YOU have to hold them accountable - harrassing the wrong people is a COMMON problem - that is why the LAWS state YOU can sue the collection agency for this practice.  Under FDCPA and TCPA.

What they are doing is trying to locate the correct person - but their skip-tracing allows for the wrong people to be contacted over and over again.   In this case they called you ONLY because your FIRST name was the same as they person they were looking for.

Important information YOU must read to protect YOURSELF from debt collectors and their ILLEGAL/Questionable tactics

I really think that a debt collection company should be held accountable for leaving a collection message for the wrong person.   I received a message from them about a debt.  Being the worrier that I am, I was frustrated all night wondering what this debt collection was about.  When I got in contact with "Mastercheck" the following morning and gave them the reference number they left on the message they asked if I was Aaron ....., I said yes and they said they represented Hobby Lobby.  So now I'm angry thinking my identity was stolen.  Then she says "you are Aaron L. -----.  I'm not and I'm angry that they can just leave messages at numbers that they think may be the person they are looking for.  Why should I spend the evening worrying about a collection call that turns out not to be me.  Where is the accountability?!  At my business we also get calls for so and so and if your not this person please don't listen (the various names people ask for have never existed at our business).  So they now are not only wasting my time but my employees as well.  What, if any, are my rights concerning these issues.  Had to rant, these people are idiots.

For the last few months I have been getting a call from this # 1-877-377-2769 and an automated computer asks for a Christine ?. It says if you are not Christine ? hang up, and I always do. But I'm really getting tired of them calling me. I have had my cell phone number for nearly 10 years through Cingular/AT&T. When I did a search on the web for the # it brings up web pages in another language (Chinese I think). I tried to check the site "mr fyi" gave in his post but it says web page unavailable.

Got an automated message "don addams (calling about a business transaction" to call 877-377-2769 (gave a ref #).

Comes in on my new NET10 (pay as you go) phone about once a week. Since I don't have a checking account or any unpaid bills... I imply delete it from my voicemail (Tat phone is only used for voicemail and the alarm clock feature on it. must be from the last person who had this #.  Googled the # and got this website and their site: www.emastercheck.com/contact-us.htm

Since the NET (pay as you go) phone carrier does not have any of my personal info (that's why I bought the phone)... THE AUTOMATED CALL IS NOT FOR ME.
