This was the number left to call back regarding someone who used to have my phone number. The company name they left was Consumer Recovery Associates. I called back and told them they had the wrong number, and the woman who answered was surprised and sympathetic. She apologized for taking up my time.

OK, so this place kept calling for my girlfriend and wouldnt speak to me. Since my girlfriends name is Toni I decided to answer them next time and say "This is Toni, GO". So about a week later they call and I answer that way seeing the caller ID. They talk to me saying how I owe some taxes for when I live in Idaho, which my girlfriend did in the past before we met. So I go "oh really for what", they get pushy about arranging payments and I ask them to verify the SSN they have on file so I know they have the right person. The bitchy woman then insists if I give her the SSN she can validate it but she isnt allowed to give it out. So I BS her and make up a number in a realistic range. She CONFIRMS that is the correct SSN so I say "Oh really well that isnt my SSN, so your full of s***" She gets really bitchy now and said her system was down and because I was being difficult she wanted to difuse the situation, so I tell them to call when their system is up. They did call again, and almost the same BS call between us. I did come to find out after the third call that another Toni with the same name in Idaho is who they are looking for, I think this place is a debt collector that just calls each Toni with the same last name that lived in Idaho during the debt and the first one to pay it off closes it. This probably gets them a good rating with the companies that hire them and I imagine some of those law suits mentioned are people realizing they paid for someone else debt with the same name. So out of curiosity I called the Number and said MY full name and I had received a call, and guess what sure enough another Scott with my last name had a debt they were collecitng and they were ready to take payments from me. Well too bad for them I have never had any debt and I know it wasnt me and informed them I was reporting their practices to the BBB and was going to give emphasis to how they were calling anyone with the same name, SSN be damned. So make these clowns produce something to prove they have the right person by name before you ever even think of giving them a dime, problem is they are a collections agency and all the debts they are trying to collect are real, only problem is you may have the same name as someone else.

I received a call from 864-640-4686 on my cell from a guy who couldn't even pronounce my last name. He goes on to say are you this person, I have time to kill, so I said yes. He then places me on hold and some lady who says her name is Sue from CRA says that there's an issue with a 1099 in the amount of $600+ and that I was in a breach of contract for a cash advance. Since I was sitting at work, I told the lady to give me her number and I would call her back. The number she gave was 877-394-0388 and said that I had until 7pm to get this matter resolved. First of all, I've never been self employed, so I don't have an issue w/ a 1099 and secondly, I've never breached a contract, I work in finance for a living. And for them to try to resolve a debt matter and tell a person (who doesn't owe them anything) they have until 7pm to resolve a matter...they can kiss my @$$ and whoever their customer is can get their $600+ the best way they can!

Getting calls at my job, not sure why, I even got a call at my home and they tried to get my daughter to give them my social and other info. This is a scam they need to stop calling me at home and my job!!!!!

Got an urgent message to call these people.  I'm not gonna do that.  They don't even know my name-called me by a nickname I don't even have.

These people called my mother in law, and said it was urgent for me to call them.  I've never heard of them before.

Recieved same came as list above by several saying I needed to call them immediately about some information I may not be aware of.  Said I needed to speak to a Mrs. Kasinger.  I don't owe anyone anything as I pay my bills on time, no delinquencies, so has to be a scam.  Be very wary of them.

This company left a message with me stating the seriousness of what I may not know what is goin on. I was thinking WHAT??  I called the number and asked to speak with the person that called for me and the guy that answered said he was his supervisor and how could he help me????  I said I'm not sure how can I help you?  You are the ones who called me.  He said OH OK.  Goodbye then.  HUH??

received a message from Mrs. Kay Singer that it was important to call 877-394-0388 because there was an issue on 3-813053 that needed immediate attention.  I do not know the company and my telepone number is unlisted why would they be calling me.

They called from this number, very threatening, kept insisting someone lived here who does not and never has.

This is a number that calls people who don't even owe debt. They keep insisting you are the person they need to talk to even though that person has used a phone number that does not belong to them.

Someone called named Ellie and was a total bi***.  She was looking for someone who lived here in the past.  Then hung up as soon as I said I wasn't the person they were looking for.  I assume they are debt collectors.  I called back and talked to Michelle DaSilva and she was a total bi*** also.  I got part of the name of the company which ends in "Recovery"

My sister got this call asking for me....I don't live with her and don't know who they are...

Got a call from them saying they needed to speak with a Beverly Hiines - who is not at the phone they called.  When called and asked WHO they were - they got very defensive and said that we didn't need to know that information and it was none of our business.  They said they would remove the number - but this is the SECOND TIME they called.

If they call, i recommend to NOT call them back and do not give them any information.  THey do not disclose who they are, what they want or why they are calling.  If they are legitimate they would answer some basic questions.

I received a call for my daughter from 1-864-569-0178 and D.Bowling was the name on Caller ID. They left a message in a threaten manner: "saying that "We need you or whoever is representing you to give us a call back immediately....1-877-394-0388.

A lady stating her name was Mrs. Merrill called, asked for me specifically, and pronounced my name correctly (which is scary, because I have a rare and classically hard-to-pronounce name), saying that "at this point we need you or whoever is representing you to give us a call back immediately." As a rule of thumb, I never call anyone back who doesn't identify the entity they work with or for.  I wonder who the hell they are though and if it is related to some of the recent security breaches on PS3's and/or teachers in the State of Texas.
