After reading other posts,I realize this charge is legit from Harris Connect. I updated alumni information and ordered a directory for my college. The charge listed as HC*ManhattanDir with this phone number. They charge when you order the directory, but I remember them telling me on the phone that the directories will not be printed until September (from a late March order).

This is Harris Connect. They develop publications nationally. I recently received my copy of a directory for my fraternity, but it is riddled with errors. for the price you pay to get this hard copy, it should really be much better.

I had the same question about a charge on my credit card, and I could find no receipt.

But then I remembered that it was from a high school year book I had purched on the phone

Attempted research on name identified on bank statement as:
HC*NASSAU COMM DIR  877-3043777
Unable to trace this phone number in any venue. After much search
realized that it refers to Nassau Community College, and I finally
remembered way back when that I was solicited for an alumni directory
list on a CD. So it was OK...but their ID leaves much to be desired!

I have Power of Attorney for an individual, was reconciling two bank statements, and a charge for $49.19 appeared on each.  Called bank, and was given the 877-304-3777 as it was difficult to make out the name of the company on statement.  Well, I think I got to the bottom of it.  This gentleman was solicited from his college, for a directory.  I know his caretaker assisted him in responding to the soliciation he received from his "college" and it appears that the debit card from his bank account was used.  I will be following up during weekday business hours to ensure this is what happened.  Reading another person's account about a directory, put me on this track and part of the words in the statement contain the name of the college.  I definitely am following up to ensure this isn't a scam of sorts, will call the college, which is Providence College for anyone's information.

I think HC*ASSN THE US DIR  is a scam but I can not prove it,.They got me to sign up for a Naavy Directory with a chaarge of $119.56 with telling me that the Navy was developing a Directory and they would send me a request for my picture and a short note as to my career in the US Navy. Well I never got the request and when I called today I was told I was paid up for the Dictory that will be published the later parat of this year. If you have any infor on this company please send it to me Cha1gg2@gmail.com DThanks

People have no idea what they are talking about on here.  I called the number, got through in about 5 minutes.  It is a legit company.  they process high school and college alumni registries.  If you got charged, you probably got a phone call and ordered the alumni registry book.  The were able to tell me when I ordered, what school I ordered from, and when it will be shipped.
The only thing they look guilty of is having a bad compny name.

This site jogged my memory, also.  I received letters from my college asking me to call and update my info to the college in an effort to update a directory.  I complied and thought I was talking directly to the college staff. Learned, late in the conversation, that I was speaking to a representative of a company which compiled the data for the university in an effort to sell books or CDs of the data to the caller.  As a percentage goes to the college, and I have several long lost friends, I bought the minimum option.  Thus, their number showed up on my credit card.  Hopes this information helps some of you remember that you may have spoken to a similar marketer.

This was my experience too.  Turns out when my son called into update his information after graduating HS they sold him a directory of all the graduating HS student for 52.30.  It was legit because they had all his current address info and said he called on Oct 1 and the charge showed the same date.

Aye, same issue..
62.50 charged to my debit card, i've never done buisness with them, nor did i graduate from high school or college so this is hard to imagine being a 'mix-up'.. looks like someone phishes the card numbers and holder info before charging people.. This nearly leveled my account...  On hold for 11 minutes, trust me i'm calling back this evening, or I'm having my lawyer call them.

Charge appeared on my credit card. After looking at the comments here I remembered what it was.  My college alumni association is selling CDs to raise funds.  Tried to sell me a hundred dollar package but I settled for for a simpler one for 30 bucks.  But this site did help me remember what the charge was for.

I was charged $79.94 on my credit card for a transaction I did not make. When I called the credit card company, while I was on the phone, they dialed that phone number since it appeared on the bill. The response was that it was Harris Connect that does alumni books, et al. They said the charge was in error. I told the woman that four people on the internet had also complained of charges in error through that number. Something a little fishy going on?
