I don't know if it is legal, but someone left the address of this bottom-feeder law firm above.
Write them a Cease and Desist letter with a confirmation of receipt.  From other sites I have read, this firm has a very BAD reputation and has been investigated by the NY Attorney General's office.

BY LAW they are supposed to stop calling your job or your home if you instruct them to stop calling.  If they want to contact you, they can contact you via mail.  If they keep calling you against your instructions, you have rights.  Check with your Attorney General office for the details.

Personally, I ignore the bums.  I deal only with creditors directly.  These firms never say WHO they are representing, so I don't take their calls and I don't call back.  They try to sound menacing and threatening, but I don't care.  I know my rights.  They can't throw you into jail and they don't want to waste their time in court when the judge will probably throw it out from lack of evidence or you weren't served properly or it's an old debt.

If you know a lawyer or a debt advise organization, you can give them a call if you are concerned.

Me?  If they got a case against me, bring it to court!!!  I'll get it thrown out AND they will own me money.

I received a message  from this number that was left on my job answer machine, It was stating I was being sued and what county court I was being sued at as well as the case number. They said I should call or have my attorney call. Is this legal for them to leave a detailed message for everyone to hear at my place of work?

I got a nasty VM from this office.  And it was actually for my Sister In-laws husband.  I have no idea how they got us.  We have had the same Phone# for 7 yrs, and we dont even have the same last name.
I called and left a message for them to remove me from their contacts IMMEDIATELY!

I work in Legal Compliance which audits FDCPA and what they are doing is illegal. If they call me again, I will be filing a formal complaint.

Same thing.  A BS collection agency saying it's the law office of Vincent Signorelli (or however they spell it) and its a "VERY important matter". The one time I did call back (from a land line as they are calling my cell) I got to a lady who wouldn't give me any information at all about herself, her company, or why they were calling me.  She just kept saying that I knew what the "this was about and I need to deal with it or will be sued in civil court". I laughed and hung up.  Now they call from a unidentified number but leave the same recorded messages.  Do***ebags

I firmly believe this is a real agency. I am also paying my payday loan off and getting this off my back. I learned my lesson to never take out another payday loan. I talked to 3 really nice people and they worked with me to set up a day to get it paid. I had a court summons to appear in court but I am settling this out of the court and will be done with it. I really would not listen to those who post in here about the negativity. Sometimes in life we have to take out like a payday loan, in my situation I did it for a family member who then backout and couldn't pay me. My paycheck barely pay the bills, but they are giving me ample time to pay it in full and it will be done with. I do not want my name posted so I don't get frustrated people here coming back to me.

This is not a phony number the 877 number. If you ever had a payday loan or another bill in collection out they are a collection company who work with the court to settle the debt outside of court. I know because I am working with this company to settle my debt and not go to court. I will be so glad to have this matter done with and done with. I got myself over my head and will never take another one of these loans out.

Debt Collector
I received a message from these scare tactic collectors today...on my 6 month old " pay as you go cell phone" . I don't know  how they got my number. They left some jumbled message claiming to be a sheriff named Eric something and he worked for the  District Attorney office somewhere and I had several legal cases against me and I was going to jail if I did not call back immediately .

I was scared for a second as my heart raced and I was traumatized until I realized there is NO WAY this was legitimate. I called back and spoke to a rude ghetto sounding guy that would give me no info and just kept pushing for my name...I declined and told them they are a collection agency that is just threatening people and hung up.

I filed a complaint with the FTC five minutes later.

I paid them because I knew I owed the money. I'm trying to clean up all of my debts. Paying debt collectors seems like a pretty good way to do that. I haven't been screwed over by a debt collector yet. How do I know they are illegal debt collectors? By reading your millions of posts here? There is no way to tell if you OR Cignarele are trustworthy. I guess I'm just trying to do the right thing.

Tell me more about their illegal practices and how to protect myself if they do screw me over.

Why would you pay an ILLEGAL debt collector anything?

All you did was give them money - they will RESELL the debt to another agency as UNPAID and it will start all over again.

The posters are stating they are being "CHARGED with FRAUD" which is a CRIMINAL matter

Debt collection is a CIVIL matter and I never said they could not BE SUED - I said they could not be charged WITH FRAUD. That falsely claiming they have committed a crime and THAT IS ILLEGAL!

Per your posting - the Original Creditor  SUED her and does not apply to 3rd party debt collectors!

But CIGNARLE is A FRAUD and cannot file lawsuits because they are NOT LICENSED!

Sorry...I just wanted to clear something up. You can be summoned to court over a civil matter. That's what being sued is. It's true that debt is not a criminal charge. No one has gone to jail in this country for not paying their debts since the Civil War.

However, you CAN be sued for your debts. And your presence will be requested in court. If you don't show, you won't go to jail or have a warrant out or anything. Again, it's not criminal charges.

