Anybody getting calls from this phone number?

I got a call from them. I said hello about 3 times, noone answered. Then I dialed that number, and I reached some automatic message from some company (EMS I think) saying it's calling on behalf of the Royal Bank. Why the **** would they not answer when I pick up the phone?? Why call then??

Like many phone spammers, it's an automated dialer that calls about five times as many numbers as the humans can actually take.

When a line picks up, a light goes on in the Telemarketers' room to tell someone to connect to that line.  If they are all busy, you get the situation you experienced.

Probably for the etter.  It's just your bank trying to convince you to switch account types or to buy insurance or...

This is a U.S. origin phone number.  Since WHEN did the Royal Bank of Canada start phone calls from there?  Don't be naive!

Like Amber, when I called the number they said it's EMS call centre hired by the Royal Bank about their cellular pay-and-talk plan.  Just another company trying to rip Canadians off when it comes to cell phone service.

We tell them we are not interested and to take us off their call list but they don't. I thought there some sort of law/regulation that allowed poeple to request the telemarketer to take thier name off their call list.

Thx. for all of your comments. I phoned the number back and got it removed from RBC's list. This was an annoying call as it was coming to my phone multiple times every day, but I did not pick up as I did not recognize the no.

Says they are RBC selling 'discount' long distance phone plans.  Calls me 2-3 times a day for the past week and leaves no message.  Finally answered the phone and found out who it was. If you call back, you'll get a recording.

It is the Royal BAnk selling long distance plans. CAll the number back and wait until the message is done then you can put in your phone number to have it removed from their list

Said they were from Royal Bank and selling a long distance package. Didn't know banks were in the phone business.
