You're a jerk.  Not everyone who gets these calls are in debt!  When you call back with your number blocked, it says this number is invalid.

Debt Collector
I was call back in November 2012 by Tim Janko from Turning Point Resolution, about a bill I had with a Visa credit card. Where I was told that if I paid $3,006.95 I would not be required to repay any of the remaining balance. Now they are calling me again after a year and few months, threatening a law suit and jail if I don't pay them more. Tim Janko was very rude telling my I should be paying my bills, and that if I didn't pay this one I would be going to jail. I went to the bank where they checked the authenticity of the call and they agree to pay the $3,006.95. So why am I again being bug by this company again. They told me this was a pay off on that credit card and now they are trying to get more money out of me.

The company called me on my work phone from a phone number that was spoofed 503-890-7021. It was a prerecorded message that said that my tax return was at risk and that I needed to call 1-866-750-4733. I called the phone number back and got a lady who immediately asked for my social security number. I would not give it to her and she asked if **** was my name. I said yes and she asked me again for my social security number and I refused to give it to her. She said that she was calling because i bounced a check 7 years ago and that there was a lawsuit pending against me. I asked her what county the lawsuit was filed in and she said in Portland County. I told her Portland was not a county. She then said that it wouldn't be information that she would know but that it had been filed. She said that if I refused to give her my social security number that she would send an officer to my place of employment. I immediately hung up the phone with her and called the Multnomah County Courthouse and asked them if there were any pending cases against me and I was told no and the guy over the phone said that it was probably someone trying to scam me. I called US Bank and asked them if I ever bounced a check and the gal asked for my social security number. I gave it to her and she said that she didn't see anything and that records are only retained for 7 years and that she wished she could of given me more information.

I called Turning Point Solutions back and spoke with a gentleman named Vincent Raphael, Director of Compliance and provided him my address so he can send me a validation letter of this alleged debt.

They are butt scratching scumbags

File a complaint with the BBB, your State Attorney General and the FTC. Let them know, the companies are 'one and the same'.  These people have no right to harass and abuse the people who owe the bill, let alone their family, friends, neighbors, and people who don't even know the debtor. Let's put a stop to these criminals.

Debt Collector
Current number:  888-294-4740.

Several messages left prior to 2-24-12 by these people claiming they would file court action in my county.  I ignored all their previous calls/messages.  (They even contacted my husband.)

For some reason on 2-24-12 I answered their call.  Spoke with a Colin Montgomery, was then transfered to a Mr. Walker, who identified himself as an attorney liason, who provide an amount owed which he so graciously (sarcasm implied) informed me included the principal balance, interest and late fees.  Was then transfered to another gentleman, who I believe was a Chris Morrow.  I requested documentation of the account be sent to me.  They refused to mail; but said they would fax or email.  I indicated that I couldn't continue the call because I was at work and they then began with the additional threats of contacting my employer, etc. and stating that they couldn't call me after 5:00 because they were already closed then. Aww so sad (sarcasm again)...i hung up.

Shortly thereafter, I received an email that stated their office had given me sufficient time to satisfy the above mentioned account and that this was their final notice and they would accept the balance paid in full [signed by Chris Morrow Director of Operations]. I responded to the email and requested validation of the debt.

Ironically, today I received another letter stating the same information of sufficient time signed by Chris Morrow with another attachment titled Affidavit and assignment.  This Affidavit of Assignment is supposed to look like the documentation between the Original Creditor and the Collection Agency.  It is notarized and signed by Chris Morrow; however, there is no signature of the Original Creditor **AND MOST IMPORTANTLY is dated TODAY!! 2-27-12!  It has my name, some bogus account number, last four digits of SSN and amount due which is accruing 18% interest.

I requested validation of the debt, and no where did they provide that.  I have sent another email request stating:  I am requesting VALIDATION of this debt; I am NOT requesting
"verification" or proof of my mailing address.  I respectfully request
that your office provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal
obligation to pay you.

Please provide me with the following:

* What the money you say I owe is for;
* Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe;
* Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you
say I owe;
* Identify the original creditor;
* Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state; and
* Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent.

If your offices are able to provide the proper documentation as requested,
I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information.

