Debt Collector
It must elude collectors that if I had the money to pay them I would. Regardless I have sent my cease and desist letter, and I continue to get phone calls. So I contacted chris on 855.672.1988 and told him what was going on. He told me that I may have a case for harassment and he would put me in contact with a lawyer. Chris said in the mean time he will get them to stop calling me. I was surprised to find out that the help was free. If your getting harassed, you should call him too.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Received the same message on my voicemail, they are going to serve me at home AND work tomorrow if I don't call back. I called 1-877-293-7900 and was asked the claim number..I gave it. when she asked for my name I said "you tell me, you have the claim number", she told me she was not going to play guessing games and for me to call back when I was mature enough to have an adult conversation. I hung up and she called me back within two minutes. She identified herself as Mrs. Fitpatrick, with Anthony Barnes and Associates. She said there were several claims against me, but needed the last four digits of my SS number before she could give me any info. When I refused, she warned that I would be served tomorrow.  I'm not sure what the scam is..

I got a call on Monday & they left a message for my sister about a pending claim against her. They advise to call them back along with the claim #. so i called them yesterday & they refuse to give any details. Just today my sis called me saying that she was being charged for an unpaid loan of $500 backed in 2008 & now owes $3,000 & I was also charged for a payday loan fraud of $507 on a closed account. I called the bank & found out that they don`t do any pay day loans & the minimum of a loan is $2500. These charges are all a scam!

My sis got a call from them saying that I owe money, she gave me the number and so I called them, this black chick insisted I pay atleast $100 today, I kept telling her I don't have any money, in which I didn't, I was on the phone with her for an hour, and she kept repeating herself, because I was freaking the f*** out. Then she put me on hold too long, so I'd hung up, then she called me back from a private number which was real weird and very awkward, but yet I'd answered, Long story short, I googled this number and here i am posting a message IT IS A SCAM! I even called my sister because the black chick said that she is too is being served. My sis called the bank for me, and come to find out, my bank doesn't give out pay day loans or whatsoever.

Same thing happened to me yesterday.  I've been freaking out checking my federal taxes, property taxes to see if I owed something I didn't know.  That's how I stumbled across this page and thanks to you guys for posting this or I would still be waiting for judgement day.  She didn't block her number the second time on my phone so I have a name and number.

This company has been calling my home for weeks now looking for my ex husband of whom I have not seen or heard from in over 20 years! I have told them over and over and over I have no clue where he is because I left the state when I divorced him. Oh guy even knew we where divorced because on the first phone call I could remember the year right away and he was the one who told ME what year it was. I told him then he must know there was no children from the marriage so there for no reason to stay in contact. 3 phone calls today and I called them back and told them fine to send a server to my home and could see for them self he is not here. When I said this the guy started laughing and I ask him what was so funny, he stated he loved making people mad because then they would tell the truth out of anger. Told truth was at this point I will be writing down time and dates off all calls as well and taking photos of my Caller ID so I would have proof of phone harassment. One thing to be getting calls for some you owe yourself but to be getting calls for someone you have not seen or heard from in over 20 years is insane!!!

I got my first call yesterday from a private number and they left a message " You are notified papers were put on my desk today and I will be out to serve you on Thursday April 12 at your residence unless I hear from you, call 877-293-7900 with case number blah blah YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED" So I call the number and I am told that I owe Money and More(this company closed years ago) for a payday loan from 2008 and I closed my BOA account before the payment could be taken out, so went on to tell me you need to take care of it now or I will be served Thursday and end up owing over $3000 and have fraud on my record. I laughed cause I knew it was a scam as soon as she said I closed my BOA account funny I still have my BOA account and have only had that account for many many years, Even funnier Im self employed I cant take out payday loans if I wanted to hello I dont get pay checks . So I told her "I'll be waiting for you Thursday April 12,2012 " and hung up. Today another woman called from a local number I again laughed and told her "come serve me Im waiting" and hung up and then called the number right back and got a message that this number has not been assigned yet? hmmmm getting tricky now are we. So I call the 877-293-7900 back and started questioning them and told them they call was being recored. I was told "You dont have the right to record me" Then was told to look then up on IRS.GOV. You type in Anthony Barnes and Assoc. in the IRS search and all that comes up is publications for nonbank trustees which this companys name is not even listed in the list of approved nonbank trustees and as my understanding from reading what a nonbank trustee is this company doesn't meet that. So all and all this is a huge scam. I called my local courts nothing with my name any where. called the local pd and reported it, and was told its the new scam.

We just received the same message but it was concerning my wife. I spent an hour on the phone with them yesterday. This is a scam. They were saying that they have a judgment and are serving papers through the county magistrates to have us served for court. We called the magistrate and there are no such papers against my wife. Someone needs to file complaints against these people  and you never know who these people are!!

Received several calls over the last 2 days saying my mom owed something (wouldn't say what) I finally stopped answering and they left a voicemail with this number. 1-877-293-7900 to call back. If they didn't hear from us/her they would be coming Monday to serve papers with her address ssn on it. Anyway, called the number back and the lady answered Anthony Barnes and Associates. Mom asked her to repeat herself because she was writing it down and she hung up. Guess we'll see if they show up :)
