be VERY careful when you speak with the. all they need to CLAIM you authorized them to change your yellow pages advertising - and charge you HUNDREDS of dollars - is your name and a YES. "Is this joe schmoe?" "Yes." "we are just calling regarding your advertising in the yellowbook." at this point a lot of people once again say "Yes?" to prompt more information. then they go on with some bogus script but they have you saying yes to advertising in the yellowbook. i usually answer "This is joe schmoe" and then something like "what kind of advertising" or just say "we don't advertise in yellowbook."

I received a bill in the mail from an anesthesia group for services rendered at a hospital (it named the hospital I used). I did have these procedures done, but I knew this bill was bogus!! I talked to every department involved in my treatment and they all have no knowledge of this bill. The bill said I owed $2,730 and said their was a PROMPT PAY DISCOUNT OF 30%. Payment of $1,911 remitted within 28 days would satisfy the bill. The company address info at top page was:
BASEPOINTE-AN
3225 North Star Circle
Lousiville, TN. 37777
Funny the Anesthesia group had the same address listed?? And I live in FL. Sooo??? Anyways, someone messed up and my personal info got into the wrong hands, and now I'm pissed!!!! It was already a very emotional medical situation and now people are trying to scam me with it!!!! grrrr!!
Hope this helps you make the right decision about this number!!

When this call is answered, there is no one there and it sounds like a blank line. No dial tone...nothing. My boss says we have gotten several calls from this number. This type of call is taking valuable time out of my busy day in servicing our clients.
ABC 2013-08-14 14:42:23 Unknown
The first thing the caller said is that the call may be recorded. She then asked if we'd received our Yellow Book. Fortunately I had this page pulled up (thanks, everyone!), so I asked her to please remove our number from their calling list. She apologized for the inconvenience and said they would do so.

Two calls and messages left on phone today so far, certainly harrassment.
Anonymous 2013-05-20 17:42:17 Telemarketer
I received two separate calls from this number today. The second one said "This is Rebecca Mason. This call is being recorded for quality and training purposes [or something very similar to that]". Since that last sentence was also stated in the first call, which I thought was a "robocall" [ie., dialed out by a robot who shifted me over to a human after I had answered, I had reached down to the speaker button on the phone and missed the first part of the message--but I believe it was the one and only "Rebecca Mason" as well].
Since I don't accept ANY calls where they inform me that they will or may record or eavesdrop on the call, I told the first one, "No you won't!" and hung up. The second one, I just hung up without the courtesy of my saying anything.
I eventually called the number back from another line, and I was told by a recorded message there that the harassing calls were to see if I had received the YP yellow page phone book, and did I want any additional copies.

Yes, it is Yellow Book. They call and verify if you received the book or not, BECAUSE, the people that deliver the books, are getting paid by how many books that they deliver. Some of those people just put those books anywhere (as in I work on the second floor of my building, NOBODY else is on the floor, and sometimes they leave the books in front of empty offices). They just called for the SECOND time in about 5 minutes, and said NOTHING.

Same number called again ... to my cell phone, at 1:47 p.m., CDT. Again, no message. I'm tempted to call back and tell them to take me off the list, but that response has gotten mixed reviews. It may just confirm my number is legit. We're fish in a freaking barrel. GAH!

A call came into my cell phone from this number at 1:09 p.m., CDT. Left no message. But seriously, calling my cell phone? I wish iPhone allowed a "number block" app. I promise you, I'd use it for numbers like this.

877-307-8442 - they call and attempt to record you saying that you did receive your yellow-whatever... which is an attempt to verify fraudulently that you've advertised with them, thus substantiating your future BILL from them. Read on: http://www.spamlaws.com/yellow-pages-scam.html

They just verify that you receive the Yellow book so they can confirm the delivery person did their job. If they didn't, they will fire the delivery person. It just a ransom call to check so the delivery person not take advantage their money. Sometime, they dump in recycle and receive the money, that is stealing. So that why they call. If you don't like to receive any calls or to lazy to pick up the phone, tell them that you don't want yellow pages anymore. Good grief to people who is lazy or complain

I couldn't tell if this was a recording or not but it ws concerning recent delivery of the Yellow Page phone directory and to confirm my receipt of the book, it asked for my first name. I gave them my real first name and it sounded as though my name was being recorded. I am hopin this is legit and not some way they use my name to confirm that I bought something. Hey, you never know.
USE A FICTICIOUS NAME WHEN VERIFYING THAT YOU RECEIVED THE DARN BOOK.
Too many scams out there to not be cautious.

This is the most annoying caller. This number calls 5, 6, 7 and sometimes 10 times a day to our office. Never leaves a message but just keeps calling. Our system is automated so there is no live person to ask them to stop calling. I tried calling the number several times to ask them to stop calling and continually get a busy signal. Very disruptive and completely unsolicited. If this is the Yellow Pages as another poster stated they should get a clue and mail or email something to get their message across instead of calling ALL DAY LONG disrupting business. We don't even use Yellow Pages. And if I see one now I will definitely shred.

Yes I got my Yellowbook and immediately threw it in the trash (after briefly looking to see if my business was listed - it wasn't). These independent phone books are full of errors and old (disconnected) numbers. Only the local phone company books are as accurate as can be.
I now reject any and all calls from toll-free numbers. My system blocks my phone from even ringing if it is from one of these numbers (it just rings and rings and rings on their end, no answer at all). Calls from toll-free numbers are ALL telemarketers of some sort.
And anyway, my business phone is unlisted now. Sure gets rid of most of the telemarketers. Business phones cannot be put on the DNC list, only consumer numbers. This should change but there is some legal reason why they can't.
Unlist your business number IF it will not affect business to any great extent.

Got a call today from this number. Asked if we received our yellow book which we did a few days ago if thats what you want to call it. Found a bag with two of these useless books dropped by our back door. Straight into the dumpster they go ever time. Seems like they bring this crap by what is it every two months or something ? If I ever see who is dropping these off I'm gonna tell them to pick up this trash and take it back ! Theres this great new way to get information these days its called the INTERNET. Not from some stupid a** 10 pound 1982 yellow pages phone book. We don't even use the real yellow from Verizon either. Thats another pet peeve I have too, freaking Verizon, don't even get me started about them and all their stupid confusing sevices, plans and contracts designed to "simplify" my life.
Have a nice day !

This was a call from "YellowBook" or AT&T as it's really know by. They called to ask if we received our new directory, which we did receive 1 (needed 4) and they are send out 3 more. It was just a courtesy call, which was appreciated and allowed me to request additional.
The only complaint, is since these people want to sell us caller ID services, you would think that they would proudly dispay AT&T Directory Service on the caller ID, instead of Toll Free Call and the number. It you have the appearance of "SPAM or SCAM Calls, you are going to be thought of as such.
Why not be professional with your caller ID?

This is the Yellow Book Directory and they are verifying that their delivery people actually delivered the new Yellow books. They are not selling anything. I did in fact get my yellow book a few days ago
Froggy 2012-03-07 18:06:47 Unknown
Ok, so I got the book, for what good it is. There is a number of a pharmacy that closed 20 years ago still showing up in it. Pretty useless book.

Thanks for this post! I appreciate the information.
The woman who called was very nice & friendly. She called me "honey"!

I received a call from this number, caller-id said "yellowbook". I answered (for a change). Seems legit. Woman was nice and asked a question about her puppy (wife has a pet-sitting business). She called me "honey"! Doesn't get any nicer.
Anyway, she had to end the call because she was only allowed to talk to each person she called for 23 seconds.
