Contact your congressman regarding passing legislation that blocks debt collectors from calling from private #'s.  That's what most debt collectors use when contacting a debtor.  And some debt collectors do not use their real name.  Whenever you get a private call and it's a debt collector and they harass you, ask to speak to a supervisor.  If they say NO, then hang up.  Then call again and demand to speak to a supervisor.  Even though they may use fake names, get all the info on the collector, the supervisor and the company.  Some collectors say that they are employees working for a private company, but that is a big lie.  They work for the collection company that is trying to reach you.  And some collectors will also say that they have a summons for you.  That is also false.  Only a sheriff or constable can deliver a summons.  
Contact your congressman to pass legislation that prohibits debt collectors from using *67, which blocks the number from being shown.  
Also contact the Federal Trade Commission at www.FTC.gov.

Don't ever give any information regarding your credit cards to a debt collector.  Ask them to verify the debt first.  They must do so by Federal Law.  If they refuse, hang up on them.  Debt collectors can't really do much but scare the hell out of you.  They don't care if you can't pay your bills due to loss of a job or a major accident.  They just want their money.  If they keep calling and you have already told them to stop, then send them a certified letter with return receipt that you want them to stop.  They must sign a green card that it returned to you.  After you receive that card, they can no longer contact you.  Don't be afraid of these crooks.  
Go to www.ftc.gov and check under Consumer Protection.  The law is called The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

Signature Management Solutions is now officially out of business.  I received a call from a Caroline Foster from a private locating service.  She said she had a summons to give me regarding a bad check, but she refused to provide me with proof by email, mail, or fax.  She threaten jail, used vulgar language, and even called my work and threaten to arrest the Human Resource Manager if she didn't give me the message.  Private calls should be made illegal in this country.  All cell phone carriers should carry the service to block private calls.  I reported Signature Management Solutions to the FBI, Federal Trade Commission, Attorney General of Texas, and the Better Business Bureau.  I finally got their address from a rookie who worked there because everyone I spoke to refused to give it to me.

I received a call from my grandad stating I needed to hurry and call these people who called him stating I was being charged with "breach of contract" and "fraudulent use of a check" and if I didn't contact 877-816-0571 today I would be served. So I contacted the ppl spoke to a Brittany at extension 305 who wanted me to pay 100 right then and there to avoid me from having to go to court. I told her I am currently unemployed and didn't have the money right now. She then transferred me to a man who proceeded to speak in a "legal" tone and tried to scare me into giving him my info in order to pay him. I told him I didn't recall this payday loan and he proceeded to tell me I owed 435.00 and in would triple in court if I didn't stop the summons today. I asked for my account number with the loan company and he said he didn't have that info. I asked for the check number and amount as to which the "bad check" was wrote for and he didn't have that info either. By this time I knew something wasn't right. I told him I was willing to pay, just needed their address because I wanted to know who I was paying and considering I had never heard of them before I thought it was necessary. The guy acted like he didn't want to give it to me but eventually did P.O. box 742 amherst ny 14221... So I asked for his name "john Washington" told him i'd call him back when I came up with the money. I immediately looked up the phone number I had called and found nothing. I looked up their name "Santa Fe management" and found nothing. Looked up their address... Brought me to a NY Youth Softball website with an umpire by the name Jim Craig and that was his listed address. Needless to say I was advised by my attorney to tell them to F*** off and if they really are legitimate... Send me the bill. Surprisingly I am still receiving calls and as of 5mins ago the same guy keeps calling this time his name is John Powers and he will be here personally in 24hrs to serve me... Lol I told my husband it will cost him the amount of the loan just to get from NY to TN. These ppl are sad sad sad excuses.

Got an automated voice message "This is a courtesy call for suspicious activity on your account" this number is not my bank. Hung up on 'em. SCAM

FYI:  I have seen some complaints about people getting calls from scam artists saying that they have a summons to give you to appear in court.  Whenever anyone gets a call regarding a summons, ask the person on the phone if they are a sheriff or constable.  If they say no, then the summons is fake.  Only a sheriff or constable can deliver a summons for you to appear in court.  Ask the person on the phone for their address so that you can send them a cease letter.  If they hang up on u, keep a record of the phone number and report it to the attorney general and better business bureau and possibly the FBI.  Call the number back and insist on speaking to a supervisor.  If they refuse, make a note and keep the attorney general, BBB, and FBI up-to-date on the status.  And never give out your bank information to anyone on the phone if they cannot produce a written document to mail you or fax you.

You really need to use a dictionary Sam.  A lot of english wording errors.

well took out a pay day loan and never paid it back new i owed the bill and closed my bank acct that i put on file to get it also took it out through check and go ....they gave me the money  had no problem barrowing it i owed new evently some would try to collect it very professional people to deal with once you can get some one on the line never had a problem paying something i owed...........just forgot about it took the stupid thing out and owed 1200 dollars !!!!!!!!!! never do that again never felt mistreated though just glad it wasnt the forgien guy who tried to collect it for the first 2 months it went unpaid you want to talk about harrasment!!!!!!!!!!! i was able to pay my bill.get off my back glad they helped me get rid of it!! look in the mirror sir??????????????????

Got am "unknown" call on my cell phone  which I ignored, and then a call here at office, from a Mr. Wiliam Ellington, saying he had a "formal complaint against you" that he had just received from "one of our largest clients to attach all your assets"  and saying "I've left you several messages and maybe you do not understand". What a SCAM--then telling me if I don't call him back right away there will be nothing he can do and it would "serve me best to call; and ask for mercy". Filing a complaint today.

They have a new scam. They just left a message regarding 'fraudulent use of my account' and that I should call them to talk to 'my agent'. They repeated it numerous times. That message I'll save and turn it over to the authorities.

oh yes they called again and this time Mr. Wellington called and left this long and harrasing phone message,on my personal cell phone, he even called my sister whom i never listed as a reference on anything i owe. I dont know who SMS thinks they are trying to scare but its for sure  not me. I know my rights and you sir have VIOLATED all aspects of it . I left him a message on his voicemail at extension 320 and so did my sister. Im ready for the next time he calls if he do. Im tired of stressing and worrying about a bill that is due.
