to ensure that you are you, and not some fraud. if the Dob is Incorrect, once RBC receives the list of those who have enrolled, if the DoB doesnt match, its cancelled to avoid fraud.
-One program has a money back guarantee option, and one has it at no cost for the first month (rbc actually pays the first month). So take a chance, take a look at the certificate of insurance, we do send you one. It has all the information on it.  wether you keep it or lose it is your choice later.

Thats it for now, if you have any questions, ill be on here periodically to check any responses, hate mail, and/or questions you may have (ill answer the questions)

Thanks for your time, and have a good day.

Hi Aaron,
You mentioned the  "right to be not disturbed on my cellphone". Have you given RBC a landline as a contact number? Do you even have a landline? The ONLY reason a call centre would call your cell is if is was listed as your main/only contact number or, in some cases, if a helpful person at your home gave the cell # to the caller and said that's the only/best way to get you.

As has been mentioned several times, you can request to 'be taken off the calling list' or 'put on the do not call list' and the calls will stop.  Please be as calm and polite as possible. These people are just doing their jobs to keep a roof over their respective heads.  Would you all rather they be on Ontario Works and sucking up tax payer money or working and paying taxes?

As for the autodialer, it works like this: Agent is ready, Autodialer calls 3 numbers, 1 number picks up and that agent gets call, if more than 1 number picks up it is routed to the next available agent. This can take a moment. I normally say 'Hello?' three times (pausing in between) and then 'Goodbye' if no one has picked up yet. Even that may be too long, but it gives the technology a chance to connect me to a live agent.

Come to the call center its in North Bay, Ontario. You wont make it into the building. Second these businesses contact Zedd to market on their behalf, most people that work there are only there because life isnt free and Zedd hires tons of people as telemarketing is a bad job and no one stays in it for long. Ask to be put on the Do Not Call list politely and listen to their DNC script it explains how long it will take and the number you can call to be removed from all other marketing campaigns with that company. Zedd can call you even if you're on the NDNC because you've had past business with the company they represent. Be polite to telemarkers they are only trying to do their job and if you answer the phone and swear and scream they probably wont put you on the do not call list but rather that you arent interested which wont stop the calls.

So I called this number back, after I've received about 50 calls in the last 15 days.
The first time, I got a fax noise.
The second time, I got an automated message saying " Your voice mailbox is full, please clean it.  Thank you."

No prompts to remove my number off a list.

Received my wake up call today at 9:08 am from these a***oles, number is also on the NDCL, I will report them to the authorities, but then again knowing the Canadian government, nothing will be done. So i guess I will take matters in my own hand and visit their call center to straighten them out.
