Recieved a voicemail from 972 215-7900 asking me to call to set up a job interview, but not leaving any information about the company. This was the call back number they gave me, but I did not call it.

I just got a call from an unknown number and on my voicemail it stated, "Opportunity of a lifetime to schedule a interview during the week." It did not say the companies name nor did I ever get through to anyone. Only thing where this can be coming from is careerbuilder.com, I just uploaded my Resume a couple of days ago and now I am receiving a call from this unknown number.

SOUNDS LIKE A BILL COLLECTOR WITH A SCAM. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CALL ME FROM 972 #s ARE FROM CAPITAL ONE AUTO FINANCE. MAYBE THEY WANT TO TRICK ME INTO SHOWING UP FOR A JOB AND TAKE MY CAR OR SOMETHING.
BE CAREFUL!

Hi I'm also in the same situation been looking for a job over a year now...Also watch out for the college scam. You apply ofr a position in my case Operations Mgr, they call you back and all they try to do is convince to go back to school and is hard to get away from them as they have all your contact info.. Now days you don;t know who has access to your resumes, I don;t use my home address but a PO Box and my phone is not listed and my e-mail address is not from a service supplier (cable co, At&T, etc) so It can't be traced back to me.

I am on the national do not call list and they still called my number. How can I stop the scammers?
They of course asked me to call them back at 1-877-297-0490 and  set up a job interview this week.
Ya, right...

Me too. I had not made any changes to my email address still I received calls from BOTH the same numbers as everyone else.(1-877-297-0490) and (972-215-7900) They were received 1 minute apart from each other last evening. 10/11/10.

Today I went to Google and read all of the responses and I am adding my name to the unfortunate scammed victims. I did find out that the name of the company was United of America. Then I took the white pages directory and it had the 972 area code as being for Dallas Tx. However, after reading some more about them they were listed as being closer to Irving Tx.I don't know how many job offers I have gotten for work in the insurance industry. I used to ignore them but then I started to reply to them letting the management know that I had absolitely no desire to sell insurance, and I was of the belief that if someone wanted to purchase insurance products they would seek the seller out themselves.

I agree, waste of time!  I think it's pretty pathetic when you have to google a phone number just to find out what company they are calling from.  They need to be put out of business.  If it is Monster, Indeed or careerbuilder, they need to stop!  I need to find a job, not a scam!  Very sad!

We got a call for this number.  No branches in our area.  I dialed a zip code in California, they gave me Reno, NV.  I was supposed to leave a number, but did not want to give them any more info.  I think it is a scam.  Sad that people feel they have to be so horrible to scam others.

Thanks for all of the info., my experience was the same as all the previous. However, I have no clue where they may have gotten my information due to the fact I have set up so many accounts. Temp. agencies, careerbuilders, indeed.com, etc...

Posting this message and filing a complaint per the advice of some other post. If you have by chance given information out, you may want to place a fraud alert on your credit files.

A recorded message call from 972-215-7900 said that my online resume was a good match and they were hiring in my area (company name not given-RED FLAG!) and to call back 1-877-297-0490.  I live in the Phoenix area and had also just finished posting my resume (public) the night before, but not with Monster, with CareerBuilder.  This is most definitely not a legit opportunity, especially since it is an 877 number.  Though I don't know that Monster and others are actually "selling out" your resume info as one person stated - when you make your resume "public" any company (real or fake) can parse information from it, like name and phone # and then spam call you for insurance jobs, sales & marketing, truck driving, etc. even though you are far from having these qualifications or interests-they don't actually read the content of your resume, they just add your name & number to their scam-o-matic databases.  I think I will be switching my resume view from "public" to "private."  Maybe I am missing out on being an instant millionaire or hollywood movie star, but it's a chance I'll have to take!  Damn scammers!  Leave us honest folk alone!

I got a call a couple days after updating my CareerBuilder and Monster.com resumes. On my caller ID I was given the number 972-215-7900 (Dallas), and was told in my voicemail message to call 877-297-0490 to schedule an interview. I won't be calling.

Got the call tonight from (972) 215-7900 asking me to call {877) 297-0490 to set up an interview. Did not call. The problem is that this is most likely a third party company hired to find employees for these other insurance companies. So the company gets the money for referrals which they scavenge off of job websites, but the insurance companies themselves are not involved in this so they can not be charged.

I just got a call like that today as well.  I've been looking for a job for almost a year now and I just updated my profile on Careerbuilder.com.  My hubby told me that I had a message on the voicemail and I checked it later that evening.  An automated message totally sent red flags for me.  It sux that I have to check every business and every number for a prospective job opportunity.  I also want to nail every damn insurance company that says that I sent them an e-mail with my resume.  I didn't I don't like insurance or sales, so why do they even bother.  Thanks guys for all the hard work you've put into this.  I know I WILL NOT BE CALLING.  I'm tired of wasting my time on this crap.

Thanks for the posts!  I just got this call to my cell voicemail too.  Also in Oregon.  I've been on Monster & Career Builder for over a year, but hadn't received calls like this before.  It might be due to a Craigslist posting I sent a resume to (minimal post, but that's often legit) and received a confirmed scam email requesting more information.  I didn't reply to that email, but they already had my contact info from my resume.  Glad I have ID Theft protection!  Rotten tricks, but we have to take chances to find work.  I reported the email and will report this 877 number to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  Easy reporting: hotline@fcc.gov (no forms to fill out that way, just send an email and stick to the who, what, when, why, how).  Please report, let's do our best to get rid of these low lives!