Lets see if they are so quick to respond with bogus information this time!

they called me yesterday from these phone numbers:  888-294-2790 and 888-294-4740.  They threatened to have an affidavit of fraud and would take legal action if i did not agree to settle a claim by 7PM (EST)of the same day.  They didn't want to send me any written/paper evidence of said claim and they had to be asked several times to provide the actual name of the company (they kept mumbling 3 letters, which sounded different each time they said it).  They called my husband at work and tried to use information from my credit report to thrick him into providing even more personal information. They threatened to sue him, as well, and said they would make sure he was served his summons at work, so he'd be embarrassed infront of his employers and co-workers.  I finally got a name & address (Turning Point Resolutions, aka Prism Resolutions, aka, Eclipse Resolutions, AKA Tri-finance and AKA Monarch, at 210 John Glenn Dr, Amherst, NY 14228, and PO Box 632, Getzville, NY 14068).  They started out saying I owed $23,743.  Offered my husband a settlement amount of $8,000+ on Thrusday and offered me $2,374 (10%) on Friday...if I charged it immediately to one of my other credit cards. Told them,"Make me documentation and I am intitled to 30 days to review said documents and to consult an attorney about the legitimacy of your claims and the legality of your threats."  Time will tell, but my research into this company (under all names) has indicated a very unscrupulous scam operation that is a collection agency in the ruse of a "pre litigation service".  Also, there are so many complaints and even the NY Attorney General's office has slammed them under most alias's and has a special site to report them:www.NYDebtHelp.com, as well as the ftc.

I am getting the same calls. They have even called my daughter threatening her that she will go to jail if she don't give them all her information including her social security number to assist them in getting in touch with me  then called my mom saying basically the same thing. I called them and told them I needed a fax number and physical address. MATT RYAN put me on hold to get the information. He didn't even know it. He also came back to the phone saying he was TIM JANCO. The fax number they gave me was a regular line to another business. They also said I would be going to jail today for theft and fraud which meant I was facing felony charges with significant jail time. I told them not to call me back my attorney would be in touch with them and within 15 minutes they had called back 2 times.

First off no one has the right to speak to people the way these individuals do. It is not professional! Second they can never provide any sort of legitamate documentation in regards to the "allegations/claims" they are making. They tell you they have been trying to contact you via registered mail for a long time. I had lived at the same address for 6 years. Never got a letter, post card, nothing. And when I asked to see the records I was told they needed to put something together and email it to me. I could have made this one page document in 10 minutes. It took them 4 days. I was told it was on my credit report. It wasn't and has never been. I contacted the real legitamate companies that I allegedly owe the money to. They had no record of me owing anything or in collection. And had never heard of Turning Point Resolutions. I could keep going.
Point being...shut your mouth and know what your talking about before you accuse people of things. I PAY MY BILLS, I HAVE EXCELLENT CREDIT.

Sorry but these people called me about a debt that I didnt owe and didnt even have the right social security number or address for me. And the account they were talking about was paid to a REAL collection agency back in 2007. I have my receipt from it and the collection agency that was legit cuz it was the same one that my traffic tickets were at, which I paid at the same time as the small bank account issue. These people are not legit, and I told them to give me the info so that I could take my xinlaws to court for using my name to create debt and she got very quiet and tried to say that it had nothing to do with me, and I told her that if it didnt have anything to do with me that then why had she called me and told me that they were taking me to court over a bank account overdraft that I paid back in 2007. It was a scam to get my address and any other info from me. They are a fraud. Sad to say it, but they are.

I dont know. If I was to write a bad check, and someone threatened me that i could go to jail, I guess I would get scared and pay. I know people who have gone to jail for writing bad checks. I still dont see how anyone can sue for "damages". Damages for what? Aaron just posted a very good point. I meant to reply to his post but he says it all. My daughters a bill collector here in New York. She has told me that they give these people every chance in the world to pay their bills. Still comes home crying because of the terrible names they call her, like "scumbag". What if this were your daughter. Clearly the fact that your on here shows you too  or someone close to you has debt. The economy is terrible, she cant find any other job that allows her to work around her school schedule. She knows she has to pay her bills so she works and takes this abuse from the people she is trying to help! I know several other young people in that business. Scumbags they are NOT!