But if you don't show up, or if you lose a civil case, a judge can legally have your wages garnished. Or even your checking account.

The FTC has an awesome Q&A that cleared up a lot of my misunderstandings
.http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm

My sister was sued by her credit card company. It was legit. But when she went in, she was able to settle for less than her original debt. She still had to pay hefty lawyer and court fees though. No fun.

But I just wanted to let you know that civil cases can either be settled in OR out of court. But you will NEVER go to jail for not paying debts. Don't let anyone tell you that you are a criminal.

Debt Collector
Vincent P. Cignarale LLC
250 Delaware Ave Suite 33
Buffalo, NY 14202

He's apparently a criminal lawyer who also handles debt collection. They seem to buy up a lot of payday loans. I have also seen him listed at an address in Depew, NY. But the Buffalo address is what they sent me. Here's my story with these people.

I've been trying to clear up my debt the past year or two. This debt did NOT appear on my credit report. It is however, a legitimate one.

This firm by far has the creepiest ways to find you. I never received any mail or phone contact directly. Instead, they somehow tracked down my in-laws. I have never resided in my in-laws' home or used their phone number for anything. I never even met my husband until two years after I took out the stupid payday loan. I have no idea how they found that number. They must have looked up my marriage records and investigated my husband. EXTREMELY SHADY, but apparently not illegal.

They are allowed to contact third parties only to locate you. This company seems to find who they are looking for by embarrassing them. They are not allowed to discuss your debt with anyone but you, your spouse or your lawyer. They did not discuss my debt with my in laws. (thank god, because I am very embarrassed about it)

Once I got up the nerve to call them back (I felt very intimidated by them) the woman handling my debt was really, really nice. I think it helped that I was nice to her, too. Mrs. Clark was her name. She was able to settle with me for fifty cents on the dollar. I was amazed she would go as low as fifty per cent. She was kind and patient. She answered all of my questions and concerns. She emailed me written proof of the debt at my request. She even told me a little bit about how she had personally been sued by Capital One and when she got into this business, she did so with intentions of working with people to keep them from being sued. She said that it is waaaay more expensive to go to court.

This firm will acquire your debt usually after it goes through a few debt collection agencies. This is a lawyer who can bring a judgment against you. If that happens, you'll have a hearing in your own county. You'll be able to plea your case, and if your story is legit, you could win. But if you lose, the fees will be heavy.

I am personally pretty happy that I didn't let their intimidating location tactics get to me. Because I was able to settle and paying $350 was waaaaaay better than paying $700 or more.

My experience does not seem to match up with a lot of posts on this forum. I may have been very lucky to have the nicest collections agent in the world. I have no experience with anyone at this firm except Mrs. Clark. But I can vouch for her in terms of manners and willingness to negotiate a settlement.

Also, when I have read other posts about people saying nice things about collection agencies, I assumed that it was a fake story posted by someone who works for the agency. I swear I am a real person, with real debt. And this really did just happen today. I wanted to post here to let people know that it doesn't have to be scary to call Cignarale back. They seem very willing to negotiate.

Thank you :) This is the first time this has happened to me, I'm 24 years old and was terrified when they threatened me with a felony charge of "maliscious intent to de fraud a banking institution." I said "How do you know I had intent to do anything?" and the lady was acting all nice "You don't have to explain anything to me, I'm here to help you settle this!" and I fell for it.. First and last time I'll make that mistake. Now I have to go through the hassle of having no debit card until the new one arrives, and having to change all my automatic bill pays and stuff... laaaaame.

They BROKE THE LAW when they told you that they were pressing charges. Debt is a CIVIL matter and its ILLEGAL to threaten you with Arrest of accuse you of comitting a crime.   But this is in a KNOWN illegal debt collector

NO ONE CAN CALL AND DEMAND PAY NOW OR ELSE!  ITS ILLEGAL TO DO SO!

It usually means they cannot PROVE you owe any money at all.

They are required by LAW to validate the debt in writiing and allow you to DISPUTE it as well as tell you HOW to dispute it.

Received a phone call from an unknown number where "Ms Harris" stated that charges were being filed against me and to call back. When I called back, they said they would either accept payment by the end of the month or file a court summons with felony charges, regarding a 500$ payday loan from cashnetusa.com. I foolishly gave her my card information and THEN searched the phone number and found this. I immediately went to the bank and ordered a new card. Do NOT give your card information over the phone, they wouldn't work with me on payments or time, so I felt I had no choice, as they scared me into thinking charges were being filed. I am an unemployed full-time student, and do not need this harassment right now while trying to better my situation. Add it to my horrible credit if you want, but don't threaten me with false court claims. HARASSMENT.

This is harassment, especially since her number is an unlisted number, and I have never lived at her address!
