I applied and got approved from Newbrook, was sent the contract, which I signed due to it look legitimate and sent it back and then I received a call from William Johnson ext 412 stating to use 877-344-5712 instead of 877-334-5710 due to phone maintance.  I sent the down pymt via Green Dot and recv'd a call from Michael M ext 224 stating he is now handling the acct.  I was informed that I would receive my money the next morning and to call and let him or William that the money was there.  Guess what, it wasn't..I recv'd a call from Michael and was told that I needed to send the 1000.00 insurance money so the broker would release the money.  I explained that I was unable to do so and then when I asked for my money back, he stated it was non refundable because the money was already on hold for me and that if I didn't send in the additional funds I would go into default status.  I am wanting to try to get these people for fraud but I do not know how to do so..Can anyone help..

Justin, this is the second number that they had.  They had called me to tell me that their IT people are fixing the problem and that this is the temporary number.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  I just got scammed for $1800.  Thank you for doing your other research and I hope these people will definitely get caught and you'll be able to help those who have been scammed like me.

I am willing to help anyone out who fell victim to these people.  Here is how I got involved, I applied for a loan at one of these internet sites, a few days later, my phone rings and the caller ID reads, "Unknown Caller".  I answer and I get greeted by Mike McMillan of Newbrook Loans Broker.  He says I am approved for a loan of $5,000 if I put $877 down.  He also mentioned he checked my credit, I have an account with freecreditreport.com, he never did check my credit, that raised the first red flag.  I told him to go ahead and fax me the contract, which consisted of five pages for me.  The address on the contract reads, "970 Plainfield St.  Providence, RI 02909".  I did a Google map search and street view of this address, as it may look like a small bank could be from around there, this raised a caution flag for me.  My biggest red flag was the website.  Their website is currently www.newbrooklb.com.  First of all, this looks like a default template and look like the site was made in under three hours.  I did a WhoIS search with this site, http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp.  I got this result:

Domain servers in listed order:
   ns3011.hostgator.com
   ns3012.hostgator.com

The domain, meaning the web address, was created not more then two months ago and the registered owner resides in Canada.  The second major red flag is, I check Rhode Island Department of Business Regulations at, http://www.dbr.ri.gov/divisions/banking_securities/banks.php.  This company is not registered with them, which every legitimate financial institution in Rhode Island is.  Again, if you would like my help in an investigation, let me know, I still have these guys calling me and I am pretending like I am going to give them money just to see what more I can get out of them.

Did you get a phone call saying you are approved for a loan but need to pay first? Do not pay them until you read these two threads:
