Firefighters Charitable Foundation - scam from what I know!  They use different numbers all the time - I am constantly blocking their number and then I get another unavailable call from them from a different number.

I wonder if they have a script that is targeted at only one gender?  When they get the "wrong" gender they panic and say they'll call back later?

Actually, they aren't the ones who are calling--another Business is. They signed a contract. I called them and I told them that they were making a mistake. This Firefighters is a bunch of BS and I told them about the PBA and FBA. I also told them that I was going to let people know and they were going to get a bad name. Everyone should call back that number, press 3 and tell them they are fools.

President of Firefighter charitable is FRANK R. TEPEDINO, former baseball player...  Lives at 2 Pear Court, St James NY.... Home Phone number is 631-862-1771....  Believe wife is LORI...  she is listed as Treasurer of this organization.....      EVERYONE NEEDS TO CALL THEM AT DINNER TIME....

This number calls my house relentlessly!  I have caller ID so I never answer a number I don't know.  Do they EVER give up?

Received a call from 877-367-8689.  They left no message.  I am on the NO NOT CALL List.

I am on the do not call lists, but this number has called me repeatedly.  Sometimes a man speaks, usually no one does.  When someone does, he always asks to speak to me.  When I tell him I am the person he is asking for, he says he will call back later.  Once I told him not to and he LAUGHED.  One person said it is intelligently automated.  I doubt it, because of the laughter.  I filed a complaint and was told there is nothing I can do, because it is a charitable organization.  What is charitable about harrassment?

I just got a call from this number.  A few months ago I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and got a referree's whistle.  When I get a call from a toll free number like this one I give the whistle a good blast while I'm hitting the answer button on my phone.  Best three bucks I ever spent and it sure is fun!!

I received same call today.  I don't mind giving from time to time.  Normally I do this via the Vol Fire Co. I belong to - by volunterring my time.  I WANT TO CAUTION Everyone out there.  DON'T SAY yes to these prompters.  Just tell to send you the info via snail mail, and tell them to use the information they have ( gleamed from a phone list ) - no need to verify nothing - if it's in a phone book - who ever published it has already verified.  My real job involves various types of information assurance and security.  The call I received was definately intelligently automated.

Just say NO to teleprompters.  P.S.  Give Locally to YOUR local Vol Fire Dept!

Some SCUMBAG called from this number. Saw it was listed as "UNAVAILABLE" and let it ring. He/She/It better yet.... SCUMBAG did not leave a message.

A gentlemen called and identified himself as Ryan from the Firefighters Charitable Foundation.  He asked to please speak to Pat.  When I told him this is Pat he got quiet for about 15 seconds and then said, ok, I will call back at another time...and then he hung up!  Strange!

Some guy called and wanted to know if the lady of the house was home, told him no and asked why? He said he represented some charity for Firemen, I listened to his spill for a little bit and told him not interested, it sounded too much like a scam to me

A man called and wanted to speak to "the lady of the house." My husband asked him what he wanted and he said something about a Firemen's fund. Weird that he only wanted to speak to "the lady of the house." My husband hung up on him.

Thanx to all who have posted good information on this nusance caller.  This number has been ringing our phone and 'hanging up' on our answering machine for days. Sure wish that they still sold those 'telephone solicitor' zappers that used to be on the market.  How do these scammers get away with this. . .we are on both the National DO NOT CALL and also on the state DO NOT CALL. . .

I have been getting calls from this number for some time....the do not call list is a joke...I get calls all the time and even after I complained to the FCC, I was told there was'nt anything they can do.....so much for that....I have contacted the FCC about several calls from all over the place, but they keep insisteing that these people are doing nothing wrong....i wish there was some way I could forward these call to them, see how they like getting them....

Why would any LEGITIMATE organization hang up on you when you ask them to indentify themselves?

They spend 86.7% on fundraisers and only 8.3 on charitable programs. The other 5% goes to administrative costs, including $75K for the President and Founder.

So only 8.3 CENTS of every dollar you give them will go to charity.  Maybe you'd be better off giving to your local firefighters or even the local food bank!

This was the "Firefighter's Charitable Foundation".  At first I thought, sure, who wouldn't support firefighters?  But then I heard that on charitynavigator.org it says that Firefighter's Charitable Foundation spends 86.7% on telemarketing fundraisers and only 8.3% on charitable programs. The other 5% goes to administrative costs, including $75K for the President and Founder.  I don't even make $75K!

Spending 86.7% on telemarketing is way too inefficient.  I'm AM going to give my money to firefighters.  But it's going to be my LOCAL volunteer firefighters.  They don't telemarket at all and they NEED my money.

Any LEGITIMATE business will honor the DO NOT CALL list because LEGITIMATE businesses know that it's THE LAW.

So if you are on the list and you're still getting calls, what does that tell you about the people who are calling?

Other websites have addressed this number - it's a total scam from people claiming to be firefighters.  They must be going through a phone book because I just got the call on my land line, which I've only used for faxes for years.

It has nothing to do with the 'do not call' list.  Some person going through the phone book doesn't care about any list you're on, just about getting your cash.

Got the call this morning, left it go to voicemail and then decided to call the number back. Got the same info that others did in that it is for a fundraiser for fire victims "Corporations for Character"  At the end of the recording you can press "2" to be request a call back or to be removed from further calls. After you press "2" then you get another message that says press "5" if you want to be added to the DNC list, and they will use the number you called in on to add you to the list, but if your number is blocked or you called in from a different line you have to leave a VM indicating what your number is.

Called me 10 am this morning, left it ring only 3 times and then hung up.  I have found out that this is some fireman's fund out of NY.  But, I believe it is a scam, otherwise they would either leave a message or let it ring longer.

Received another call 5 min. ago.  I live in South Central PA.  Have received calls from this number in the past.  I answer on my cordless phone & hang up right away.  Don't know if anyone is on the other end, but I like to think there is and let it bother them.   Also, you know that junk mail you get from credit cards?  Just put it in the envelope they send with it & mail it all back to them and let them pay the postage.  It says on th envelope "we are looking forward to your reply", well, that is how I reply.

Left no message.Annoying.
