They are not allowed to contact you before they send out a notice to you, they know they got the wrong person but they don't care people pay these small debts to get them to go away.  I would contact Telus and asked them why they forwarded your info to them, don't provide them with anything tell them that you are not the person and if they continue report them.  If you go to the BC web site and complete a form that tells them not to contact you keep a copy and report them if they continue.  don't waste you time with the Ministry of Consumers Service in Ontario they are useless and won't do anything.

I agree the one that called me from there has they decided to sue me but now they are thinking twice about it because their statement of claim is completely false and they know they can't prove anything in court so I'm waiting them out the lawyer I spoke to told me that there is no way that  they will follow through since they don't have any proof.  I don't know if you have ever heard of the draft statement of claims well they are not allowed to send them out but now what the collection agencies are doing is they are having lawyers send out actually claims that they file with the courts they don't care if you owe the money they do it hoping that you won't file a statement of defence and they win by default there are a lot of people who don't owe money that are stuck this way.  Its legal and they get away with it, General Credit Services doesn't get paid if they don't collect so they have nothing to lose.   Eddie Petrossian works for them he is a scammer was charged with Fraud and paid a $30,000 fine. He was also suspended by the Investment Dealers Association and the Fired by Edward Jones. These are the type of people that are hired by General Credit Services he hasn't learned anything he calls and says he is a lawyer and getting ready to sue.  If they call tell them to sue you and if they do file a statement of defence and wait for them to go away, they will as long as you file a statement of defence they can't do anything because they know they have no proof.  Also if they call you after they file a court case tell them to hit it you are in court now and you are not speaking with them.

Shut UP, you must be working there.  If they were calling for a family member how do you tell someone that has nothing to do with it to spend within your limits and pay your bills on time, otherwise they go to collections.  This company is corrupt they have someone that calls from there claiming to be a lawyer and he has been in trouble himself and in debt.  There are many people that work for these places that have their accounts in collection.  Before you start giving advice, SHUT UP.

I too have received calls from this number.  Always an automated voice and when you try and call them back, nobody answers or the number is "out of service".

I receive phone calls from this company constantly. I have never had any thing in collection. If I stay on the line with them, they transfer me and hang up. When I call back, they hang up. I say this is a phoney company and it's really starting to piss me off.

Shut UP, why should people pay for something they don't owe just because people like you can't get a real job and need to work for companies like this.  Debt collectors are bottom feeders they can't get real jobs and are stupid and uneducated.  They are scammers and I would guess most have criminal records.

You don't have to prove nothing there is a statute of limitations and you are well past it, tell them if they call you again you will report them to the Ministry of Consumer Services.  If you want to know what sort of info they have on your send them a letter under PIPEDA (Personal INformation Protection and Electronic Documents).  You have a right to request everything they have on you under your name, copies of all documents this company is bad they break all the rules regarding collections here in Ontario.  They are rude and scammers.  I was able to get some tips on dealing with this company by reading the book "The Wolf at the Door" by Mark Silverthorn.  I was able to get info from them through PIPEDA that proves what I already knew is that they have nothing on me and no proof that I even owed the money.  They also provided me with transcripts where they confirmed some of the very rude comments they made about me.  I suggest everyone does this and never admit to owing the money, asked for proof and if you can record all calls they hate this.

Okay. So most of you are over-dramatic drama queens. Learn Canadian law, first of all. RCMP do nothing; These are debt collectors. You did something, f****d up, and they want their money. Just pay it and stop bitching.

I've gotten many calls on my cell phone, and it's very annoying to me especially since I'm in grade 10, and they call me when I'm in school asking for some Jonathan person and they're speaking in a middle eastern accent, then to a recording of what sounds like arabian language. I'm going to talk to my service provider to see if they can block this number. I will try *60 after I hang up if they call me again before i block the number. They've called me about six times in the past week.

Called my place of business from a Quebec-based phone # (514-905-4950) at 8:50pm and left a garbled message that was primarily in French and just enough English to state "Take advantage of this great offer now by calling 1-877-313-4274" .. If it is a Collection Agency then it's certainly fraudulent and misleading. Definitely sounds like a scam.

I received a call from this number today. They left a voicemail but it was just a really loud automated voice saying only part of a word, like it had been cut off at the end of the message or something. That's all I could hear. I don't have any current debts. I called the number back from a blocked number out of curiosity and it sounds like the collections agency - the menu options were in French first. I do not know or how they got my number as it's blocked... want this to stop!

Statute Of Limitations every province has a different time limit for Ontario it is 2yrs besides NO ONE has the right to be calling you about old debts! IF it was a truly legit debt you would had been taking to court before the Statute Of Limitations time was up.

Sadly, some of us made mistakes financially in our youth and are still being chased by those demons today, no matter how hard we try to "be responsible and pay our bills" but thanks for throwing stones from your glass house.

I receive daily calls from this number, anonymous and entirely automated, in french (I live in Quebec, so that sounds normal), for someone who does not live here. I had the same number for almost 10 years now. The robot just says to call back the 1-877-313-4274 number poste 1, and that it is not a sales or telemarketing call. Sounds like a complete scam.

We have recived a call from 1-877-313-4274, the person, a woman, who left the message sounded in distress. We returned the call and spoke to a man that was rude and obnoxiuous, he refused to identify his company or its purpose. They should be compelled to purge their phone list

moi aussi un appel, avec une voix québécoise qui m,assure que c'est n'est pas un appel de télé marketing ou de vente et de rappeler pendant les heures normales de travail, du lundi au vendredi!  La 2ième voix qui donne le nom de la personne à qui est destiné l'appel n'a pas prononcé mon nom correctement, et avait un accent étranger très prononcé.  Je n'avais pas répondu, et ils ont laissé un mesage!   Belle tentative de hameçonnage, encore une fois!

I being receive that call for a few day now and i never answer, I now one thing they dont give up when it time to do so. All my bill are up to date. I have no idee what they realy want  with me exept maybe there wasting more money just to get money for people that treated me like s*** and monster some years ago. Today all my credit card and bill are 100% to date because those compagny treat me with respect and are responsable with me and i to them, I dont dill idiot and stupid harasser and stuff am not responsable for.
