Called before 7 am - couldn't even understand the name of the person or the name of the company but their message was "call us back immediately before any more derogarory marks are made against you" WTF? I do not answer toll-free calls out of principle but their rudeness on my vm is unsurpassed.

You don't make any friends or gain the valuable contact info you want with 7am calls, especially since I am not your debtor, yet you try to treat me as if I am. Never mind, it would appear to be your intention to be an annoying pest, Sorry to disappoint you as I am indeed already up at that time! I will now take my phone off the hook at 6:55am, as you cannot legally call until after 7am! Thanks to the other people's notes on this web site, I have been able to educate myself to your antics.

It's the bottom feeders again spreading their misery. See ALJW's message above - it's not even worth bothering with them - if you don't answer the phone, they can't intimidate you!! All of the collection agencies keep changing their 800 numbers so the rest of us can't warn you about the lies they spread.

usually when i answer there is no response. last night they responded for the first time I was told it was info tech risk management. they asked for my husband by his first name then tried to get him to confirm his identiy and get financial info out of him. when he challenged them they hung up. you say it is a debt collector? we have no debts do not purchase on time from companies.
can we make them stop. we are going to look into identiy theft.

In January the company phone starting to ring asking for someone that I did not know. I have told them repeatly that the phone was a business one and to stop calling on it. They said they would take the number off the list. After 1 month the calls started again. Can we bill them for our cell phone usage. Maybe if evey one send in an invoice for $10.00 they might get the answer. Then after 30 days lets start calling their accounts payable about unpaid invoices. This is starting to piss me off to no end. 3 more calls today and 3 more time they are going to take the number off the list. Can't wait for the next one they are going to get police dept. fraud squard. det. Smith can I help you.

Yeah these guys call me 3 or 4 times a day, starting at 7 in the morning, and sometimes ending at 8 or 9 at night. When I do talk to them, sometimes they can be very polite but mostly they are just rude. So I hang up on them.

Important for those of you getting these calls from iQor Canada or ANY other debt collector:
1) They can ONLY call you at work once - all you have to say to them is that they are NOT authorized to call you at your place of work, and by law they are REQUIRED to stop calling you there.
2) YOu can also disallow them from calling your cell phone.
3) If you are in Ontario, the statute of limitations says they CAN NOT collect a debt owed more than 2 years ago. DO NOT admit your debt, even if you do owe it!! If you do, the statute of limitations can RESTART!
4) Debt settlement can be down to pennies on the $ owed, so NEVER take it as firm that you have to pay the full amount due (if you choose to pay). People have legitimate reasons for not paying.
There is an excellent book out by a lawyer in Kitchener who actually used to work for these collection companies and can tell you the laws.
I make no $ from it - I read it and actually spoke to the lawyer on the phone and he advised me because of the Brick scam bills. (Paid over $5000 in 3 years on a $4500 purchase... and still claimed to owe over $4000 so I stopped paying).
His site is: http://www.collection-calls.com/help-collection-calls.html
Gives lots of legit info on what they can AND can't do.
I'm about to spend the $50 to him to get them to stop calling me (iqor) - its really funny, I throw them for a loop every time:
Once they ask for me by name and I say that its me, I let them announce who they are: "This is --- from iqor canada".
Then I cut them off and say,
"I dispute any amount owing and will not discuss this over the phone", then I hang up without giving them a chance to speak.
By law they cannot call you AND REACH you more than 3 times in a week.
About 3 weeks ago, they called and reached me EIGHT times... then last week 4 - I totally threw the guy off and took control of the call:
"Thank you for calling - can I have YOUR Name? Can I have your Employee ID #? Thank you - I will now be reporting you and IQor canada to the province because you have violated the collection act by calling me AND reaching me more than the 3 times in a week. You have just violated the law and are being reported".
Then I hung up.
Felt good!
Anyway - get that lawyer's book - he gives SO much info on how to deal with it all, what to do and most importantly what NOT to do!

It is a bill collecting company. A rather rude one at that.
| George 2009-02-20 03:35:35 Unknown |
Caller says to wait for an important announcement and then noyjing happens. This happens up to 3 times/night.
