I received several calls from these guys..
When I called back to find out what these guys wanted,
I was told that I had an old credit card bill that I never paid.
When I looked into it, it turns out that they were right (oops!).
I was able to settle my account for half the amount owing.

this firm is now harrassing my family. they are using a phone number that I've had for the past 30 years...they won't stop calling my daughter's family who lives on the other side of the state. these people should know that we are not going to respond to them, so why do they bother?

Same company calling again, can't get the company name from them, only the office number to call.  The callers are probably phishing blindly for people to give them personal information and confessions on active, overdue accounts, then they offer to buy your real debts from the actual companies you owe and are overdue on.  For every such account they go after, they make far more profit than is owed in fees and penalties.  They try to make it seem that because you called them, you are doing business with them.

FBI and police do not accept reports for this type of call.  BBB might give them an unfavorable rating if they get thousands of bad reports.  The only place to really report them is donotcall.gov, where the number of reports will eventually get high enough for the feds to file charges against the company.

Repeating Scam Caller: Graham Mitchell left voice messages for someone who is not at my number. Asked them to stop calling me and remove my number from their call list.  Still getting calls 90 days later.  Reporting to donotcall.gov every call.

Upon my research, I verified you are on point.

They are a 'layered' company, hiding the true intention of deby collection.

Ironic part - I don't have any debts through anyone but the Fed for school loans... what a laugh!!

Cite the "Fair Debt Collection Act" and tell them to 'kick rocks' figuratively speaking.

Should the caller continue to harrass you, they are in violation of several statutues, which may result in you suing them and getting some $$$.

Look into it.

I have received a call from this number at my work number which I never give out to anyone. It is a recording and they have threatened me, if I dont answer them they will take further action. What is the matter with these people? Dont they know the laws of harassment. If I continue to receive these calls, I will report it to the BBB and FBI and the police.

Received a voicemail from them. I DO have a Cap1 card that I need to pay on, so no surprise there. But the guy was talking so fast I don't know how to spell his last name (Mr. Nish? Neesh? Nische??) and I can't make out the extension he left. I tried like four different extensions I thought he might've said, but it keeps telling me they're all unavailable and I can't get a live person on the line. This bothers me, as I've been waiting to see if they'll call back but they haven't. I don't want to get in trouble for not trying to set up payments or something, but they're being very difficult to contact.

I have been getting messages just as Imat above as described. Caller claims that some unpaid financial obligation has been brought to his attention , that I have not been cooperative in resolving this matter and I may be on my last chance to voluntarily resolve the problem.
1. He assumes that some "alleged debt" is actually owed to another party. Throughout US history, the Supreme Court has told banks they can loan their own money, but not credit. Such an act is "ultra vires" -- beyond the scope of a bank's corporate power. Therefore, credit card contracts are illegal at the time of signing. Futhermore, in the case of Jerome Daly vs First National Bank of Montgomery, MN (December 7, 1968) Justice Martin V Mahoney ruled that the federal reserve system is unconstitutional. He stopped a bank foreclosure because the bank invented its money out of thin air on its books. A contract requires both parties fair consideration and equal risk.
2. Caller never states what company he represents or how he is obligated to collect some alleged debt. Caller has never mailed me anything; I have no contract to pay him -- even if you think I owe the debt to another.
3. There is no mini-Miranda warning "This is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose". He can not sue unless he is a lawyer. Shame on these callers !!

At work, I just received a threatening recorded message phone call, saying that I better hold on to speak to someone-- about a debt.  But I'm not in debt.  No name or company name is given, but a very hostile threatening male voice says this is my last chance, that they've contacted before.  This is some kind of con.

Received a call per hour from someone at this number calling himself Ray Mitchell and saying a matter had 'just been sent to his office' after 'numerous attempts to resolve this matter that remains pending at this time' and saying that after our 'continual non-compliance' this would be our 'final opportunity for voluntary resolution'.  No company or subject was ever mentioned.  Told to call back immediately to 877-295-9644.  We have a Capital One credit card with a zero balance -- nothing due.  Never had dealings with Rogers Cable.  Never heard of Global Corporation.  VERY irritating.

Yep I have saved the 9 different messages this RAY Mitchell has called me threating me daily. Again he is added to my reject file so all I get is his voice mails.   I GUESS this guy will have to cross his t and dot his i.  Because I will not be calling him back....He never says who he is calling for or acknowledges his company or the reason he is calling he just threatens with his stern voice which does not threaten me at all..LOL!  They have several numbers.   I have a good credit with Capital one so he should not be calling me

I am currently being harassed by this number as well. They are calling a former partner of mine every single day and stating that I used his name as a "reference" which I never did. They want me to confirm personal information, which I refuse to do, I threaten them with the Fair Debt Collection Act and they ignore my comments. Then they call me through the means of a number showing up on my cell phone as 416. I also stated that they are violating Federal Law by calling a cell phone, which is costing me money. Besides suing them in Federal Court, which I am considering. Is there any other means to make them stop harassing me and my former partner?

They are a debt collector for Capital One.  This company feels they are above the law and they can call when ever, where ever, and whom ever they want as often as they wish, the feel they can speak to the customer in any fashion they deem fit.  I have been threatened with Jail, they have told me to prostitute myself as well as steal to get their money. I have reported them to the BBB and The Attorney Generals Office.

caller states that if I do not call (877) 295-9644 before 4 pm EST tomorrow, that they will be forced to further action.  very threatening tone of voice. no caller ID available, no mention of company or of what the problem may be.  one internet search reveals the number to be assigned to Rogers Cable Communications, Inc; other people state it is a debt collector - Global Corporation - for Capital One credit card company.  I do not do business with either...
