This number is a part of Careers Inc, which is a verification service
for employers for hundreds of different job boards. I'm a
representative of Careers and would like to clarify why you're getting
a text from us on this number.

We receive a large quantity of resumes for thousands of positions
across the country, and our job is to verify that your contact
information is correct. Employers use Careers because they get such a
massive response to job postings. It's very hard for any company to
sort through interested applicants - people are not reachable, their
phone numbers are disconnected, or their email is invalid or typo'd on
their resume. This leads to frustration on both ends, where applicants
receive no response and employers get bad contact info for an
otherwise qualified individual.

Careers attempts to contact applicants to confirm that their
information is correct - if it is not, then we help them to correct it
and update the employer on the applicant's status.

We do not ask for any sensitive information such as SSN. We do not
charge for our service. We will never ask you for anything beyond
confirming what's already in your resume on file.

I called them back. Almost immediately, the representative started asking me why I didn't go to college after high school. After he verified my home address, email, and phone number, he started pitching me a "free" service with people who could help with financial aid, etc. I asked if I could call back and he told me it was a one time offer. Sounds like a complete SCAM to me. He even acted offended after I declined. I never even applied to the "Railway Worker" position they said it was for. I dont even have the experience to apply for that job! It's a SCAM if you ask me.

I followed up from a text message, took 5 minutes. no biggie.  In a world of such high unemployment, companies have to use different avenues to bring in potential employers.

Returned their call, wont tell me the name of the company I had applied to so I can verify their information to see that I applied. Said they wanted to "pre-screen" for the position and it could take 5-45 minutes...I said I would call them back when I had the time....

I received a text today saying to call them about a copywriting position i applied for.  Not sure if it's legitimate or not, or why they wouldn't just email since that's how i originally applied.
