I received the same letter in the mail from this company, where they make it look like you will face possible jail time if you don't respond. I called the company thinking they were affiliated with my Honda, and in fact, they were not, although they want to appear that they are. The sales rep who I spoke with was extremely pushy and borderline rude. I ended up purchasing the extended warranty for my car because it seemed like it was a good deal. However, after a few weeks and research on the company, I decided to cancel my warranty. My sales rep for my cancellation was named Russell, and he was the rudest of the rude. At first he was trying to do his sales job by trying to change my mind, and said things like "I'm looking out for you." Then he ended up saying things like "good luck for when your car breaks down," and "I don't understand why you would do this to yourself." The only reason he stopped saying these things and finally went on to cancel was because I told him to transfer me to someone else or a manager. In my opinion, a reputable company does not speak to any customer in such a manner, even if the customer is trying to cancel a policy. I would stay away from this company because not only are they a scam, but also because they treat their customers with complete disrespect.

I called them and asked them who they were, why they were telling me the warranty on my old, old 1981 vehicle was about to expire (yeah, I don't even own that car, I junked it) and the guy told me he didn't like me asking so many questions and he was going to come to my home, kick my assk and then burn down the house. I live in an apartment. So what next? You going to burn up th entire place? What a joke, what a scam. They buy lists of information then hire telemarketers who don't even know the current from the old, the legit from the WTF. Asshats is what they are. Come and kick my askk, you wuss.

If you ever find out please let us know, they are annoying, but I am afraid if I call them and tell them to take me off, they will keep calling anyways.

It is either the DMV or the car dealer who are selling the info.
In fact my vehicle is far from an expired warranty and I got the first letter of that kind a few month after I purchased the car brand new. I don't think there is a way to off their list.

I called a similar number listed on one of the many letters I've received. I asked them to take me off their mailing list, then asked to speak with a supervisor. I was told they obtain the information from my 'consumer data report'. From what I gather, this is how many businesses obtain personal information so they can then send you ads, coupons, etc. The 'after market vehicle warranty scams' just look much more intimidating? My advice is to call the number on each of the letters you receive and immediately ask them to take you off their mailing list. Each letter has an 'ID' number listed that they will ask you for. I did not use my cell phone to do this, just in case :)

Repair Defense Network is NOT the warranty holder. They are just the marketer & will "sell" your policy to INDS or similar. If you like to deal with many layers of companies all blaming someone else -- this is the deal for you!

Its a 3rd party company that provides warranties on high mileage vehicles that are close to their warranty expiration. It does not come from a manufacturer like Toyota,Honda, Chevy etc. Vehicle and owner info is accessed through PUBLIC records. All they the do on the front is state the Federal Law for U.S. Postal documents. Not false information. It does make the parcel look a little more Important than it actually is, but that is just to make you open it. Which apparently works! The coverage and companies that provide the warranties are legit. People keep vehicles alot longer these days, well past any warranty coverage. Some people cash in on the coverage and have no complaints. Its a simple letter, not a bunch of phone calls or E-mails, throw the letter away if you dont want it. But to be clear... IT IS NOT A SCAM

Have received several similar letters, one with phone number and the others all with different numbers. This is a popular method. Have no doubt that this is questionable advertising if not a downright scam.

Have gotten Three of these, one on a car we haven't had for two years. This last one used more fear factor , about losing powertrain coverage. But the car is only one year old.
Is there away to turn them in for unfair business ethics?

Got this notice in the mail about my vehicle warranty expiring and how I have to renew. It almost looks legitimate because it says 2007 Toyota Prius and has a customer number. There's even a warranty expiration date and everything. However, my 10-year warranty through Toyota is still good for 3 more years. I feel if this were a legitimate renewal offer, it would have some proof that it was actually from Toyota. But the address in the fine print is for "Repair Defense Network." So I'm calling scam on this too.

This number is posted on a flyer that promotes motor vehicle service contract. They send out flyers that look like government-related, official documents to lure you into opening the mail. On the front it prints "Warning: $2000 FINE, 5 YEARS IMPRISONMENT, OR BOTH FOR ANY PERSON INTERFERING OR OBSTRUCTING WITH DELIVERY OF THIS LETTER U.S. MAIL TTT 18 U.S. CODE" and "TO BE OPENED BY ADDRESSEE ONLY PLEASE RESPOND WITHIN 5 DAYS". Basically they want to invoke fear in you. You hurry to open the mail and read a bunch of things printed all in capital letters only to find out they are selling you extended warranty. I despise them.

I received a letter with this phone number offering an extension on my car warranty. They tried to make it seem like the letter was from the dealirship, but I also noticed that my neighbor got the same one but for a Toyota.