I have had a bad time, and had a discover card. the card was cancelled because i could not pay it off, the balance I charged was over $2k the balance I was being called about well over 3. I thought it was fraud at 1st but they did seem to have my cred card info and all the info on my credit report was there and they had that too. the guy who called me was kind of coarse at first, but we discussed the possibility of a settlement. They told me if I settled it out it would "reflect a zero balance". Against my better judgement i told them if they faxed me the settlement amount, the original balance and the fact that my credit would indeed reflect a $0 balance i would pay them through whatever mean necessary. Turns out they charge 6.95 for this. so for 1400 and some change Plus the 7.- for the transaction I have eliminated ALL my debt, as the discover card was the card i used to consolidate all my bills. My credit report WAS infact updated to reflect a $0 balance. What they did not tell me was something I had never heard of. The credit report does NOT show "settled in full" but "PAID" I had settled an AMEX bill years ago on my moms credit report it showed SETTLED FOR A LESSER AMOUNT. BRAVO!!!! I am grateful for the patients it must take for these debt collectors to put up w/ hang ps, name calling. EVERYONE has caller ID these days and it must be much more difficult than my day as a phone sales rep back when we would dial so many #s on a rotary phone our fingers would bleed. I guess companys in some cases actually can buy old debt that the bank, or lending institution has "written off". In my case why would i care who gets the money. discover, bank of america,m what difference does it make? Once it is owned by a 3rd party, they have the right to update credit reporting agencys to reflect a paid in full balance even if it was settled. Im reading complaints from people who are complaining they are being threatened for writing a bad check?????!?!?!?!? Aree you kidding me?? You write bad checks and are dissapointed with their collections technique? As for me Im glad they called I will do Business w/ them any time. My credit is valuable to me. I am also astouned w/ a entry stating they "target disabled, or people on a fixed income" this is TOO funny. Ever stop to think this 1 through? Who is not on a fixed income? What is not, a fluctuating income? What like Charlie Sheen? In that case I would agree. Maybe they "target" low income folks because they have a harder time paying their bills?? Oh thats another thing, they even allowed me to break my settlement up into payments!!! who else offer that? Maybe its these fixed income folks who need to try to sue because they have nothing better to do, they clearly dont pay the bills, maybe they dont work? I love the thought of suing a bill collector for "damages" what "DAMAGE" did they do? Break your phone? I am a retired man on a "fixed income". You think they would hire me? I would love to work for that company.

Yes, I just had a weird conversation as well. A nice lady first wanted to talk to my husband and when I asked her if I could help her instead, she asked me if I was his wife and she told me that there is a 8,000 creditcard debt pending on my husband's Discovery Card. When I told her, that my husband does not have a Discovery Card and if she was sure that she has the right person, she gave me my husband's SSN and asked me if this was his. Then she connected me to a guy who talked so fast, he said something about working with paralegals and told me that there has been an Affidavit of Fraud issued against my husband and because I am married to him, my State that I live in considers this as an Affidavit of Fraud against me as well. I told him that my husband does not have this credit card and that we do not have any credit card debts at all. He said he could send me an e-mail with the information, but didn't ask me for my email address. So I had to ask him if he was ready to write down my e-mail address....(??) He then spoke fast again stating something about legal actions if I do not coorporate, threaten to get in touch with my husband's commander and threw all kinds of "By law, you are required to bla, bla, bla.." I said that I am not scared of him threaten me with all of that and that I still do not understand what he is talking about. Then I asked him for his name and the name of the company he is working for since I still didn't get it the first time.  Then he gave me the number 1-877-341-7412 his extention -1009 and -3112. I then asked him for his name. He then got loud and said, "Are you serious lady?". He then said his name was John Scott (that's what I could understand). When I asked about the name of the company, he talked really fast again, so all I could make out of was something like "Attorney Point and Associate" it could have been "Turning Point and Associate" since their phone number matches these postings. Anyway, I could hear that he was having a conversation with someone else in the background. He then hung up on me before I could asked him why he was so rude. We really do not have any credit card debts and I think this is a shame running a business by trying to intimidate people. I am curious if they will ever call back after hanging up on me...To be continued.
