Call from Jack Neilum (same info as all the above) saying he is a private carrier and has documents to sign.  I can call 877-394-7603 to speak with the party and get a stop order.  If I do not he will be showing up at my residence and place of business tomorrow.  Said I must have a valid ID and ended with "You have been warned".  Also called my Mother and my place of employment from 2 years ago.  Thank you to this site, I will not be calling the above number.  PROCESS SERVERS DO NOT CALL YOU TO TELL YOU THEY ARE SERVING YOU!

It was Jack Neilum  (sp?) that has called first my employer, second my cell number and finally another business that is in the same building as where I work! He keeps threatening to serve me with papers (my boss is completely freaked out by this btw) but has yet to show up. After seeing this page, do we even know where he is? I'm in middle tennessee but one of the comments says something about Texas. The number he calls from comes up as "unknown".

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Same stories as above, but I was called by Lisa Miller and she left a messsage to call 877-394-7603 and gave me a case number.  This is the second day in a row she has called me on my cell phone and at work.  I had a stroke last year and am trying to get back in the swing of things at my old job and this has me panicked!  How do I make her stop calling my place of employment or me, for that matter?  Has anybody on here been served by these people as of late?  Thank you for your help in advance.

It is a true fact that when calling  a number they ask  you to call, if they're scammers, you just added your number to their list of good numbers to call.

I've received similar calls in my google voice number, same story etc.. They're probably a collection agency using illegal methods to scare people into paying either legitimate or illegitimate debts. Just so you guys know, no one will ever show at your house or place of employment; that's not how this works.

To serve papers, they usually send officers or constables at least here in Texas,  they DONT call! ever!!!!

Hello all.  I have an update on the above.  I received another call from the same man today.  He stressed that he did not have the information to tell me what this is about but he had my physical address.  That in and of itself is scary because it is only a 911 address and the post office cannot even verify the address.  On the advise of the state police last night, I called the attorney general's office.  I was told that if he calls again, to ask for verification of the issue in writing.  If he refuses, I am to tell him I will not work with him.  If I do get verification in writing, then I will know if this is a legitimate issue (which I seriously doubt) and can proceed accordingly.  I was also warned NOT to call the 800 number above to verify the case number.  The gentleman said this was a scam and if I called the 877 number I would be getting calls from all over the world with scams.  I am going to follow his advice and proceed as he said.  I hope this stops.  It is very scary to an old woman like me.

I also received a call from the same number, gentleman named Jack Neelumm (sp) saying he was going to be at my home or my place of employment tomorrow (Fri, 3/14) to conclude some sort of paperwork.  He gave me a case number.  I don't know who would be serving me with anything so I am contacting the state police fraud unit and will update tomorrow.

I got the same message that you both received. I have gotten these calls before and nothing ever happens.  They left a message on my husbands cell phone as well.  It's funny how they always call my cell and NOT my home number.  Time to change my number I guess.

I have actually received a call from a Gina Daniels Priority Courier on 3/5/2014 & today 3/7/2014, stating she has legal documents to serve me at my place of employment or residence today 3/7/2014. She called on Wednesday from an unknown phone number and today she called from the number of 707, (yes that is it, only 3 digits). She told me to contact this number 877-394-7603 with a case number. I called & a woman named Cheryl Stein from LRA (LR Associates, a legal firm) asked for my case number, so I gave it to her & she asked if #### were the last 4 digits of my social security number, I told her I would not confirm, she stated she could not help me than if I cannot verify I am truly who I am. I said okay thank you and hung up. I found it extremely that she was trying to protect me, when she is the Scammer & trying to scam money from me. So I will patiently and happily be waiting for the Priority courier to show up at my house today to serve me properly. This is becoming so annoying and making me very angry. My husband is terminal as well as I am very ill with a incurable Auto-Immune Disease. So they calls are getting to be too much. But I was also a Superior Courtroom Court Clerk for 7 years and know for a fact that priority Courier (aka Process Server) does NOT ever call you and give you the option to contact the company to settle so the Process Server doesn't have to serve you. It is so sad that poor innocent people fall for this out of pure fear. What is the problem with our Government to do something about this. Its is getting worse 10 fold every day. Thank you & be smart
